I select GLSlideshow in the KDE system settings, but there is no option to choose what folder I want to use. I have to open xscreensaver to do this. However, I don't want certain sub-folders being used and I can't seem to be able to blacklist those folders.

View 8 Replies View RelatedWhat happens is that I resorted to deleting my .kde directory after my kid destroyed my profile where title bar, menu, konsole get broken. After deleting, I login again thus regenerating the .kde directory. To avoid my kid from messing my desktop, I tried to lock it. It does not lock.
It just need a KDE full restart perhaps since when I login the other day, it now works.
I'm updated to Slackware current for almost a month already and have not played a lot on KDE desktop (busy programming stuff).
However, on day I tried to lock the desktop in KDE to avoid the kid from destroying my cool desktop setting, but it didn't lock. Cool, so I tried screen saver and add an option to lock the screen.
When I test screen saver, it displays. But when I wait for 1 minute(I set it that way), it doesn't fire up. Not even after 15 minutes which I think the default.
It usually work before (several months ago) using the lower version of KDE. It is just last Saturday that I noticed it.
I tried to dig the profile management but I could not find anything relevant there.
After the last kde updates, when i try to set up the Sonar screensaver to ping 254 hosts it crashes KDE and returns to login screen. Does any one have that response from sonar or am i alone? Edit: slackware-current, no compositing, Asus EEEPC 1215N
View 10 Replies View RelatedIn KDE @ Slackware 13.1, turn on composite, and lock the screen. Then move the mouse. For > 3/4 of the time I can see the screen saver suddenly disappeared and my desktop showed up for about 0.1s, then the screen saver came back and asked for password. This problem can enable unauthorized people to peek into a locked screen. I don't know if this is because of my poor laptop with Intel integrated graphics. Can anyone reproduce it?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've set up the pc to power on automatically and start downloading at a certain time, so I went to System>Administration>login screen and unmarked the "show the screen for choosing who will log in" and I marked the "log in as me automatically". but when the pc starts, it gets logged in but doesn't do the things I've ordered it to do, and still needs me to fill the password for unlocking the login keyring. (I want to get rid of that as well)
The other problem is with my connections, I have 2 DSL connectionss, one that I browse the web during day and the other one that is free and I do downloads with it. I've ticked the connect automatically for the free connection, so that when my pc is up it gets connected automatically and then torrent will start up after and work. But I've realized if after the startup, the connection is not connected, it doesn't try again, however if it gets connected it remains connected for as long as it can be, the problem is only the first try. (If there is some problem with connecting at that certain time of startup and then the problem is gone, it won't connect automatically.)

I was able to open a short movie I have uploaded onto my pc from my digital camera. Edit -> Multitrack mode seems to be where multiple movies can be placed. I do not seem to be able to place the still images on here. Maybe I can and they just don't show up on the timeline well.

Instead I get like a static white line on screen everytime I press the brightness control. On boot however, I can see the correct bars. It is once I start my xsession, the bars do not show up. View 4 Replies View Relatedmy notebook has an external monitor connected with 1280x1024 pixels.
As long as the resolution of the external monitor is set to 1024x768 I can watch video with VLC, mplayer etc.
But once I set its resolution to 1280x1024 all mediaplayer play only sound. This happens on the external screen and on the built-in screen of the notebook. The desktop is extended to the external screen.
I've just upgraded to Maverick and as the Me menu works with Empathy I started to use it as my default IM client.
But no matter what I do, it won't show my picture.
I tried resizing the picture to 96x96, I tried to convert it from jpg to png. I tried uninstalling the program with apt-get remove --purge. I tried also removing the ~/config/Empathy directory and all others related to the program and then reinstalling it but nothing seems to work.
I even made a video aboout it, maybe I'm doing something wrong: [URL]

When the screen is idle for a long time, more than 1 hour, I get a black screen with the mouse arrow but nothing else. the mouse moves the cursor and Ctl+Alt+F1 does work. How to fix this problem?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been a Linux user for years but just recently I decided to take the plunge and use Ubuntu Linux as my primary OS (with Windows on the side for any games that don't run well in CrossOver Games).
Anyway, one thing I was curious about was whether or not I could get some of my Windows screen savers to work on Linux. Specifically I had been using "Blue Screen", a cute little ss made by SysInternals that emulates various versions of Windows BSODs.
The file comes as a .scr file (like all Windows screen savers). I wanted to know if there was any program that converted .scr files into Linux compatable screen savers. If not, that's still OK as I've now been rocking "Electric Sheep"!

I have an old Compaq Pro desktop with Ubuntu 8.04 installed. been using it without a major problem until four days ago. When I attempted to boot all I got was a screen with green vertical lines at the top and horizontal yellow, red, and orange lines below that. Since I recently had downloaded a new kernal I tried to use another kernal but that got the same result. I tried to boot with a live cd and finally got it to boot in low graphics mode.
