I've a mailserver based on postfix. I'm queueing all the emails that have to be sent. After that I'm managing the queue with the output of mailq.
But in this way I'm just able to have this details of the queued mails: sender, receiver, size, time. There is a way to see also the subject of that emails?
How would one setup a header_check that would discard all emails that have more than 6 words in it? Such as, if there are more than 6 spaces in the entire message it would be deleted? I cannot find this out but it would reduce my spam intake by 50+ a day.

I am looking for the syntax for a sendmail ruleset to log the message subject to the syslog service. I have found a few posts on the web, but none seem to work. The basic appear to be - add the following to the sendmail.mc file then compile the sendmail.cf file using M4. The syntax suggested follows (I believe the rewrite rule is incorrect)(I and using <T> to indicate tabs):

sendmail.cf compiles and when used as the config file for sendmail - everything appears to work, but no subject is logged.
I need help with header_check filter on postfix. In the last week mail users received a spam e-mail without subject line and I don't know what is the way to reject this. This is the example of message header:

I mean something similar with helpdesk tickets, because I would like to create the possibility for the senders, to make further refference about a speciffic message using it's counter number provided by postfix server.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Samsung 850 Pro 250GB SSD drive and have since then found out that Linux has/had a faulty implementation of queued trim (which is a synonym for NCQ I think). I'm using kernel 4.1.0 (the default selected by the Debian 8.1 installer) and I've read that Samsung drives are blacklisted for queued trim by the recent kernels. However, the output of dmesg contains the following lines, with and without TRIM enabled for the drive (i.e. with or without the "discard" option in fstab for the drive):

Since the depth is not 1 but rather 31, it looks like NCQ is enabled. I've disabled TRIM on the drive for now, and whether it's safe to enable TRIM or not.
I have a netbook with a 150GB hard drive in it. A while ago I dropped my netbook and it wouldn't boot. Had a "failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED" error at startup. So naturally I went and reinstalled. Reinstalling worked fine and I had my computer back. What I didn't account for was the fact that anytime it lost power and didn't shut down properly, I'd get the same error. I can't seem to recover my data either. Can't get any live disks to mount the hard drive after this error but for some reason I can still reinstall Crunchbang (essentially debian). Now I know there are bad sectors or something because when I try to use the disk that came with the netbook with an image of Windows XP that writes to the entire hard drive it throws an error but linux will avoid this I suppose when installing.
Now all of this is to say, being a laptop, several times I have left it on overnight when I fall asleep working or have to run into to town and it'll die and then I lose all my data, rather irritating. What's causing this error? What can I do to prevent it besides getting a new hard drive? If I can't prevent it from happening in the future is there a way to recover the data off the hard drive? View 3 Replies View RelatedI am newbie to postfix. I added a new domain to my postfix server in the main.cf under mydestinations variable and the relay_domains file. Also, added this domain to my backend exchange server. When I send a test message from the new domain, my messages from that domain appear to be stuck in the "queue active". What does it mean when you are stuck in this queue? Does this mean that my backend email server (exchange 2003) isn't allowing messages from this new domain OR that the POSTFIX server still needs configuring.

The only problem I've encountered is that when I start and enable CSF, messages and emails keeps stocked in the mail queue.. I've double checked and made sure needed ports are opined.. But, I still have the problem.

Getting no errors from them either thunderbird nor Evolution.On the server (Cento 5.3) the email is in /var/spool/mail/ username. For example if I want to send an email to "luc@test.com", I will receive it in my box (ex "paulin@gmail.com")... I also receive in my box the logwatch which should be send to root@serverblabla.live-servers.net
That is very strange and I really don't understand what does that.
I installed openSUSE on one of the spare computers in work to test it out before I install it on my own laptop. I tried connecting Kmail to MS exchange and did so successfully using POP 3 but never checked the box saying leave messages on the server and it removed the emails from the server. Now I have nothing in my Outlook Inbox on my XP machine. how I can restore the emails from Kmail to the server.

Currently I am putting some work into our mail server configuration (sendmail 8.13.1 with amavisd-new-2.6.4). Recently I got amavis to verify DKIM signed mails. Now my plan was to sign outgoing Emails ourselves. This is what I have done (I replaced some names for privacy reasons):

Send Testmails to sa-test@sendmail.net and check-auth@verifier.port25.com . They automatically create answer mails considering signature information.
Send emails to my external account at some other provider.
The problem is that amavis is not signing the mails. Both automatic test emails reported, that the mail had not been signed. The mail to my external account also did not contain any DKIM information.

I am doing this project for our school. Basically we want to pipe all incoming emails to a script which filters out certain messages (not only spam but duplicates, large messages, etc). If they fail certain criteria, the script simply does nothing.If they pass , then the script should pass the entire message (headers and body) back on to qmail to send. The piping part is not a problem, but I am stuck with the next part.
