I had the Wireless Broadband working. It stopped working after I closed the laptop (suspend). Also the wifi will not connect until reboot. Now the entry for the Wireless Broadband is gone, and the tab for it is greyed out as well.I would be happy to submit this as a bug and assist with the debugging process.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an odd problem in that my wireless connection is okay until I close the laptop. When I open it back up, I'm unable to reconnect. This problem first occurred after upgrading to 9.10. I can reconnect after restarting. I tried several things before breaking down and reinstalling 9.04. After installing 9.04, everything works great. Any suggestions on what is going on before I try upgrading to 9.10 again? I have a Dell D600.

I have no wireless WIFI-router at home, so I have to use the laptop as a router to the internet. I know I have to enter a static IP adres and my router's address, but where ? I haven't found any place under network tools to do this, only saw some fields with SSID's and MAC addresses to fill in.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am using OpenSuse 11.4(32 bit) on my Lenovo B460 laptop, and as the title points, am unable to use wireless on it. The 'enable wireless' option from icon menu is not greyed out, however clicking it does nothing, it remains disabled.

so it seems that opensuse knows my hardware but networkmanager doesn't! I have all broadcom packages installed as well as kernel-firmware installed.
I have Lenovo G550 and openSUSE 11.4. Everything's ok, wifi without problems, I could connect to anywhere I wanted to, but yesterday while laptop was running and was connected actually by wire to internet, after removing the wire I realized that I cannot connect to wifi (the laptop was hibernated during night) - even the light diode in the front of the laptop was not shining. I went to yast and realized that the wlan0 isn't enabled and there's new eth1 port. But the wlan by ifup I cannot start and the eth1 I cannot start as well.

This works fine providing wireless internet over Verizon's cellular service using Windoze 7 Starter os. I installed Ubuntu 9.1 (canonical) on the NB305 and I found a network device GUI that allowed me to configure "Mobile Broadband" for Verizon and allowed me to check a little box to automatically start the service. This action does not provide me with Verizon on Ubuntu. When I looked at the devices, I cannot see the gobi 2000.How do I get the gobi to work on 9.1?

WIFI Connection via my home desktopUsing Netgear WG111v3 USB Adapter.2. Virgin Broadband USB Mobile Broadband stickI have no problem connecting this via my Windows Vista operating system.Somehow, under Open SUSE 11.2, this is a problem. 2. Virgin Broadband - I managed to get the Virgin Broadband icon of a mobile phone saying that it's connected and "Active" by keying in the number "*99#", username/password as blank and APN as VirginBroadband". However, when I launch Firefox browser, I couldn't get to any external Website even though the icon for the Virgin Broadband says that it's Active and connected.
So what's the problem ?1. WIFI Connectivity to Home Desktop WIFI - with this I have never never got any connection at all. It kept saying "Activating" and I have set up the connection and entered the WEP 128-bit paraphrase hex digits. I need help with connecting to cdma mobile broadband for a tethered samsung phone. When I first installed Suse the phone icon on the network manager icon was all i needed to do to connect to the cdma network.After rebooting later the icon is gone and i cannot manage to connect. The connection is still there, but it is as if the computer no longer recognizes my phone as a modem. Well sense i just installed i figured lets try reinstalling to see if it was a bad installation. It happened exactly the same again. If anyone has any idea how to get network manager to allow me to connect to the internet again i would be grateful.

I've been running Karmic since it was officially released on my Dell Studio 17 (specs are in my signature) with a Broadcom wireless half mini wireless card.hen I installed Karmic, it gave me the option to install proprietary drivers for my video card as well as 2 Broadcom drivers, STA and one of the BC43 drivers. I installed all of these, and the only problems I had were with the audio. I spent a few days troubleshooting the audio and finally got PulseAudio set up for my card.
Almost 3 months later, I was making use of my wireless network at home, as I had done plenty of times over the previous 3 months, when I closed the lid (thus putting the computer into sleep mode) and took it to the hospital to stay with my fiancé¥ after her surgery. When I got to the hospital, I couldn't get their network to show up. Network Manager didn't even recognize the network. We had also brought my fianc饧s laptop (same machine with a slightly less powerful CPU and only 4 GB of RAM). She is running Windows 7, which detected the hospital's network with no problems.After trying to ad-hoc the hospital network with no success, I finally just gave up and played Sudoku and toyed with some graphics stuff in GIMP until we came home. Upon returning home, however, I was shocked that my card didn't even detect our home network.
I have been unsuccessful for the past 3 days in getting Network Manager to identify our wireless network. The wired network connects without issue and I am able to make use of a USB Belkin adapter, which identifies all 7 of the various wireless networks in my neighborhood, including our home network.While I would be able to simply carry my Belkin adapter with me in order to make use of wireless networks, I would really like to solve this problem with my Broadcom adapter. View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 'ice.net' D-50 (CDMA EV-DO rev A) mobile broadband USB modem, also sold as Cmotech CNU-680 in other areas. The modem is connected to a USB port on a hp8710w mobile workstation.
As the 11.2 Gnome Network Manager won't connect this modem to Internet (see my first post here), I have downloaded and installed a 'D50 Modem Manager program' from [url]
After unpacking and installing this cmotech-qtmodem-1.6-1.i586.rpm package for suse on 11.2 x86_64, the gui application 'D-50 Modem Manager' is found in the Internet Group.
However, neither this program does connect the D-50 modem really on 11.2 x86_64 (as it did on 11.1 x86_64). Tried both traditional network setup and with Network Manager.
Any idea and suggestion how to trobleshoot this further? I think I've seen that a newer version cmotech-qtmodem 1.9 has been mentioned on the web, but without being able to find and download this version.

I am trying to use the HUAWEI E1756C USB stick to connect to the internet. Installing usb_modeswitch and usb_modeswitch-data allowed networkmanager to "recognize" the stick and set up a mobile broadband connection.
The result is that NM succeeded in connecting (one of every five attempts) but firefox does not surf, nor emails can be downloaded etc. Just like if not being connected. The USB modem shows the steady blue LED as connected.
A NM issue? I have tried disabling NM control and tried with PPP clients like NMTSMON, wvdial and even Sakis3g. All with the same results. They seem to connect and show flux up and downloaded but no surfing.
resolf.conf shows is pretty much empty and no DNS there.
The working settings in Window$ are:
Same settings with Sakis3G, or NMTSMON or NM result in connection with no action from applications that use the internet.
I have had a similar issue with WLAN each time I change to a different network. I solve that by forcing to update the DHCP. I mean using -su dhcpd wlan0
But attempts like dhcpcd ttyUSB0 or dhcpcd ttyS0 get the same result. So no idea if this is an DHCP, or DNS or another issue.

Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.

The main problem I am having at the time is the wireless button will not turn on so there for I have no internet access. The switch works fine in windows, but not in ubuntu. The switch didn't work with the live cd either, but I thought it might after install. The wired card that is in the laptop is no good and quit working a couple of years ago so all I have is wireless now.

I'm using Kde and gnome 3, everything was working fine under the 2.6.39 kernel, but now both only detects my wired connection. Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated. I have a Netgear WNDA3100 adapter that uses the Atheros drivers. It also is no longer detected in my Fedora 15 after upgrading the kernel, but it still works in Mint 11 with the 2.6.38.8 kernel.

I just finished installing a fresh install of openSuse on my old Compaq Presario V2600 laptop. The problem is, for some reason, it always boots to the terminal instead of starting x and the gnome desktop environment. I have to manually start x every time with the command startx. Then, after x has been started, the display is an unusually low resolution, and it wont let me change it. I tried running sax2 -r -m 0=vesa but this did not help fix the problem.
The second problem I am having is that my integrated wireless on the laptop does not work. It is a Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN. Please help with this as well (I know I will probably have to use proprietary drivers just like I did in Ubuntu, but I can't find how to install these drivers under openSuse.) If you need to know more about the specs of my laptop, here you go:

However the internet does not work, I know the internet is online as my main Desktop Pc (Running Windows 7 64bit) which I'm typing this on, is connected to the internet!
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just a had laptop meltdown which resulted in the acquisition of a replacement (HP635) sporting a realtek wireless NIC. Found the drivers and installed them and all is well. HOWEVER, the card is not activated on wake from sleep mode. This is kind of astounding to me. Every crappy windows version that I've used can handle this situation. Many searches, however have failed to yield any help. After every resume from sleep mode I have to run ifup to start wlan0. Surely this is not the only way it can be? I have to assume that I'm not getting something simple, and someone here can point out my failing. or if you can just sympathize. running 11.4 here using the realtek 8192 driver set to start at boot time. Though none of the other settings have had any effect on this problem.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can connect my laptop via the ethernet cable, and get an IP, Subnet mask, and a route. But if I connect via Wireless, I get an IP and Subnet mask.
More interesting, my Internet Tablet grabs the route via wireless with out issues.
I have an HP Pavilion dv7-1243cl laptop. It has an internal wifi that works ok at home but when I'm traveling I stay at RV Campgrounds the wifi signal gets pretty weak. So I Installed an external antenna.(ALFA model AWUS036H). The signal gets a full 5 bars.
Now the problem. I dual boot OS11.3 and Windows 7 pro. Everything works as expected on MS. When In boot to OS11.3 I can only connect to the internal antenna. (real spotty). If I turn off the internal antenna I can't connect to the external one. Knetwork manager show/detects and shows the strength of both of the signals only when the internal is on. On MS7 I can turn off the internal and it will connect to the external one with no problem. Is there anyway to get OS to allow me to connect to my choice of antenna? I've been into manage connections and selected wlan1 (external). no joy.
