Ok so I've been all over Google trying to find an answer as to why my MPD server won't properly output over httpd. When I try to connect to it from any source, it gives me a "404:Entity Not Found" error. There hasn't been any useful info out there to solve this problem. Help please! Attached is my mpd.conf file. All my permissions and firewalls are set up properly AFAIK.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed Nagios on my Ubuntu 10.04 server using apt-get and when I accessed the web console, everything was OK. I made some changes to apache (creating some new virtual sites) and since then Nagios gives me a warning message for HTTP with the message, HTTP WARNING: HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found. The sites that I created are working perfectly. I noticed that the attemps are 4/4. Does this need to be reset or does Nagios automatically reset that once it detects the issue is resolved?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been working on creating a Live CD with the tools I want, just for my use with system recovery and repair. For the most part, things have gone very well. The Live CD actually works fine, somewhat. I have run in to a problem where it doesn't actually boot on a lot of hardware.
What happens is during boot, while the modules are loading, the boot process hangs and the disc drive spins down. While I thought it might be a kernel problem, I'm using the .config from the latest gentoo Live CD, which boots fine on the same hardware.
I've seen many posts about setting up VPN's but my doubt goes further. I just need access to the local network of my office from a Windows XP (which of course is outside the LAN). I would like this PC to have access to the whole LAN, but what I really need is it to access to an Ubuntu Server (e.g. 192.168.0.10). The router is a Netgear DG834, which has a built in VPN functionality. So, is it enough if I set it up? Do I need to install any VPN server in Ubuntu? What if I want to access to another computer in the LAN? Where should I start?

User can connect this using key file via SSH. without authentication user can't connect this system via SSH. Now I am trying to copy the file from Server B through SCP command. But it is not working. Alright I just installed Linux as the only and got it all set up but now I have a problem with firefox or actually any browser. As far as I understand my internet works fine, I was able to download updates from the software center and various programs too. My problem is that when I try to go to any other website than google the browser just freezes up. The bar in the left bottom corner just says "Waiting for <site name>" Strangely google and google mail works. Ive tried going through all of the network settings but I am at a loss now

Today, I need to talk about some strange problem that faces me in my Linux Server, the power goes down and my server goes off, but when the power returns the server powered on and it works, but some services are not working properly like:

When I try to login remotelt via ssh client like putty it ask me for username but, it hangs after I put my username and not asking me for the password. The second error is related to my web-server which redirect me to Apache default page and when I go for the terminal to make restart for httpd service, here is the output :

I have just recently installed Ubuntu karmic on one of my machines. The network worked perfectly until today, when it just wont connect. I have double checked that the SSID and Password are correct. It is a WPA network. I am sure it is a problem with my computer, not the network, because my brother's laptop (which I am using right now) has ubuntu 9.10 installed on it and the network is working perfectly.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI use Ubuntu 10.04. Last night, I installed the most recent updates for this istribution, and before I shut off my laptop, my internet was working smoothly. However, today my Internet connection is behaving very strange. When I try to connect to the internet, my browser times out or cannot establish a connection. I'm able to connect to low-input sites like Google search, but I cannot connect to sites like Facebook, Wikipedia, or even the Ubuntu forums (I'm currently using a friend's laptop to post this). Pidgin and Skype work without a problem, as well as Transmission. I primarily use Firefox, but I also tried Chrome, Opera, and Epiphany; none of them worked. Oddly enough, my update manager also cannot connect to the Internet to retrieve updates.
I have restarted my router, but it still works properly, as it is running fine on my friend's laptop. I have tried 'no proxy' in Firefox, but it did not help. I also disabled IPv6 in etc/sysctl.conf by adding the code:

I have a registered domain that resolves (via dyndns) xxx.mydomain.com to my external facing router -easy no issues there. Behind the router I have several machines (some VMs) running webservers, mail etc... What I want to be able to do is redirect the external traffic based on xxx to the relevant internal machine and serve the content back to the external world.
I have tried using a http rewrite of xxx.mydomain.com to the relevant machine an it works fine from within my network, however externally the re-direct fails as the master DNS servers have no record of internal DNS setup in my network (obviously).
So is there anything I can do to get xxx. recognized externally? I'm only just starting to get my head around how DNS, HTTP, TCP etc all hang together. Am I barking up the wrong tree with rewrite? Should I be looking at proxys?
How can i check my FTP is working properly or not? or check out this connectivity?

For example: in chatroulette, the dialog that asks for the permission to use the webcam can't be clicked:

I have recently downloaded and installed apache2 http server from tarball source (i'm running ubuntu but i think its more fun to use tarballs i don't know why but its how i am) anyway i just installed apache2 and when i go into the servers section of webmin and click on apache web server i get this message:

However it seems that samba should check windows username=test (as have written in samba-config) and ask an password for different users. I did a fresh install of Ubuntu 10.10, coming from 10.04 and the wired network connection sometimes works, and sometimes doesn't. Right now I manually removed current network from System-->Preferences--> network connections, define a new one, and reboot. This usually fixes, although I've had to do this two times in the past.

I have a dual boot (XP Pro and F13) laptop. This laptop has a Ralink RT2501USB Wireless Adapter which works perfectly fine on XP. But when it comes to F13, adapter only works properly when I am physically next to my router. When I move few feet away the strength of the connection drops from 100% to around 40%. But even though 40% should be okay for slow connection to internet, I can't get any internet access at all. I have tried three different routers with same results on each.
When I boot same machine with windows XP, all works fine. I can move to any part of my house and I will still have the connection without any issues.I can see that RT73 driver is installed if I check in add remove program under system.I am not an expert but to me its seems that the drivers on F13 for RT2501USB are not as good as on windows?
I am using 2 VPS machines on VMware workstation.The older one is Debian 5.0 ( Lenny ) and I have successfully installed Static IP to networking and it works fineithout any problems.I just installed another Debian 5.0.6 ( Latest ) Lenny and installed another static IP. It's partially working and partially not. When I ping the server, the ping is successful but if I try to SSH, it says Connection refused and even if I tro use the net through the machine, it doesn't work and host name lookups fail. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an apache server running on my ubuntu machine. I can view them using my local ip (192.168.1.6):80/. And my friends can view the things hosted on my server using my external ip (example http://123.123.123.123:80) but when a friend links back to me to show me what they are looking at and share the moment, I can't view the link, it simply redirects to my router login page.
I had an older linksys router and this could work fine. I could click on the links with my external IP and it routes back to my server for viewing.
Remember to note that I am on the machine that has the server, and I'd like to be redirected out and back to it so we can share pictures back and fourth without me having to replace the external IP address with my local one just to view that link in the browser.

The administration panel is able to send emails through dovecot but not any of the user accounts (ie with webmail). I've done a bit of research with what could be wrong but haven't had any luck so far I am also having a weird problem with apache: on a c++/php bittorrent application I was going to be running on a subdomain of my main site I get a 500 error every time I try to log in. The only way to get rid of the 500 error is to clear the chache (so its horribly broken somehow). The error generated in the log whenever I try to log in is that "ffmpeg is already loaded" (which I am running on the main site and is critical). Is there a way of either repairing my apache install or excluding ffmpeg on the subdomain in the conf or something?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe're having an issue with HTTP POST file uploads on our two Ubuntu PCs. For some reason, whenever one of our users attempts to submit a file in an HTML form, the request times out, usually with a 500 Internal Server Error message. This problem is not limited to one site, but occurs on all sites that use file uploads. Also, the problem does not appear to be with our network, as a Windows 7 PC on the same network can upload files to the same sites without any difficulties. The problem is not browser-specific; we have tested with Firefox, Epiphany, and Google Chrome and all produce the same results. The issue is relatively new, and was first observed within the last month; before this time, both machines had no problems uploading files.
Does anyone have ANY idea what could be causing this? I've tried a number of things, including rebooting the PCs, rebooting the network, disabling IPv6, etc. I'm not very experienced in Linux system administration, but I can use the terminal and am familiar with some terminal-based diagnostic tools, so if you need any additional info or want me to try something, please let me know! I've exhausted my own computer knowledge with regards to finding a solution to this problem.
