I've down loaded mysql database file and now I'm looking at adding it into a new dedicated server. Should I upload that sql file to the root folder I created for the domain and insert it with shh like that? If not where should I upload this mysql file to insert it to the new database. It's rather large so I have to use SHH Fir example if this is the code,
Code:
mysql -uUSERNAME -pPASSWORD DATABASENAME < MYDATABASE.sql
where is that actual location of MYDATABASE.sql

I am running RHEL5 and I have just upgraded my RPM software manager from RPM version 4.4.2 to RPM version 4.9.0 (the latest version) by doing a clean install of v4.9.0. The version 4.4.2 came with the RHEL5 and at the moment is very old so I cannot install certain newer rpms. I followed the INSTALL instructions that comes with the tarball for V4.9.0. The problem is the new install (i.e. RPM V4.9.0) has no knowledge of my old RPM manager i.e. V4.4.2, hence it does not know of the rpm packages installed on my system.
I think the problem is that the V4.9.0 is a new install rather than an upgrade (There are no instructions on how to perform a 'real' upgrade). I have tried to rebuild the rpmdb for v4.9.0 but that does not help and I have no idea how to import the data from v4.4.2 database to v4.9.0 database. My question is, how do I import the database from RPM manager V4.2.2 into RPM manager V4.9.0 or how do I 'upgrade'properly from V4.4.2 to V4.9.0. I have trawled the internet for some guides but there does not seem to be anything regarding this.

I am out of ideas of how to run videos at a remote machine that has a display. I have a debian system with gnome installed and everything is set up but I just don't now how to start the video over anything. I have tried simply to start #vlc video file - but this way it thinks that I want to run it in my bash over at a nother computer. I tried installing vnc but this just ports a new desktop and masically is a terminal which does not give me any control over the display.

Execute putty to start a script on a remote linux server which requires user input The remote script does a read -p "Please enter name" NAME I can use plink to execute a script over SSH, the following attempts and problems are shown below :- Note the -load ns is to load a session that doesnt exist, ie ensure no defaults are used
1) plink.exe -load ns <ip_addr> -l <user> -pw <password> <script path/name> Problem) Doesn't allow/show user input, ie its non-interactive.
2) Add -t to allocate a pty :- plink.exe -t -load nc <ip_addr> -l <user> -pw <password> <script path/name> so now the user input can be seen, but I get Ctrl+H (^H) when backspace is pressed, ok if the user doesnt make a mistake!
3) Use putty instead with a saved session putty.exe -load "SavedSession" Get a new window opened, not a biggy, but not as nice. (b) saved session cannot be easily moved. (c) Get password prompt, cannot provide password like with plink, I know I know, use keys, but this is a closed, private network, and its easier not to bother with keys!I would like the SSH to execute in-line, that is from within the batch file/command line shell I am in, not prompt for username/password, run the linux script and allow prompts and delete/backspace to work.

Seemingly simple question, which yields slightly undesired results. Trying to get OpenbavoPOS to connect to my remote Postgresql database, but so far i've only been able to connect to the local postgres installation. I _am_ able to access the remote databases with psql. I've read literally dozens of pages, and am pulling my hair out. I'm trying jdbc:derby.//192.168.15.10:5432/bravo I get back java.sql.SQLException no suitable driver found for jdbc:derby.//192.168.15.10:5432/bravo If I use jdbc:derby./root/bravo - all is OK, using a local database created in /root I have jdk installed on the client; does it need to be on the server also?

Client = CentOS 4.8 PostgreSQL version 8.1.4

I'm trying to connect to a remote database but can't connect directly (I think due to security reasons). Here's the setup:
Computer A - my computer
Computer B - server, I can SSH to this from computer A
Computer C - server that runs database, I can SSH to this from B but can't from A
Any ideas how I can can connect to C directly from A? I think I need to setup a tunnel or something like that but I can't figure it out.

I can't figure out why I keep getting kicked out of the ssh session almost immediately after login to an ubuntu 9.10 server (32bit).See the screenshot. I just installed this server and didn't make any ssh config options. I thought it would work right away. When I ping that server I get sporadic responses where some packets are lost. It's an old Dell poweredge 1400.where should I start troubleshooting? Authentication? Hardware?

The whole day was more or less spent reinstalling a basic Gnome Ubuntu system. Everything went swimmingly until I started with the XBMC part of the installation. After wrestling with PPAs and apt-get for hours I finally got it installed, but then it all turned awkward in a hurry. It simply refused to start up. I clicked the icon and nothing happened for a good few seconds. The screen then flickered black for an instant, but after that nothing. I started from a terminal and it showed an error message saying it couldn't import Python's os and shutil modules. I found that mighty strange since both modules are part of the Python Standard Library.
Finally, in a bizarre twist, it turns out this doesn't seem to be a XBMC problem, suddenly apt-get started complaining too. TL,DR: I (nor the system) can't import any Standard Library modules in Python in Ubuntu! Is this a path problem? Or have I actually managed to uninstall some vital python packages, if so which ones? I am running Ubuntu 10.10, but I don't think this is necessarily a Ubuntu specific problem. Here are some dumps to show the error messages: (I forgot to copy the XBMC error message, but it looked exactly the same as these below, i.e., it couldn't import the os module) First from apt-get:
Code:
tv@tv:/usr/lib$ sudo apt-get autoremove
[sudo] password for tv:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
[code]....

I am trying to setup a putty session to putty from one Ubuntu machine to another. I know how to setup to connect to the machine from Windows and I am using the same settings for the one I am trying on the Ubuntu machine but it fails to connect. It fails immediately so I believe that putty is not able to find ssh. Is there some configuring that I need to do.
