Red Hat / Fedora :: Get Server Refused To Allocate Pty When Connect Ssh From Putty
Aug 27, 2009
I gannot connect to my Linux server using ssh and get Server refused to allocate pty message. Before it was working fine and today the problem appear, i don't know why this problem. Not that i'm new on linux system. my linux version is Linux 2.6.18-8.el5. I only found the same topic in this forum but not find solution, i try ssh with -T but still not working.
I researched a long while and could not find an answer to these problems, so here I am. I have a debian server running on my home network. I have it running LAMP and it has a live website.
I have samba running and share files with my windows 7 machine, so they do connect.
When i try to use putty it always refuses the connection.SQLyog tells me off too, but it only cays it cannot connect.
I was checking into SSH, since that is how they are both trying to connect, but I can not find adequate info online for my problem.
I have debian lenny running, I was pretty sure it has ssh running, but i couldnt locate 'sshd'
Is SSH on there by a different name or do I need to install the service.
(ps - getting samba running was a nightmare, but i think it was windoze fault, i tried setting up the debian machine exactly how the guides said to do, but it never could connect and denied passwords constantly, then the next day after a few windows reboots had happened, all of the sudden it worked. Don't know what the deal was there. Could that be instrumental? Sorry I am a web dev and not a networker so this stuff is not my forte.)
ENV: openssh-server-5.4p1-1.fc13.i686 Problem: I am unable to ssh using Putty (when using ssh-auth/pki) to a fedora box . I get the message: Server refused our key. Here's what I tried so far:
- Tried generating rsa (as well as dsa) keys on the linux server and put the generated public key in the ~/.ssh/authorized_keys. Then I converted the private key using PuttyGen.
- Also, tried generating keys using PuttyGen and then converted the public key and placed it on the server
- Configured the sshd server (ssh_config) for using RSAAuthentication=yes. Tried all combinations and purmutations; however, I still get the "Server refused our key" error.
Can you find my blind spot? I had PuTTY up & running untill I did a reinstall of Fedora13.I can ping 192.168.1.163 fine. SELinux is disabled. Firewall is default (SSH allowed on p22).I have just disabled the firewall with same result)
PuTTY reports: =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= PuTTY log 2010.07.20 16:23:52 =~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~= Event Log: Writing new session log (SSH raw data mode) to file: C:UserswimDesktopputty.log
I have a virtual dedicated server, running - Linux Red Hat Fidora core 6- Pentium 4, 3ghz
I'm attempting to use Putty to log in SSH, but I'm getting an error.
Saying the sever unexpectedly close network connection.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it. This is a new computer, that hasn't logged in using putty before. Also I'm on a home wireless network. It dosen't seem to be a firewall issue, the error message pops up, when the firewall is disabled.
And I just had Go Daddy do a reboot. Oh, and I think I might have entered my password incorrectly a few times, last night.
I remember the Go Daddy rep, saying that my IP address may be flagged, but that it would unfilter and unlock it self within an hour or so. It's been over 24 hrs.
Before the password issue, i was able to log in.. But i can't now.
Others can log in. So there unable to duplicate the problem.
I am not able to connect to server through putty, my collegue is able to connect to same server from his desktop through putty.
I am getting ssh session and after providing user id an password its stays still and no error message. firewall and se linux is disabled and also i checked tcpwrappers there is not restriction given.
I have FileZilla installed on this machine, and OpenSSH (with an open port 22) on another machine on my home network. When I try and connect, I get: Quote: Status:Connecting to 192.168.2.3... Response:fzSftp started Command: open "alphatwo@192.168.2.3" 22 Error:Connection refused Error:Could not connect to server
Which has left me puzzled as I have an open port. Does the username have to be defined somewhere? E.g. the machine acting as my SFTP server can be logged on to locally as alphatwo so that's what I logged in as (with the correct password). Is this correct? If so, does anyone have any ideas as to how I might rectify it? I want SFTP set up so I can copy PHP files from my laptop to /var/www/html/ on another PC (across the home network).
Right now I have a machine set up running Fedora. I have configured inittab to accept Console Logins, but I am having problems getting my netbook running PuTTY to connect. How would I go about finding the Host Name and Port to connect to?
I've been allowed to work on the server of a forum. I was given the username and password, and with them logged in successfully on the server using PuTTY, but now I'm not sure what command I use to do anything to the users on the forum For example how would I change someone's username or password, etc.
I am merely trying to change the port for my ssh server. However it isn't changing.I edited my ssh_config file to:
Code:
# This is the ssh client system-wide configuration file. See # ssh_config(5) for more information. This file provides defaults for[code]...
When i try to connect to my server via port 443 i get a connection refused error. However when i try to connect via port 22 it connects. Since that didn't work, i tried restarting the entire server. To restate, i changed the config file and restarted ssh then the computer, however the port didn't change.Ohh and yes my router is set to port forwarding on port 443, though it doesn't matter since I'm inside the network.
I can't connect to my Suse server by ssh (using putty) cause console shows me this message: connection reset by peer some times, other times It let me type the user but when I going to enter the password It reset the connection. What I did?? Reinstalled the ssh, but everything was same, the problem still appears. So I reinstalled the Operating System, now but when I going to connect to server the problem appears again! What could be the cause of this behavior??
I have a Rackspace server running Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, where I have installed an IRCd-Hybrid. I can connect to the IRC server using irssi that was installed on the same machine where the server is, but when I try to access it from my computer at home or my friends try I get this error: Code: Connection Refused What should I do?
When I was checking the /var/log/messages, I found these entries:
Mar 16 15:14:38 localhost smbd[13347]: [2010/03/16 15:14:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:14:38 localhost smbd[13347]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13691]: [2010/03/16 15:24:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13691]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13692]: [2010/03/16 15:24:38, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:24:38 localhost smbd[13692]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13716]: [2010/03/16 15:27:34, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13716]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13718]: [2010/03/16 15:27:34, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_connect(78) Mar 16 15:27:34 localhost smbd[13718]: Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost:631 - Connection refused
CUPS is stopped in the system and the system is configured as samba server. What could be the reason for these printing requests from smbd?
Im having some problem with my DNS. We are using a Linux web server as one of our web server which runs some live websites. When I trying to get the status of the DNS (NAMED) it comes the following error :
The same error appears when Im trying to apply any changes on zone level for a selected doamin in WEBMIN. (Basically can't apply changes)
WEBMIN > Servers > BIND DNS servers > click a selected-domain.co.uk > Apply changes
But the server seems to be running without effecting any probelms to the sites or users. I have been searching weeks for this problem & couldn't find a solution. And also Please note that Im bit new to Linux.
when I try to connect via PuTTY from a windows machine I get " PuTTY Fatal error connection timed out. I try to do so via a router redirecting IPadr:86 to local adr:22 on the Linux machine.
I seems not to be a routing issue since the router is setup to redirect apparently correctly.
Well I have stopped iptables and selinux is disabled. The sshd deamon is running. I can logon with ssh locally "ssh webcamATlocal adr".
For some reason my mail server (Postfix) seems to have stopped delivering mail.
The error in the mail logs is "status=deferred (delivery temporarily suspended: connect to 127.0.0.1[127.0.0.1]: Connection refused) against all mails.
I have researched to try and find an answer, most information on this problem seems to point to a malfunction in the Anti Virus and Spam Filtering solution.
I have checked that Amavisd and Clamd are both operating and have restarted Postfix but all to no avail, squirrelmail is not working either.. ie not even producing a login page.
I have not changed anything in the config and am just wondering if anyone has experienced similar and could point me in the right direction of a solution.
I have my desktop computer (running F13) configured to accept ssh over port 22 via the firewall configuration tool. If I type ifconfig -a, this computer, which is running on my wireless network, tells me:
However, if I go to my laptop computer (also running F13) and try and ssh into the desktop, i.e. ssh icthy@192.168.1.100, I get this response:
Code:
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.100 port 22: Connection refused.
I guess I am confused to what is blocking the connection? Is there another means on F13 other than the default Firewall? I haven't really messed with the network at all. For what it's worth, I am hoping to set things up so I can just ssh into the computer name, (ssh icthy@desktop) eventually, but want to start with the IP. So, can anyone offer a hint as to what I can look for that is blocking port 22?
I am doing some R&D on 11g RMAN in oracle at home. i have installed oracle enterprise linux and i have installed oracle software. when i am trying to configure listener, it is error-ed out. i have verified that telnet with the port is not working and i am seeing connection refused error.
I have a box running Fedora 14 upstairs and I've been trying to get it to run VNC server, unsuccessfully. I've RTFM, and followed the instructions step-by-step, but it still won't run. I'm getting no error messages. But when I try to connect from either a Window or Mac client, it either get a timeout or connection refused. I've read and tried all the troubleshooting; been working on this for about 12 hours now. Is there something major that I could be overlooking?
I am experiencing a bit of a problem with openssh-server. I installed the server like I normally do. It wouldn't work, so I tried using this. It still didn't work. Later, I have realised that when using service sshd start SSH says it started, but when you check if it's running with service sshd status it says it doesn'triend advised me to use /etc/init.d/sshd and I managed to get it started. However, that doesn't return anything, and when I try to connect it says connection refused even when I try to connect from localhost to localhost
One of my colleague has created a LINUX machine with VMWare. This machine has a name such as S003AP03 and IP adress. Normally one can connect to the machine by using putty with the machine's name or IP-Address. But to this machine one can't connect it with it's name. Something should wrong.
I can log in when using the keyboard from the server no problems but when I try and log on from my laptop this morning using putty I can connect type in my user name but when I put in my password it says access denied now I also can not FTP and webmin does not connect to the server but I can get to the web pages no problem with a browser so can this be fixed or do I have to start from scratch again to get me logged in with putty and webmin somehow the password is not working in ssh.
How can I connect to Linux (which is in a VM) from the host PC using putty? I can ping the 192.168.1.108 from my host PC. And there is sshd process running on Linux. I choose the SSH to connect, but gives error.
I'm using putty 0.60 (on Windows Vista) to connect by ssh protocol to other Linux computer. I have a problem with VI/VIM. When I key button "n" or "b", it returns me n^Z or b^Z.
I am getting this error message on ktorrent on slackware 13.1 64. Few days ago I was using ktorrent for torrent downloads and it was fine, but not i can't star any download or any kind of torrent, it just keeps returning the error and it's not working at all.
I have a new Ubuntu server (10.10), named Denholm, recently installed and updated. I came in this morning, attempted to add a package with apt-get, and got a "Connection refused" response. I have another server (also 10.10), named Moss, on the same network that can connect successfully.
Here's what I've found/tried so far:
This doesn't look like and apt problem anyway, but the sources.list files on Denholm and Moss are identical.
I can ping [URL] (and other sites) successfully from Denholm.
I have tried 'wget www.google.com'. From Moss the wget is successful, but from Denholm I get "Connection refused."
I have a web server on Moss and Denholm can successfully access it.
To the best of my knowledge, Denholm is not configured to use a proxy server (no http_proxy variable set).
I cannot use GRsync from Ubuntu Desktop to PCLinuxOS laptop. The 2 computers can ping each other. I have disabled both firewalls. My laptop IP address is 192.168.1.11This is the error on Ubuntu Grsync:
ssh: connect to host 192.168.1.11 port 22: Connection refused rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (0 bytes received so far) [sender] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [sender=3.0.7] Rsync process exit status: 12
On PCLinuxOS it wont say Ethernet is connected when trying a static address setup. However it does connect to the internet via auto Ethernet setup and a LAN cable. It then says connected. In order to use SSH and GRsync what programs are required? I have these installed on both machines: grsync openssh-client openssh-server
