OpenSUSE Wireless :: Card Not Working - RTL8188CE - Error 2

To become familiar with unix I decided to install a partition of openSUSE. I'm currently running 11.4 and how to get my wireless card working. I know that I have an RTL8188CE. I downloaded the realtek drivers from Realtek However, when I try to execute the make command I get the following error:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.34.7-0.5-default/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [all] Error 2
I've made sure that I've installed the packages in both the base development and the C, C++ packages. I looked under the base development package and know for sure that i have make installed. I'm not really what i'm missing

I have an acer lab top and OpenSuSE 11.2 installed but now the wireless card is not working. With ubuntu I had a tool called jokey to install missing drivers. Does there exist a jockey version (rpm not deb) for OpenSUSE or is there i simillar tool.

I have a dwa-125 dlink wireless card which will not work. This is my first time using OpenSuse 11.2 (Well OpenSuse period). I had the same problem with Ubuntu 9.10 as well. I am trying openSUSE after a long break from Linux, but I am running into the original issue I ran into several years ago which made me decide not to use this distro. My LAN card is working fine, and I can get internet hardwired into my router, but I am not having any luck getting my wireless card recognized or working. Also, my notification area on my taskbar (sorry for the Windows terms) is not showing any sort of network status icon.
I have gone Computer>Install Software> and installed the b43 fwcutter thing from the repos, and have also run the following command in terminal:
sudo /usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware
In Network Settings in YaST, my NIC is showing, but I am still not seeing my Wireless card.

I have a AR928X wireless card and everything I have tried has failed. The default driver ath9k scans and connects to my router but cant connect to any site or ping anything , same with the madwifi driver

I read through the sticky of wireless card not working, and I followed through with the steps, with the exception of looking for firmware, because I'm certain it has it, being that the card works when I'm running Windows, and overall the system recognizes the device.
The only difference is, I notice that the activity light on the card itself does not turn on when running openSUSE. It recognizes the card, it even detects the network, but when I enter the WEP key and finish, it does nothing afterwards. Still no internet.

Well this my first time working with linux and openSUSE, and I love it. But one problem I can't overcome is my network card is not working. I went to bestbuy and bought the dynex enchanced wireless G card.

I installed wine to run the .exe but that did nothing and gave me that the dll is not registered. openSUSE detects that the card is plugged in but the card does not light up or activate in anyway. The only way I can connect to the net is through an Ethernet cable.

A wifi card with the ath5k driver used to work properly until a couple of weeks ago. Now, if I ping the router the response times sometimes are okay but often fluctuate into the range of many hundreds or thousands of milliseconds. Occasionally the connection breaks down entirely.My laptop, which uses a different card, works fine (typical ping response times of 2 ms), so its probably not the router which is faulty.I use opensuse 11.3 x86_64, currently with the 2.6.34.7-0.7 desktop kernel and knetworkmanager

I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

Also, I've been doing some research and found out about some file located /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules. So I looked in mine and found out that only my eth0 is added.

I have a Acer Revo R3610 nettop on which I installed oS11.3. It has an Atheros AR5001 wireless network adaptor.I'm getting very bad latency and throughput on with this card. In comparison my Thinkpad with Intel card achieves at least 10 times the throughput from the same location. Also when I boot my wifi will come up authenticate and then a few seconds later disconnect and reconnect. I've tried updating the kernel to 2.6.35 as one of the fixes was to improve the performance of the ath5k driver. I'm using wpa2 authentication.

I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

My wireless device is an integrated Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card, I am unsure about the driver I have in use. I am sure I have a driver installed because the configuration screen shows my network. I currently have the computer plugged into my network via CAT 5 but I would like to be able to use the wireless (obviously.) I am using Open SuSE version 11.2 and I have run the updater. I could not see my wireless network before running the updater and I can now so I know that the updates have helped but I am again stuck. I have tried to search the wireless forum and I have tried to tinker with the settings in YaST , but nothing seems to be working. I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.

I have a DELL Vostro 1500 and I have Debian Lenny running on it. I did get the wireless card BCM4312 working but after doing apt-get update followed by apt-get upgrade and after rebooting it stopped working. I am including the output from iwconfig, ifconfig and lsmod.

I've installed 10.04 on a Dell 1200 laptop and cannot get the wireless card working. I installed 10.10 on my 2nd laptop with the SAME internal wireless card as my other laptop, but Ubuntu all of a sudden acts like I have no wireless card? When I click on the network icon in the panel, Wireless Connections is enabled, but Ubuntu shows no available wireless networks? I can switch to my other laptop and it works fine.

I am running SLED 11 and My Networkcard is Intel PRO/Wireless 5300. In short, it is not there anymore! I mean I was connected and everything and the next time I restarted It could not detect any wireless network. I deleted the wireless network card in hopes that the OS will automatically detect it on startup and set it right but NOPE. When I check the hardware information in YAST, it is listed there and it is also working under Windows.

I have a Dell Vostro 1500 that has a Broadcom BCM4312 wireless card installed. I do not have access to a wired connection to the web so any thing I have to install is a download on my windows machine and then transfer that to the debian machine. I just finished installing Debian Squeeze but can not get my wireless card to scan for any networks. I found a tutorial at [URL] and followed the steps there. Finding all the dependances and installing them one by one (took me all day). My wireless card still will not scan for networks. After doing a 'sudo ifconfig eth1 up' it still will not scan for networks.

I just joined this forum in hope of fixing my linksys wireless card, here is my problem. I have a old Compaq presario 1710sb laptop with a p1 32mb ram and a 2GB hard drive. I installed a Debian Lenny command line only install, I installed ndiswrapper from a etch .deb file I found on the internet but I can't find out how to get it working. I tried how tos on other sites but they didn't work, I need to get that card working before I can install a GUI.

I am pretty new to Linux still. I have a desktop I'm trying to set up as a Linux machine. I'm apparently running a testing version of squeeze (I was running lenny I thought too many updates?). Anyway, I've been trying various things all night to try to get my wireless card to work. The system tells me I have a Broadcom BCM4318. When I run dmesg I get this:

Over and over. When I head to the website, it tells me to run b43-fwcutter. I've tried installing that and it says it installs fine but nothing ever changes. Everything I've found says that should work so I can't really find any suggestions for what to do if it doesn't.
