Software :: Amarok Doesn't Advance To Next Track On Playlist Automatically
Mar 24, 2011
Usually when I install a sequence of tracks in the Amarok playlist, it plays them in order, advancing to the next track after each is played. But it seems now to be in some state where it doesn't automatically advance -- after completing a track, it just stops. I can manually start the next track, however. What is needed to cause the automatic advance? (I'm running Amarok 2.3.2 under KDE 4.5.1 and Kubuntu Maverick 10.10.)
I've recently upgraded to Fedora 15 after a failed Fedora 11-12 upgrade (luckily all my data is on a seperate drive!) and have been re-installing all the applications i had before. One strange problem i've come across is with XMMS. When it gets to the end of a song it wont move onto the next one. I've tried checking and unchecking the 'No Playlist Advance' option and it has made no difference. I tried changing the output from ALSA to OSS but that didn't even play the tracks so i switched back.
I'm currently running Meerkat beta AMD64. I've been using Audacious in Ubuntu for years, before that I used XMMS.
In Windoze I used to use Winamp. Winamp has a plugin called gen_yar. Gen_yar would allow you to right-click on the playlist and copy your current playlist files in track order to any folder on your hard drive, or to a USB mounted mp3 player/thumb drive, whatever.
It had several checkboxes in the settings.
1) Rename the files adding the track number as the prefix (01_, 02_, etc).
2) Create a .m3u playlist of the tracks in that new folder using #EXTINF: instead of the full path. That way I can copy that folder to any gadget or another computer and the playlist will still play those files.
Here is the Winamp Plugin: gen_yar (Yar-matey!_Playlist_Copier) [URL] There's a link to the source code at the bottom of that site if that helps.
Here's another: Winamp Plugin Save Playlist In Order [URL]
I have yet to see this feature in any Linux media software. I've tried just about all of them. The only thing close would be drag-n-drop playlist files from Rhythmbox.
Does anybody know of a plugin for Audacious or Rhythmbox that will do this?
Alternatively, is there a Nautilus script that when I right click on a folder full of mp3s, it will create a playlist of files in that folder, and save that playlist file inside the folder (without the full paths as mentioned above)?
I hate having to boot into Virtual Box just to use Winamp to create portable playlists.
I am using Ubuntu 10.04 with Amarok 2.3.1 and I am having some problems with the Automatic Playlist Generator. I have not found my solution on these forums and I have searched google, and I am fairly new to using Amarok 2.
Every time I use the Automatic Playlist Generator, only 30 tracks are introduced into the playlist. Why is this? I don't want a limit to the amount of tracks which are selected.
Amarok stops after each track when playing playlist from magnatune. This is not happend if I play local music.Has someone a solution to this ?My Setup Amarok 2.3.2-4 - Fedora 14 64bit
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
i recently bought a Coby netbook, and the track pad doesn't work at all if i'm using linux, (i currently have fedora 15, and gnome 3.0.1) it works fine with windows. and also, the keyboard sometimes glitches and my typing would look like.does anyone have any idea on how to fix these problems? i would like to just find a .rpm or something with the drivers or whatever (I have always hated using tar balls)
my 9.04 64 bit ubuntu machine is having some major stuttering issue, as in it can't stay on track and doesn't respond to keys at certain times, the normal flashing text bar is flashing very quickly and very eradically as well. I reinstalled ubuntu keeping my /home on a separate partition, and then upgraded to 9.10 thinking that'd fix it, it didn't.at this point i don't know what's happening, My windows partition is fine.
I have a playlist of 634 tracks that I export to a file. I then try to import that same file and only 627 tracks get imported into the created playlist. The 7 tracks that are missing are:
#EXTINF:125,Elvis Presley - Don't Be Cruel ../../../../media/LinuxHD/Music/Elvis Presley/Elv1s 30 #1 Hits/02. Don't Be Cruel.mp3 #EXTINF:189,Elvis Presley - Are You Lonesome Tonight? ../../../../media/LinuxHD/Music/Elvis Presley/Elv1s 30 #1 Hits/16. Are You Lonesome Tonight_.mp3
I have a Sansa Clip + ,it works just fine in MSC mode. I wanted to give a try to the MTP mode. But it does not show up in Amarok. I have libmtp installed and mtp-detect does show up the device information.
I have installed Amarok on clean Ubuntu 9.10 and when I tried to play some mp3 files it just skip them all and finish the play list. I don't know how to fix this, maybe I need something to be installed. On other programs the files works fine. I have some Intel efault sound card.
I use amarok because I like it much better than rythmbox or any other gnome music app. Now there is one problem, I use a dark color theme under gnome but amarok stays light, and I can't use custom colors as in amarok14. Now my question is how can I make amarok use my gnome theme, or at least give also a dark look? nd is it possible to show only the lyrics on my desktop?
i installed ubuntu 10.04 on my desktop pc. I previously used 8.10 without any problems. Now I have a problem with amarok. I can't play any music at all. i tried to find what the problem was but i don't seem to succeed so far.
When I boot up openSUSE 11.2, sometimes it logs me in automatically (which is the setting I have) and sometimes it doesn't. How do I figure out why this is occurring?
I upgraded to 10.04 and my AWN dock won't automatically start even though the 'box' is tic'd and it's showing in the Startup Applications. I did lose all of my configurations as well after upgrading and had to reinstall everything on the dock.
Also, there are little numbers on the launchers like for Trash and Email that tell me how many items are in there. The Trash was easy to remove the numbers by right clicking and choosing the Preferences option. There was a place to disable that but there isn't one for the Email and those little numbers look well.
I recently updated from Fedora 9 to Fedora 12. Everything else works fine, but the situation with Fedora automatically recognised new devices when plugged in has changed to the exact opposite. Under Fedora 9, all devices I plugged in were always automatically recognised, whether I liked it or not. Under Fedora 12, nothing is ever automatically recognised any more. Whenever I plug something in, the system just ignores it. If they devices turn up as block device descriptors in /dev, I can manually mount them and access them through the mount points. Otherwise, I can't do squat. Now I can only access my digital camera by manually mounting it and copying the files. This works, but is cumbersome. Under Fedora 9, I used to be able to use GPhoto to download the pictures via PTP. Not any more. GPhoto acts as if the camera wasn't even there. So does F-Spot. What has happened? Have I missed installing some kernel module or service or something?
My adsl device currently used as Auto eth0 only works when i plug in to the computer. The device doesn't starts automatically as it does in Windows. How can solve this ? Each time I try to connect internet after restarting , I should manually plug the cable to the port.
I'm using vnc to connect to my ubuntu box from my windows box however I don't like the way it works.1) It doesn't start automatically. I have to be logged into my username before I can connect to my box.2) It takes control of the screen on my ubuntu box which isn't what I really want to happen. I'm used to connecting via rdp in windows where I connect to the other computer and if you looked at the other screen you wouldn't even know I am logged on.This is handy if someone else is using the pc plus I just don't like everything that I am doing to appear on a computer screen that I can't see. I find it kind of freaky.
My pc has two operating system, XP and Fedora 14 I was setted PC to Auto turn on with BIOS, after turning on, system was booting in fedora automatically after 10 seconds.
But, After i upgrade to fedora 15 via terminal(Preupgrade), that auto booting has disabled. I should Press Enter to boot into Fedora 15. It should be have auto booting into feodra 15 like when i was fedora 14.
I'm running squeeze testing. I have noticed an issue with the way NetworkManager acts when the wireless connection is dropped. I believe it should automatically reconnect but it immediately puts up a dialog requesting me to enter the wifi password. This dialog stays indefinitely until I intervene and click "OK" (the password from the previous successful connection is still there). I would think that something as basic as wireless networking should not require 24 hour human interaction to stay connected. I have considered a cron job checking the network status and restarting it if necessary, but there is a configuration change or something else I can do to resolve this.
I get the following error message when I try to access all of the sections in Add/Remove Sofware;
"No package cache is available. The package list needs to be rebuilt. This should have been done by the backend automatically

I would like to get a recommendation to get a backup program under Linux.
I use dropbox, but this doesnt syncs automatically new files created on my local folders. So if I copy this in with a Backup program I can get a fully automated online backup system.
The other day a power outage affected an SSH server I have running 9.04 (32-bit desktop ed.). I have two external USB hard drives used for cron-scheduled backups (one for rsync, one for an incremental) that are connected at all times. When I reboot, they no longer mount automatically until I login to the gnome desktop. As far as I can remember, they always mounted automatically before as disk-1 and disk-2, but now I have to login to the gnome desktop and then log back out.
I never had them listed in the fstab before since they just worked, & hope to avoid doing it this way since the drives sometimes get their paths (sdd and sde) interchanged. However, is the best way to fix this to use UUIDs in fstab vs. using sde or sdd? (such as in this post: 4highlight=external+hard+drives+don't+mount+boot Or maybeust remembering incorrectly & ubuntu doesn't mount them automatically until login? Sometimes I have to reboot remotely, & this problem would cause the rsync to fill up my system drive.
I'm using 11.04 with the old panels, no side panel. For some reason gnome-panel doesn't launch automatically so I have to do it via terminal, which means I have to keep the terminal tab open if I want to keep my panels.
Adding it to startup programs resulted in invisible panels (Cannot register the panel shell: there is already one running.), which I bypassed by typing gnome-panel --replace. I would like a permanent solution though..
I have avi, mpeg etc files associated with SMplayer. When I double click a file SMplayer DOES lunch but it never starts the playback. Not even the play key is active, and the seek bar and volume bar are frozen. If I go Open-->File and chose a file, everything works great.
