Server :: SCP Command Is Not Working Properly Due To SSH Enabled?

My Question is I have installed the ssh key authentication in Server A. User can connect this using key file via SSH. without authentication user can't connect this system via SSH. Now I am trying to copy the file from Server B through SCP command. But it is not working. While I am trying use this command from Server B I am getting below error "ssh: connect to host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx port 22: Connection timed out lost connection". xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is Server A. SSH is enabled in both server A,B.
why SCP command is not working?

Im a new member here.So please don't get mad at me.If i posted on a wrong section(Am I in the right section?) By the way,Here is my problem. My graphic card is Intel 82852/82855.And it passes the Ubuntu Desktop Effects requirement. I am aware of enabling the graphic card in Ubuntu 10.10, Since enabling the drivers was successful. I enabled the desktop effects.After i switched to Normal(Graphic Mode)the screen went blank. Then after i clicked ALT+TAB. there is an option to keep this option or not.I clicked Keep this settings. Then i proceeded in Web browsing(because i'm a web addict). Then i click CTRL+ALT+LEFT/RIGHT For the workspaces to switch. Then i found this 4 square transparent with black margin boxes.Which has a weird distorting effect.That effect is going crazy. Then i rebooted(Hoping to fix the problem).Then it is still there.

I created a user named Bob. Now i want to change its home directory to be Bob1. I did this
usermod -d /home/Bob1 Bob
but not effect !!!
The name was still Bob. What might be issue ?

I have installed Ubuntu 10.10 to a live USB stick and created a new user with an encrypted home directory.Everything is working fine apart from a weird problem.when I create a new file or directory in the encrypted home it does not show up in directory listing.eg:cd ~/Documentstouch test.txtls -aldrwxr-xr-x 2 USER USER 4096 2011-03-02 14:12 .drwx------ 32 USER USER 8192 2011-03-02 13:03 ..if I try editing the file by entering the path, it works, even though ls does not list it!eg: nano ./testls as root makes no difference and the file is not hidden.If I create a file in nautilus, it shows there but still does not show in the terminal or any other app

basically in the child process iam just calling the ptrace(PTRACE_TRACEME, 0, NULL, NULL) system call but if add this stsyem call rest of the code not working properly. i found the reason basically what happening is when we have ptrace() system call its printing the same variable 3 times i.e its not executing it 3 times but just it is printing 3 times .iam just wondering how it could be possible.

I just remotely updated my uncle's Ubuntu 10.10 desktop to 11.04. My uncle has no computer skills, so it is very important that I troubleshoot his problems using VNC. After completing the 11.04 upgrade, I was not able to connect to him via VNC. After some fiddling around I was able to connect by turning off the confirmation option in the Security section. We are now using the password security option. The problem is that my uncle does not have any security against my peering eyes.
I tried reinstalling Vinagre, but that didn't help. Is it possible to get the confirmation option working again somehow?
Is there a download link for Vinagre 3.01 (deb)?

building a box with no other interface than tcp/ip. now in case something goes wrong when changing the /etc/network/interfaces via ftp and when rebooting the system cannot bring the interface up I would like to be able to detect it and replace the interfaces file with a default one stored on the system.

Today, I need to talk about some strange problem that faces me in my Linux Server, the power goes down and my server goes off, but when the power returns the server powered on and it works, but some services are not working properly like:
SSH, HTTP
When I try to login remotelt via ssh client like putty it ask me for username but, it hangs after I put my username and not asking me for the password. The second error is related to my web-server which redirect me to Apache default page and when I go for the terminal to make restart for httpd service, here is the output :

Ok so I've been all over Google trying to find an answer as to why my MPD server won't properly output over httpd. When I try to connect to it from any source, it gives me a "404:Entity Not Found" error. There hasn't been any useful info out there to solve this problem. Help please! Attached is my mpd.conf file. All my permissions and firewalls are set up properly AFAIK.

I have some files which are UTF8 and have first line as blank. It shows as data file by "file" command. If I remove the blank line, it shows it as UTF8 text file. I have to choose displayable text files from many files, so I used "file" command.
Note: I do not have permission to attach file. So not able to attach sample file here.

I am using Fedora 12. I have the following problem, when i working with system-config-samba dialog:I add the new user on the server:as following:
Unix username: vova
Windows username:test
As described in Customisation Guide for Red Hat 9: "If the user has a different username on a Windows machine and will be logging into the Samba serverfrom the Windows machine, specify that Windows username in the Windows Username field."So i logged from the Windows machine not under test(Windows username) but under vova.And i logged in without the problem. However it seems that samba should check windows username=test (as have written in samba-config) and ask an password for different users. And additionally, if samba check the currect user in Windows itself and verify it with Unix user, what for we need write the Windows username in samba config? I don't understand

I am running a quad core centos 5.4 box that is having a strange problem with dovecot. The administration panel is able to send emails through dovecot but not any of the user accounts (ie with webmail). I've done a bit of research with what could be wrong but haven't had any luck so far I am also having a weird problem with apache: on a c++/php bittorrent application I was going to be running on a subdomain of my main site I get a 500 error every time I try to log in. The only way to get rid of the 500 error is to clear the chache (so its horribly broken somehow). The error generated in the log whenever I try to log in is that "ffmpeg is already loaded" (which I am running on the main site and is critical). Is there a way of either repairing my apache install or excluding ffmpeg on the subdomain in the conf or something?

Whilst I have used GUI-based Linux distros for the last few years, I am now struggling somewhat when it comes to setting up a server from the command line. All the howto's I've read so far tell you how to set up certain things, but I don't know what I actually need to set up.Rather than asking the same questions all over again on a forum like this, and generally being a bit of a noob, I wonder if there's a resource somewhere that someone could direct me to in order to know what I need to do to set up a fileserver.
The hardware is all done, and I will probably set up a router distro like IpCop to manage the network, but I'm rather lost as to what packages I need, and how to know what the server is/isn't doing.I've used plenty of command lines in the past (ms dos, amiga dos, BASIC programming etc), just not a linux command line. I had a problem with apache2 and getting .htaccess working. I have done some things and i believe its working the ErrorDocument command is anyway. Is there a non-root shell command that can tell me if a user's account is disabled or not? note that there is a fine distinction between LOCKING and DISABLED:
LOCKING is where you prepend ! or * or !! to the password field of the /etc/passwd file. On Linux systems that shadow the passwords, this marker flag may be placed in /etc/shadow instead of /etc/passwd. Password locking can be done (at a shell prompt) via password -l username (as root) to lock the account of username, and the use of the option -u will unlock it.
DISABLING an account is done by setting the expiration time of the user account to some point in the past. This can be done with chage -E 0 username, which sets the expiration date to 0 days after the Unix epoch. Setting it to -1 will disable the use of the expiration date.
The effect of locking to to prevent the login process from using a supplied password to hash correctly against the saved hash (by virtue of the fact that the pre-pended marker character(s) are not valid output character(s) for the hash, thus no possible input can ever be used to generate a hash that would match it). The effect of disabling is to prevent any process from using an account because the expiration date of the account has already passed.For my situation, the use of locking is not sufficient because a user might still be able to login, e.g. using ssh authentication tokens, and processes under that user can still spawn other processes. Thus, we have accounts that are enabled or disabled, not just locked. We already know how to disable and enable the account - it requires root access and the use of chage, as shown above.To repeat my question: is there a shell command which can be run without root privileges which can output the status of this account expiration info for a given user? this is intended for use on a Red Hat Enterprise 5.4 system.The output is being returned to a java process which can then parse the output as needed, or make use of the return code.

I configured DNS in my server while That time SELINUX enabled means It show permission denied error and some errors, but i checked all the directory permissions and all its every thing correct only but not worked..At last I just disabled the SELINUX then its working fine.I Heard SELINUX is for security for Linux operating systems, but why i disabled means only its working??

I cannot ssh into an RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.104) from another RHEL 5.5 server (192.168.20.101) unless server debug is turned on 192.168.20.104, and even then, I have to wait several minutes before the connection is established. scp to and from the 104 server is also not working.Here is the debug output on the 101 server when server debug is not enabled on the 104 server-:

I am using Ubuntu, now installed KDE (kubuntu) and I have Bluetooth working and enabled but for some strange reason the bluetooth scan is not finding any devices in spite of the fact that I have my mobile phone with bluetooth on and discoverable. i have server with rhel3 ES. in folder "/lib64/tls" there is one file named libc.so.6 which is softlink of libc-2.3.2.so. i just copied libc-2.3.4.so from rhel4 AS server to rhel3 server in the same location and override the softlink libc.so.6 as a softlink of libc-2.3.4.so. now no any command is working in this server i.e.(cp,vi,rm mv ls etc.). it is also not opening any terminal and nothing command is working.
