Slackware :: 3D Windows Compiz Plugin Isn't Working
Jan 1, 2011
I've just finished installing slack on my new computer, and after about 20 minutes of hair-pulling agony, I've gotten compiz working properly except for one plugin; the 3D windows plugin (windows hover over cube on rotate). I think it might be a corrupted ccsm- whenever I check the box next to the plugin, then try to rotate the cube, it is unchecked. Anyway, I know my graphics card (Geforce 6200 256Mb pci-e) is powerful enough to handle it since the driver installed properly and the effect worked on the knoppix live disk I used for partitioning. I'm running xfce and using emerald as the window decorator if it helps at all. It does the same thing with both animation packs.

Anybody got compiz in xfce working or have some apps, widgets, themes or other fun stuff to share? Like a netbook spin/remix and or a slackware edition.

I have recently upgraded to 11.04 and everything works except for compiz and emerald, every time I enable compiz to be the window manager the borders either do not work or they do not appear. I switched the window manager to metacity and now the borders work but I can not get any effects at all. Also emerald never replaced the window borders either.

After upgrading from 10.04 to 10.10, I've noticed (as have others) that the Compiz plugin for multiple wallpapers on different desktops is broken. If I wish to move to a new screen with the Expo feature, the graphics behave oddly (i.e. things become blurry or windows look terrible). I found a work-around on Launchpad, but this is only a temporary fix to a long-term solution. Has anyone else here had this problem or figured out a way to solve it?

I just installed 10.10 this morning. No major complaints at this point, but I can't seem to find the Grid plugin for Compiz. Is it missing in 10.10? If not what do I need to do to activate it.

Using Compiz's animation plugin, only the open and close effects work. When any entries are listed under the "Animation Selection" for Minimize, Focus, or Shade; the animations do not play; and I receive a libnotify error: "Animation settings mismatch in 'Animation Selection' list for __<Minimize or Focus or Shade>___ event."This happens even with the Animation Selection values reset and even the entire Animation configuration reset. I use the Gconf backend, but this also occurs with a file-based configuration. This has never worked for me.

I'm attempting to replace gnome-panel with cairo (also called glx dock), but I'm noticing some strange interaction between cairo and compiz. I have the Window Previews compiz plugin enabled, but the cairo dock only previews the window when the window is already visible on the desktop. If the window is minimized, the plugin doesn't seem to work. Have I missed a crucial configuration option somewhere? I'll attach some screenshots to try to clarify the problem. Notice the placement of the mouse over the left-most icon on my dock in both screenshots.

I did a clean install and mounted my user folders/partitions back after removing everything else from the Home drive to ensure no incompatible leftovers from Maverick. Now, I am dissapointed to see that I can't get blur on my transparent windows. This worked like a charm in Maverick and it looked brilliant but now it's often hard to tell windows apart if there are windows below the active one. So I had to turn down transparency... I have D-bus enabled, proprietary drivers installed and I have been Google-searching like crazy to find a solution. None.. Do any of you know the status of this plugin in Natty? Should it work, does it? Or not?I have Focus blur activated and working, it helps but not enough. My videocard is Radeon HD 4650 (AGP).

how to use the <Super>ButtonX (<Super>Button1 for example for the enabled Compiz Screenshot plugin)? I also notice there is configurable buttons 1 throught 20 under the various options. At first I thought the ButtonX was a mouse button. Maybe it is with some anticipation of there being eventually being a possible 20 buttons on the mouse. I know the Super key is the Key with the Windows logo on it. But I don't know what to do to get the needed Super Key / Button combination. After having enabled Compiz's Screenshot plugin by its default, I don't get an image after hitting any of the Super key and mouse button combinations. I'm running Ubuntu 11.04.

I keep reading on the web about how there is now a 64 bit plugin and even saw Eric state in the Slackware 64 thread that there was a plugin for x86_64...
Where does this plugin reside?
I'm seeing a ./lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so but that gives me nothing with "about:config"
I've got a 64 bit flash plugin.... Just need a java one and I'll be set as far as the web goes..

I installed 13.1 on my machine, and now find that Konqueror won't pick up the flash plugin, no matter where I put it. It finds the libnpjp2.so and skypebuttons.so plugins, but not the flash one. Am I missing something, or is it a KDE4 quirk?

I have an openvz vps and it has a vps admin panel from solusvm for administration. In the vps admin panel is a console (Java), but mine looks like the picture below.I checked in firefox and thought maybe there was something wrong with my java plugin. Everywhere I look I see different instructions with different directories and it was confusing. So I said just do it like slackware and I got the slackware64-current/source/local/jre directory and build jre-6u25xx86_64-1.txz from jre.SlackBuild and then upgradepkg --install-new --verbose jre-6u20-x86_64-1%jre-6u25-x86_64-1.txzI hope I didn't break my slackware. Before I did that, I disabled my flash plugin in firefox according to some instructions before upgrading jre. Then I went to my vps control solusvm vps control panel and went to console. Nothing. Then I remembered I disabled my flash plugin in firefox. so I enabled it. It's works again. I get the same error as in the picture all over again. So if that doesn't make my vps control panel work, what do I need to do to make it work? I tried in windows and it had to install the flasplayer plugin before it worked - Are there more than one flashplayer plugins?

I have installed compiz in slakcware 13.1 32 bit. i enable compiz in KDE + emerald (until this step, i didn't encounter a problem). But after i want to enable compiz in same PC and same OS but different username, the window decoration show same problem, it's missing !
That problem occur when i use KDE (it's same window manager that i use to install compiz in the first user). but if the second user use XFCE and i enable compiz + emerald, it's weird...it didn't show any problem...it's perfect.
But the problem is, if the second user want to use KDE desktop and enable compiz...that problem occur again...
This is my xorg-vesa.conf
Code:
I'm using VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)

Yesterday I updated firefox following the security mailing to
Code:
mozilla-firefox-3.6.6-x86_64-1_slack13.0.txz
When starting the new firefox I got the message that I should update my flash plugin. I use the slackbuild for flash so I already had the version
Code:
libflashplayer-10.0.45.2.linux-x86_64.so.tar.gz
So I tried to open [URL] to see if there are any new versions, but no luck. It seems Adobe has changed the setup and I could only download a libflashplayer without any version number whatsoever... Should I trust this? Should I wait for Robby to update the slackbuild script?

I'm trying to build and install a package from source. I thought xfce4-systemload-plugin would be neat to have. I found the link to the source at http://goodies.xfce.org/projects/pan...temload-plugin. I struggled all the way through making the package and installing the package using "installpkg". When I try to add the plugin to my panel I don't see it in the "Add New Items" window as I expected.

I've been trying to install Compiz 0.8.4 from the source code provided by the Compiz people.
However, when I run make on the first set of code (compiz-0.8.4 tar package), it halts with the following error:
Code:
As well as --disable-gconf and --disable-gnome since gnome isn't install on Slackware (I've also tried it without those, but it picks up on it anyway and throws them out). The folder I'm running this from is /root/Desktop/Compiz Fusion/compiz-0.8.4.

I'm trying to install compiz with a completely new install of slackware64-13.37. I had been using gsb gnome2 and compiz 0.8.6 under slackware64-13.1. I installed gsb gnome3 and, to my chagrin, found out that it is incompatible with compiz. I'm afraid I'm not "LEET" enough to install the old gnome (gnome2) pkg by pkg. Which version of compiz did you successfully install and in which desktop?
