Slackware :: Missing The Flash Plugin Using Slackware 13 64bit - 2.6.29.6-smp - KDE Desktop
Apr 26, 2010
using Slackware 13 64bit, 2.6.29.6-smp, KDE desktop. i installed the flash-player-plugin using sbopkg. when i try [URL], it says i'm missing the flash plugin. i copied the. so file to
I am Leonardo and I like very much slack 13.1 is very robust and fast for my laptop toshiba, I have a questions about that:
1. The flash plugin do not work in browser x64 2. How know that the fan is setting for ACPI or my CPU is good cooling 3. What is the KDE package manager for this release
I installed 13.1 on my machine, and now find that Konqueror won't pick up the flash plugin, no matter where I put it. It finds the libnpjp2.so and skypebuttons.so plugins, but not the flash one. Am I missing something, or is it a KDE4 quirk?
I've downloaded the static .tar.bz2 file for Skype .
[code]...
Same with Flash, my default browser is Konqueror. explain everything for dummies. I've also created a non-root user (kasu) and when I try logging in, I get the error message; There's no home directory and it can't be created.
Installed Slackware 13.37 over the weekend. Good so far. Problem with Firefox though as it does not have a plugins directory where we can move libflashplayer.so into like in previous versions. Where do we put it to file Firefox (and Seamonkey) to play flash.
Yesterday I updated firefox following the security mailing to Code: mozilla-firefox-3.6.6-x86_64-1_slack13.0.txz When starting the new firefox I got the message that I should update my flash plugin. I use the slackbuild for flash so I already had the version
So I tried to open [URL] to see if there are any new versions, but no luck. It seems Adobe has changed the setup and I could only download a libflashplayer without any version number whatsoever... Should I trust this? Should I wait for Robby to update the slackbuild script?
I have installed Slackware x86_64 in my computer and everything was fine until I realized that the flash plugin didn't work well. When I want to play a video on ..... the browser crashes. I installed the flash plugin from Slackbuilds. In the Slacbuild file I just check the version and set ARCH to x86_64, What can I do?
every here and there i enter a page where a box pops up:Additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page . After a number of steps I am at a page by Adobe, and I download what seems to be a generic package (Ubuntu will of course be there). But its instalation has never proved helpful. Still the same pop-up. Are there binaries for Slack or a way to get the sources?
i am trying to install Slackware 13.1 64bit on my HP Desktop. right now i am writing from a debian.
on the installation they ask me if i want to setup network right now.. when i press "yes" they need: name, domain, proxy etc... what is that things? :S slackware create new connection that i am going to pay extra? (pay extra money for that connection slackware create?) if i press "No" after the log in my network is not working..
my Questioni is: while i am complete the boxes on network setup (name, domain etc) slack creates new internet line that its going to pay? or not?
I have installed multilib support in my 64bit slackware 13.37 installation than I proceed it to install google earth from slackbuilds... and did ln -sf /lib/ld-linux.so.2 /lib/ld-lsb.so.3Now when I try to run google earth I get:[ 760.092745] googleearth-bin[3647]:segfault at 984f7d31 ip 00000000984f7d31 sp 00000000ffbfe100 error 4
1: How much does it affect securty, over a lan network? 2: Will it cause any other security issues? 3: The most important is can I forwad X11 from a 32 bit slackware to a 64bit slackware
I'm having the same issue when running F11 or F13 x86_64 and getting the flash-plugin installed just doesn't seem to work. aboutlugins in the browser does not show that the plugin has been installed.
I've followed the instructions at [URL] to no avail. This problem is common to both Firefix and Chrome.
The file referred to in this step (nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so) for google chrome does not exist on the filesystem, sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins-wrapped/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so /opt/google/chrome/plugins/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so
I've ignore the sticky thread for this as I believe that this version of the adobe 64 bit plugin is vulnerable to this issue, [URL]
I've also tries the gnash-plugin and still no flash in either browser.
I'm running Debian AMD64. I downloaded the flash square (64-bit) plugin, and in progressive attempts to get Firefox to see it, I put libflashplayer.so in the following places:
And nothing, it still complains the plugin isn't installed. I even tried removing all instances of the file and running aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree (cos 32-bit flash is better than nothing), and it still didn't see it.
I bought a new laptop HP Pavillion dv3-4170ee that has Core i5 2.53ghz dual core with hyper threading, intel hd graphics and Ati Radeon HD 5470 512 mb dedicated. It came with windows 7 64bit. It also has 6 gb ram(2gb in first slot + 4 gb in the second one).I installed slackware 13.37 64 bit. It installed just fine. installed lilo onto mbr. When it boots up it shows the slackware screen. I am able to boot into windows just fine. When I select Linux it boots into linux bios data check successful. lots of stuff goes on the screen the normal linux boot stuff. and then it goes to the next screen and stays blank
Nothing happens and even the hard disk light is not blinking.By the way the HDD is Western Digital.
Currently, I have a problem to run firefox 64bit 3.6 under fedora13 when I watch ...... It requires to update Adobe Flash Player. It seems that there is only 32bit library.
I am using Firefox-4.0b9 from /testing. I never deleted the old profile from 3.6x days. I just noticed that the Slackware identifier icon is now just a generic Linux icon. I checked in about:config, and the general. useragent.extra.linux string is still set to Slackware Linux. Is there something different to do for FF-4x? This isn't a real problem, just an annoying matter of pride.
i downloaded slackware iso (4.3 gigs, i thought it would be smaller) and then when i tried to burn to dvd it give me read sector error when i tried to verify. i tried this with 5 dvd and none worked so something is probably wrong with the iso itself. is there another way to get slackware to install with a usb flash drive or should i just redownload my iso (10 hour download =( ).
I tried the "rpm", the "yum", and the "tar.gz" from the adobe site. Both rpms installed fine but I still can't view flash content in Firefox (missing plugin). The .tar.gz contained a .so file, but the installation instructions for the flash player said I should see an installer file in the .tar.gz, but I do not. I can't believe I can't even get flash player working. Their instructions said to check under "Help > About Plugins" but obviously Firefox does not and has never had such an option. I hate Adobe.
I'm trying to install the latest version of Flash in Slackware 13 on a 32 bit machine. Adobe seems to have rpm and deb installers, but there's no TXZ. Normally, tar.gz wouldn't be a problem, but the package they have there only contains a shared library. No installation script, no readme, no nothing. Further, the SlackBuild is for an outdated version, and the installation doesn't work.
i just updated my slackware to current, and every time i try to log in in my kde session my desktop is upside down.i mean literally everything is upside down, the only way i can have a usable desktop is with the "fail-safe session" of kde option on kdm which is what i'm using right now.does anybody know how can i solve this?i would post a snapshot of the upside down desktop but i can't do anything when i'm using it. fonts, windows, panels, icons everything is upside down..i solved this, just reinstalled the nvidia drivers and everything is goood again
Running Fedora 12 64 bit version, when browsing the web get notifications that I need to install missing add in, flash player as it turns out. When I try to run either the install automatically or manually it fails when it is run though the installer, when I attempt to install manually I get popup notification that flash is already installed. Why OS thinks I still need to install it and how to correct this issue?
In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.
I keep reading on the web about how there is now a 64 bit plugin and even saw Eric state in the Slackware 64 thread that there was a plugin for x86_64...
Where does this plugin reside?
I'm seeing a ./lib/amd64/libjavaplugin_jni.so but that gives me nothing with "about:config"
I've got a 64 bit flash plugin.... Just need a java one and I'll be set as far as the web goes..
