View 1 Replies View RelatedI am running RHEL5 and I have just upgraded my RPM software manager from RPM version 4.4.2 to RPM version 4.9.0 (the latest version) by doing a clean install of v4.9.0. The version 4.4.2 came with the RHEL5 and at the moment is very old so I cannot install certain newer rpms. I followed the INSTALL instructions that comes with the tarball for V4.9.0. The problem is the new install (i.e. RPM V4.9.0) has no knowledge of my old RPM manager i.e. V4.4.2, hence it does not know of the rpm packages installed on my system.
I think the problem is that the V4.9.0 is a new install rather than an upgrade (There are no instructions on how to perform a 'real' upgrade). I have tried to rebuild the rpmdb for v4.9.0 but that does not help and I have no idea how to import the data from v4.4.2 database to v4.9.0 database. My question is, how do I import the database from RPM manager V4.2.2 into RPM manager V4.9.0 or how do I 'upgrade'properly from V4.4.2 to V4.9.0. I have trawled the internet for some guides but there does not seem to be anything regarding this.

My Question is I have installed the ssh key authentication in Server A. User can connect this using key file via SSH. without authentication user can't connect this system via SSH. Now I am trying to copy the file from Server B through SCP command. But it is not working. While I am trying use this command from Server B I am getting below error "ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 22: Connection timed out lost connection". xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is Server A. SSH is enabled in both server A,B.
why SCP command is not working?
For some time now it's not loading properly, just get a big blue screen with a title bar. This is using 10.04 64bit with Firefox 3.6.15.I think it's since I upgraded to 10.04.

SSH, HTTP
When I try to login remotelt via ssh client like putty it ask me for username but, it hangs after I put my username and not asking me for the password. The second error is related to my web-server which redirect me to Apache default page and when I go for the terminal to make restart for httpd service, here is the output :

Ok so I've been all over Google trying to find an answer as to why my MPD server won't properly output over httpd. When I try to connect to it from any source, it gives me a "404:Entity Not Found" error. There hasn't been any useful info out there to solve this problem. Help please! Attached is my mpd.conf file. All my permissions and firewalls are set up properly AFAIK.

Windows username:test
As described in Customisation Guide for Red Hat 9: "If the user has a different username on a Windows machine and will be logging into the Samba serverfrom the Windows machine, specify that Windows username in the Windows Username field."So i logged from the Windows machine not under test(Windows username) but under vova.And i logged in without the problem. However it seems that samba should check windows username=test (as have written in samba-config) and ask an password for different users. And additionally, if samba check the currect user in Windows itself and verify it with Unix user, what for we need write the Windows username in samba config? I don't understand
the problem i am experiencing on my laptop (hp pavillion zv5000) which runs ubuntustudio 9.10 (this problem also occurred with ubuntu 9.10, before i upgraded to ubuntu studio) is that whenever i view a video on firefox, be it videos, metacafe, and generally any site where you can see online videos, the video glitches a lot, and after a few seconds firefox grays out, and is not responsive, which means i either have to kill firefox.i am running firefox 3.5.7 with the ubuntu firefox modifications 0.8 pack added. in the preferences, on the content tab the enable java button is not ticked. the following is the list of plugins i have on firefox:

The administration panel is able to send emails through dovecot but not any of the user accounts (ie with webmail). I've done a bit of research with what could be wrong but haven't had any luck so far I am also having a weird problem with apache: on a c++/php bittorrent application I was going to be running on a subdomain of my main site I get a 500 error every time I try to log in. The only way to get rid of the 500 error is to clear the chache (so its horribly broken somehow). The error generated in the log whenever I try to log in is that "ffmpeg is already loaded" (which I am running on the main site and is critical). Is there a way of either repairing my apache install or excluding ffmpeg on the subdomain in the conf or something?

The server have an HP smart array 2200 controller and during installation it can see the controller and disks just fine.
The installation completes up to the point where the system needs to reboot , however after the reboot it does not start up again and get stuck at the message: "Trying to boot from drive c:"
We used the rescue option to mount the installation and cant find nythign wrong, even with the grub setup (except that it points to hd96 as its primary disk). we tried changing this to hd0 as well but still no luck.
After about 3 installations we are still not having any luck.

So we have provided an option to login (via vnc)to the server on web application when we need. so how we can enable vnc for a session (like 30 minit)? I'm using default vnc installation while installing rhel 4 nothing more installed by downloading. When I click session button on web page, I execute this command from my code
"service vncserver start"
then I can access server via vnc but when I click on disable button on web page, I execute this command from my code
"service vncserver stop"
but still I can login to server via vnc
