I use amarok because I like it much better than rythmbox or any other gnome music app. Now there is one problem, I use a dark color theme under gnome but amarok stays light, and I can't use custom colors as in amarok14. Now my question is how can I make amarok use my gnome theme, or at least give also a dark look? nd is it possible to show only the lyrics on my desktop?

But since Amarok is for KDE, it would be frustrating to get all the dependencies correctly in Gnome. Or is there another way to do it?

Ive installed it into /usr/share/themes and the window border and close, minimise maximise buttons show up right but the other controls (buttons, scrollbars, progress bars etc) dont and default to the generic ones.
I know nothing about how themes work really but I assumed as long as both distros were using Metacity it would work?
i just installed amarok 2, but it has that kde4 default look, not the gtk.. As far as I understood kde4 apps should have gtk2 theme applied, which I tested when I installed Clementine (amarok14 port for qt4). but for some reason amarok2 won't look like gtk?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can, on rare occasions, login to my gnome desktop with the sound theme enabled, but it usually crashes back to gdm while I'm still looking at the ubuntu logo. It does a resolution change, and I thought that might be my problem.
Then, my son noticed that, on those rare occasions we get into the desktop,the gnome-session crashes whenever a system sound plays.
I disabled the Ubuntu sound theme in failsafe mode, then could login to the normal gnome session.
This isn't the only machine that does this, and the other has the same model of motherboard, the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA. code...
I've recently upgraded to gnome shell in experimental, and I like it so far. However, the window borders and themes look like how Gnome 2 did before you install gtk2-engines and some themes. Are there any themes in the repositories that I'm missing, or are they just not there yet?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running Debian Squeeze, and I have a gnome theme called "Moomex" installed. I have had it for a while and it has worked fine, until it suddenly stopped displaying menu scroll arrows (like for long bookmark menus in web browsers). I can still scroll, but in place of the arrows is a solid colored rectangle that clashes with my theme. I went searching and found my theme's arrow image files (see code below). I have no idea how these files are implemented into the theme display, so I don't know how to re-enable them. I tried reinstalling the theme, but it changed nothing. These arrows show up just fine in any other stock theme, and they were fine in this one too until they randomly disappeared.

For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?

This apparently causes gnome to use the Gnome icon theme on boot, instead of the Humanity theme I selected in Preferences->Appearance. I just have to go to Preferences-Appearance again to get the Humanity theme back to work (I don't even have to change any settings, just going there is enough.) When I remove awn from my startup applications, this problem doesn't occur.

Adding -style=gtk to the launcher options works but I want to change the theme setting for all QT5 apps.
I enjoy using vim from lxterminal with the black background, as well as awesome with its dark theme. I configured xfe manually to be darkish, and i use darklooks as a GTK theme to suit it as well. I could say all my desktop looks pretty dark, which my eyes thank me for. I also use redshift.But problems come along when surfing the web. Most web pages (including this one) have very bright styles. They are not the problem themselves, but switching from my windows hurts my eyes since it's a quick change to a much brighter screen.What would you do, either:
1. Use everything with a brighter background and putting the screen brightness a bit lower. (changing the GTK theme to clearlooks, using lxterminal with a white background, etc.)
2. Use some color theme with uzbl so that pages would look much darker. (like when you set manually the text and background colors in Firefox/Iceweasel)
I would myself go with the second one if most pages wouldn't look that bad when modified that way. For example, many pages use non-transparent images with white backgrounds on white pages, so if you change the background to black not only it looks horrible but it too is a mess.
I recently upgraded to kubuntu 10.10 and now I can't play songs and sync my ipod outside of gnome. Before the upgrade I was able to access the ipod using rhythm box, it wouldn't be detected at first but if I would click music and then import folder and then click ipod touch under places rhythm box would recognise it and it would be mounted at /home/linux/.gvfs/iPod touch. But now unlike before on kubuntu 10.04, when I plug in my ipod it is actually recognised by the device notifier, but it only recognises it as a camera it has no access to the rest of the file system where the music is located, and their is no eject button in the device notifier to unmount. And because of this I can't mount gvfs unless I unplug the ipod, logout, and log back in into gnome. I tried mounting with ifuse before on 10.04 but it didn't work right, now when i try it in kde I get a whole new error message.

No device found, is it connected? If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device. If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.

I didn't think that command would work but I tried it because I have no idea where the hell the ipod is mounted or if it's even mounted at all. Is their any way to keep kde from detecting my ipod touch? Or anything I can do in the terminal so I can use my ipod with gtkpod or rhythmbox while in kde.
After a recent Debian 8 update, I notice a new problem with the Gnome-Terminal. When you open a new tab or window, whatever is the cwd of the current tab becomes the cwd of the new tab or window. This always used to reset to ~, which is what I want. Is this a new "feature" and if I can disable it?

When I want remove cd I click button on device but the icon is still at the desktop and in the nautilus too (in the left sidebar). I have to remove it manualy from nautilus or desktop ( option: eject ). This problem shows with packages like gnome-mount or gnome-volume-manager ot without them.

I am runnig Jessie with the default GNOME. Every thing has been perfectly smooth, but for the audio line in. First you should now the same hardware was working well with Wheezy. Then the hardware card is RealTek ALC887-VD and I am using the analogic part (both for in and out lines).
Below I will write some command results, but first, it seems important to describe the problem. I can hear the audio line in. If I blow in a mic, I definitelly hear the sound of it in the output. With alsamixer I can toggle the line in level and it works fine. By the way, with pavucontrol, it is the same I have access to the line in. but when I look in the Gnome setting for the sound, input, no card is available, then no volume setting is available.
--> as a result, I can't record the sound from the mic. it is sent directly to the output without been taken into account in the system. So no comment on video making, no skype …
On the web, the problem is always "no sound with this card" "No sound after upgrade to Jessie"… but Card is working fine but no seen on a upper level…

If I try to change the icon style, it changes the icons in my desktop and in Nautilus, but it doesn't change the icons in the panels nor the ones in the menus.

I have a Sansa Clip + ,it works just fine in MSC mode. I wanted to give a try to the MTP mode. But it does not show up in Amarok. I have libmtp installed and mtp-detect does show up the device information.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUsually when I install a sequence of tracks in the Amarok playlist, it plays them in order, advancing to the next track after each is played. But it seems now to be in some state where it doesn't automatically advance -- after completing a track, it just stops. I can manually start the next track, however. What is needed to cause the automatic advance? (I'm running Amarok 2.3.2 under KDE 4.5.1 and Kubuntu Maverick 10.10.)

Running Gnome.Used yum to get Amarok on here, and it freezes almost immediately every time I try to open it. The splash shows, a program shows up on the window-manager panel labeled "KDED Glob..." and the system freezes. Mouse, keyboard, all unresponsive. I had FC12 Beta on this exact system and Amarok worked fine. Noting that KDED Glob is probably part of KDE, and that I did not install KDE, I thought maybe Amarok depends on a KDE component that the repo did not pick up as a dependency. Tried to install as much of the mainstream KDE components as I could, with no change.

I can open appearance and change it back, but I have to do this every time I log on. It also changes the theme, but whenever I right click my desktop or open Nautilis, it still looks like the "classic" theme.Is this an already existing problem? is there a fix?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I log in locally, sometimes my theme isn't applied. This problem started a few weeks ago, but before that the same theme would load just fine every time. In order to get my chosen theme to load, I go System > Preferences > Appearance. As soon as I click "Appearance"...boom. My theme loads and all is fine. I don't have to change settings or anything....just start the "Appearance" utility.
This doesn't all of the time, only sporadically. Another thing to mention is that I'm using AWN. When this happens, AWN doesn't load all of the launchers. I killall and restart AWN and all is good there. Anybody have a clue what could be going on? Compiz related?
Sometimes when I log on, I find that the theme (specifically the window borders and icons) didn't load properly, and that I instead get a set of grayish window borders (Raleigh, I believe) and the gray GNOME icons. Sometimes the window borders corrects itself, but the icons stay the same. Reloading compiz doesn't help, and the only solution I found was to logoff/logon.
View 6 Replies View RelatedUpgraded from 10.04 to 10.10 using standard Update Manager procedure. Now themes don't work. When I change the theme, the window decorations change accordingly, but the contents of the windows (controls, panels) are in the raw X look (I don't know how else to put it) and do not change regardless of theme selection. I've tried customizing the theme and selecting something different on the "Controls" tab, but it doesn't work.
X is working properly with Nvidia driver, Compiz is working properly as well. Killing Compiz didn't help with the theme problem.I used 64-bit Lucid, so I guess it upgraded to 64-bit Maverick.
