OpenSUSE :: Clvm Make Pacemaker Crash?
Sep 7, 2010
I've got a big problem using lvm2 with pacemaker. My installed packages age:
lvm2-clvm v: 2.02.45-11.3.1
pacemaker v: 1.0.1-20.3
openais v: 0.80.3-26.2
I'm currently using 2 virtual machines with opensuse 11.2 (virtualbox). The network and the cluster is working fine, running /etc/init.d/openais start the cluster goes up and:

Running 'zypper install lvm2-clvm' results in a message: Resolving package dependencies... Problem: nothing provides libcpg.so.2()(64bit) needed by lvm2-clvm-2.02.45-16.2.x86_64 Solution 1: do not install lvm2-clvm-2.02.45-16.2.x86_64 Solution 2: break lvm2-clvm by ignoring some of its dependencies So it cannot find the cpg library, which appears to be a part of openais (if I believe google). I have configured the following repositories:

What could be the problem here? Am I just missing a repository or is cluster LVM not supported on opensuse 11.3?

I like to download the source. I never had like the 1 click install. It no fun. It take out all the fun to install. I know that nVidia is way better for linux. But having a integrated nvidia 6100. Kinda make my keyboard crash at times. I ask my friend parent. And they said they give me there for FREE. So here I am with a Radeon X700 PRO (RV410) (PCIE). I have a x32 bit computer ^.^ and 11.2. But I'm having trouble finding good info on install the driver. So I can used it to play games and such. So I'm asking is, to hit me up with everything I'm going to need to install this right.

What I did not realize was, that DLM uses the external Ethernet Interface even when talking to the local machine/node. So iptables was blocking my DLM daemon. With iptables down or the TCP port for DLM opened, cman starts, mount works. What I have here is a fibrechannel SAN which will be directly attached to several servers in the near future. Thise servers should be enabled access to a single filesystem on the SAN (shared).I heard that the right filesystem choice for this kind of setup would be GFS, because it has a Distributed Lock Manager and one FS journal for each node.
But I am having trouble setting up GFS. I have managed to create a GFS on a small testvolume (local HDD so far), but am unable to mount it. It seems that GFS/DLM needs a lot of cluster services to run, which I do not all understand / know how to correctly setup. Also: Will the lock_dlm stuff need Ethernet communications to handle file locks? And if so, will it fetch the node list from /etc/cluster/cluster.conf to determine who to talk to?

I've set a two-node cluster using Pacemaker/OpenAIS. I have only one network and if I break this one, the communication between node is interrupted ... With a ClusterIP resource, when network is breaked, then each node start the ClusterIP => 2 same IP .. Is there a way to define the prefered location of a resource when connection between these nodes is broken ?
A <==> B
If one of the node lose the network, then follow a previously written rule : start resource on A (for example). B will know than it's not the prefered node and so, will stop to serve. Possible ? This is because if both node are connected, but a problem between these node occur and client can join both node ... then the split brain is problematic ... A better solution is to add a rule when the split-brain occurs : all node wich can't reach the gateway have to stop all resources ... And so, if it's A wich lose the network, service will start on B and only B without any problem ...

Basically I have a machine with 16GB of RAM and have just discovered that using all of it can crash the whole system over one process. How could I run a process on the system in such a way that if more than 90% of system memory is used, the process immediately crashes?

I'm trying to build a Fedora 12 cluster to run DHCP on top of two servers using pacemaker and drbd. The pacemaker runs great but i'm having the hardest time getting DRBD installed.
My kernel version is 2.6.32.11-99.fc12.i686.PAE First i tried to [root@dhcp-primary drbd]#yum install drbd this doesn't give me everything because apparently the kernel module for DRBD must be built from source. so i unpacked drbd-8.3.6.tar.gz and tried :

I'm not very experienced in compiling from source i'd love to make an rpm for this but after scouring the web and trying different install methods, I am still at a loss.

I tried KDE 4.4. I'm back to using KDE 4.3.5. Very bad experience for me, maybe it's just my system openSuSE 11.1 on AMD x86_64 with 4gb memory. Dolphin was unusable. Deleting a file cause it to crash, go in to a directory with a large number (20,000) of images and it would hang and eventually crash. PIM has removed some of the features I used, main one being ability to add Custom Fields to Contacts and assign categories.
In general, the whole thing was slower, not faster, probably because now it requires Neopmunk to be running and the Akondi server. I'll wait a while and try again and see if it gets stable in first update.

I sometimes use webkit in Konqueror to view certain sites, but lately I haven't been able to since Konqueror crash everytime I activate webkit. I searched for this issue on the web and found among others this:[URL].. I downgraded Flash to 10.0.45xxx and it seems like Konqueror runs fine with webkit now. However I now got this message browsing Hattrick.org:
icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. This error only occur when using webkit, not with KHTML.

I have a huge problem with my file server (OpenSuse 11.3 - 64bit, kernel-2.6.34.7-0.7-default). I've just installed an Intel SASUC8I card, connected 3 of the 7 Samsung 2TB drives I have to it and after about one hour, it dropped 2 of the disks. I've managed to trace the problem to the card BIOS, which I've replaced with the non-raid edition, so it should now work fine with the kernel raid now. The problem is that I can't find a way to "un-fail" these 2 disks. I'm more than positive, that these drives are just fine, only the controller was misbehaving. The dropout also couldn't have created any data inconsistency either, since the 2 drives dropped out virtually at the same time and there was no writing being done at the time. I've tried add/re-add, I get either mdadm: cannot get array info for /dev/md0 or mdadm: add new device failed for /dev/sdi1 as 7:
Invalid argument (depending on the raid being run or being stopped, in either case, mdstat reports it to be inactive)
For a normal or forced assemble, I get mdadm: /dev/md0 assembled from 5 drives and 1 spare - not enough to start the array.I've been googleing like crazy, also trying to get info from mdadm's help and man, but nothing seems to deal with such a freak accident. An other interesting thing is, that if I reboot the system, mdstat shows md0 as inactive, but lists all the devices with no flags. It's only after a run command, that it changes to the 5 remaining devices, all with (S) flags. Alternatively: does anyone know where device failure info is stored? If I could in some way remove this information from the system (even by reinstalling the OS), I should be able to reassemble the array... Or is it stored in the member drive super-blocks? About 80% of this array's data is backed up, so if all else fails, I can restore most of its content, but I'd much prefer to reassemble this one as a whole, since there was absolutely no chance of data corruption.

For a few days now every time I start xdvi, Xorg crashes completely. The screen freezes and no input seems to have any effect. So I have to reset the PC. I'm on a 64 bit 11.4, KDE setup, the graphics driver is nouveau.
Here is the part of Xorg.0.log, that seems to be relevant:
Code:
Backtrace:
[ 1772.204] 0: /usr/bin/Xorg (xorg_backtrace+0x28) [0x483068]
[ 1772.204] 1: /usr/bin/Xorg (0x400000+0x5e6d9) [0x45e6d9]
[ 1772.204] 2: /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x7f16585e5000+0x32b30) [0x7f1658617b30]
[Code].....
I tried to reinstall the packages containing libc.so.4 and libexa.so with no improvement.
Are there any other log files, that could give more information?

I've installed OpenSUSE 11.2 x64 on my Intel Core 2 Quad machine with 8GB of RAM nstallation went perfect. After the main installation, I've installed the XEN-kernel. Booting into the XEN-kernel goes fine. But, now I want to install the first domU (paravirtualized). I use the same installation disk but OpenSUSE 11.2 won't install. It crashes directly. Neither the x64 or the x86 version works. The strange thing is that I can install OpenSUSE 11.2 as "full virtualized".Also, OpenSUSE 11.1 (paravirtualized!) as a domU works perfect!!

Also it will work perfectly with other KDE4 theme. Is this a bug or I need to setup something? I like the "Polyester" theme and I want to use it.

Since when I upgraded OpenSuse from 10.2 to 11.3 (big jump, I know!), I can no longer use OpenOffice. When Java is Active, the OO applications crash after a few operations. Most of times they don't even start.
When run in a terminal, OO answers with errors like this:
Code:

I have OO.o 3.1.1.4 installed on my SuSE 11.2 system. (It came with it.)I've tried connecting to my older OO.o address book database and it seems to have connected (I get no error messages) but when I try to open the database source from within Writer, or any other OO.o tool (either by pressing F4 or going to View > Data Sources) OpenOffice crashes. I can open my database as an .ods or a .dbf or .odb.When I open it as an .odb, I end up with some sort of form wizard designer. All looks ok, the table is there (and it looks good!) but then what? If I close that wizard, the table then closes with it.
I've also used File > Templates > Address Book Source. After using that, if I hit F4, OOo crashes. My main problem is that OO.o crashes when I try to view the database source from within a document.P.S. I do have Java (Sun's version of Java 1.6.0) installed and OO.o seems to know it's there and is registered.

HARDWARE SPECS:
- Intel P4 3.2GHz
- Gigabyte G32M-S2L
- 3GB RAM DDR2
- 3 x 1TB RAID5 (MDADM)
- 1 x 1TB OS Drive
New Linux user here. I'm running 11.3 x64 gnome (runlevel3) on my headless home file server. I've mounted my RAID array onto /shared and have setup samba (through Yast) for file sharing. However I am having an issue when I transfer multiple small files over the network (i.e music) it will crash the box. I am unable to reach it through ping or SSH. It is also physically unresponsive where by connecting a keyboard or mouse to the system will not work.
Looking through /var/log/messages does not indicate any sort of issue. I've tried turning off unnecessary programs (rTorrent etc) to make sure it isn't overloading the connections however the box still crashes. Although transferring files locally from HDD to HDD does not crash the server.
