OpenSUSE Wireless :: Unlock Hey Ring To Get Wireless To Come Up On Boot?

I have made a computer for my 11 year old son. I installed 11.3 on the drive. It all works now except for one thing. The wireless wants to access the key ring but it's locked until I give it the password The problem with this is ntp doesn't set the time properly because the network is not up until the password is input. And even then it doesn't work because the server it attached to ( god knows where) isn't giving the correct time. I want to unlock the keyring permanently. This system doesn't run a nuclear missile silo and it's behind a pretty good fire wall. So security isn't a big concern. SO how do I unlock the hey ring to get the wireless to come up on boot?

I recently installed UBuntu 11.04 and dual booting it with WIndows 7, I really like linux and considering removing W7 and only have Ubuntu But the problem is I can only connect when using an ethernet cable, when it comes to wirelesss, I type my password, yet a ring keep rotating and it never connects. My laptop is HP-G62

I've just upgraded from openSUSE 11.2 to 11.3. In 11.2 everything worked fine: I've booted my laptop, logged in and turn my wireless card on using the hardware wireless button, the KDE Wallet opened up, I inserted the password and voil�, wireless connection was on.But after upgrading from 11.3, it doesn't work like that anymore. I need to have the hardware wireless button pressed to on during boot, otherwise Network Manager will not work. And yes, I do check the "Enabled wireless" option, but it doesn't work. When I tried to check it out, I found out that the wireless "Scan" button that scans and displays the available wireless connections shows nothing.So, if I forget to put the wireless on for boot, I must restart and put it on. I've tried log off and log on, and restarting some network services, but neither worked.I have an Intel Corporation PRO/Wireless 2200BG, as showed below, and I'm posting this message using it.

I have a question, I have had this problem before and now its doing it again. When I use my wifi and I have to enter a my WPA WPA2 password, the unlock password ring box appears and it asks for the unlock key ring password, but when I try and enter it, I can't, my desktop just locks up on me and does not allow me to enter my password. How can I correct this problem? I ran the command to remove the unlock ring key password, however when I try to create a new one, it just locks up, I can't even type it inside the box.

Want to eventually make the switch over but figure taking it slow and learning on an old laptop would be best.
I went through the installer and everything looks great so far except I can't for the life of me seem to be able to get the wireless working. I tried everything a windows newb like me could think of ... it looks like to me the wireless card is not being used since it can't detect anything? I read some threads and here are the results of common terminal stuff that most people say to do:

I have a Acer Revo R3610 nettop on which I installed oS11.3. It has an Atheros AR5001 wireless network adaptor.I'm getting very bad latency and throughput on with this card. In comparison my Thinkpad with Intel card achieves at least 10 times the throughput from the same location. Also when I boot my wifi will come up authenticate and then a few seconds later disconnect and reconnect. I've tried updating the kernel to 2.6.35 as one of the fixes was to improve the performance of the ath5k driver. I'm using wpa2 authentication.

I had the Wireless Broadband working. It stopped working after I closed the laptop (suspend). Also the wifi will not connect until reboot. Now the entry for the Wireless Broadband is gone, and the tab for it is greyed out as well.I would be happy to submit this as a bug and assist with the debugging process.

I got ubuntu working fine on my netbook and wanted to play around with opensuse. I have it installed and everything works fine except my wireless connection. I have updated everything since the installation through a wired connection, that didn't help. I have read the stickies, but to be honest, I'm so new to this stuff I'm kinda lost. So my wireless network has a WEP encryption and I have entered that password as a 64 HEX Key in the Wireless Manager widget. It connects to the network and says is labeled as active, however there is still the yellow exclamation shield next to the connection. Firefox and other apps don't have access to the internet.

On Opensuse 11.2, I would like to connect my ipod touch to a wireless ad-hoc network of my laptop. I have no wireless WIFI-router at home, so I have to use the laptop as a router to the internet. I know I have to enter a static IP adres and my router's address, but where ? I haven't found any place under network tools to do this, only saw some fields with SSID's and MAC addresses to fill in.

I've got openSUSE 11.3 running via liveUSB on a netbook and no matter how many times I try, I cannot get wireless to connect to my network.
My network is:
- non-broadcast
- WPA2 Personal
- G
The netbook is fairly recent from Asus and wireless works perfectly with Fedora 11 and Windows XP.

i'm running 11.3 kde 4.4, with a Broadcom 4318. since installing 11.3 a few days ago, whenever i'm connected via wireless, one of two things always happen: when trying to play video (hulu, ....., etc.) in firefox, within a minute or so i will get the BSOD--that is, my screen will go black, and my cap/num lock lights will flash on and off. also, when regularly browsing the internet...not long after opening firefox, it will stop working like i have no connection, and then i will get a frozen screen and system within a minute or two after seeing a variation of this communication message:

Sorry for repeating the same old complaint but there doesn't seem to be a common fix: Wireless does not work on my Presario R3000 although SUSE 11.x lists the hardware in the Hardware Information list and the hardware is turned on. Network Manager doesn't display any wireless networks in SUSE while Win 7 can see 4 of them on the same machine. Ubuntu has no problem either

I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

Just installed 11.3 on a older Dell Dimension 8200 with a D-Link DWA-160 N dual band USB card. The install went ok and the card works (seems a little slow right now but that is next on the list). However, when I run YOU I get the following conflict:
"compat-wireless-kmp-default-2.6.37_k2.6.34.0_12-17.1.i586 requires kernel (default:drivers_usb_core)=6faa2c62dac4f41d, but this requirement cannot be met. Uninstallable providers: kernel-default-base-2.6.34-12.3.i586[openSUSE-11.3 11.3-1.82]"
when the system wants to install patch:Kernel-3038.noarch and patch:Kernel-3709.noarch. I cannot seem to find a suitable provider for the default:drivers_usb_core. Is this something to address here or do I need to go to [URL]?

I am running openSUSE 11.3 updated with all the latest patches and I cannot connect to my wireless router. I am running Linux Mint 10 on the same type of notebook HP Compaq 6910p and it worked right after the install. If I take off the security WPA & WPA2 Personal I can connect. lspci -v | less shows this for my wireless card.

I am using the same settings for both notebooks just can't figure out why openSUSE 11.3 won't connect. I get the prompt to key in my password, I've even checked the box to show password to make sure I was keying it in correctly. Everything was good but it just goes right back to the password prompt after it fails trying to connect.

My wireless device is an integrated Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, I am unsure about the driver I have in use. I am sure I have a driver installed because the configuration screen shows my network. I currently have the computer plugged into my network via CAT 5 but I would like to be able to use the wireless (obviously.) I am using Open SuSE version 11.2 and I have run the updater. I could not see my wireless network before running the updater and I can now so I know that the updates have helped but I am again stuck. I have tried to search the wireless forum and I have tried to tinker with the settings in YaST , but nothing seems to be working. I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.
