OpenSUSE Network :: Installing Wlan Drivers For Broadcom 4313

Aug 16, 2010

I'm trying to install the drivers for my Wlan card, I've downloaded the drivers in the tar.gz-file from Broadcom and untar-ed it in my /home/<username>/hybrid_wl-folder and cd'ed to it and I try to run "make" but I get an error: KBUILD_NOPEDANTIC=1 make -C /lib/modules/'uname -r' /build M='pwd' make: *** /lib/modules*2.6.31.5-0.1-default/build: No such file or directory. Stop make: *** [all] Error 2

I'm getting really desperate, I need my Wlan on Wednesday. I'm following the README but this is what I get.

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Get Broadcom 4313 Driver On Fresh 11.3?

Jul 19, 2010

From my lspci output I get Broadcom 4313 and 0x14e4:0x4727It appears that Broadcom supports this card with their Linux STA driverBroadcom.com - 802.11 Linux STA driver guess on that page mine is 4313 2.4 Ghz 0x14e40x4727 Dell 1501even though my notebook is Toshiba. Then they say that the driver is included with Fedora and Ubuntu but nothing about OpenSuse. Then they go on about compiling the driver myself. I'm pretty sure the modules required for compiling drivers are not available on a fresh install and without Internet connection. Is there an easier way to get the driver? Could someone knowledgeable make some .rpm that I can download on another machine and put on a USB stick? Or do I have to wait until Suse developers get to it?

Or could someone make wl.ko file they are talking about on Broadcome Readme? It looks fairly easy to install the driver, if I knew exactly what to disable/blacklist and what security module to load.Another thing I got from dmesg, not sure if it's of any help, was that for this card pci entry that goes like 07:00.0 there's "support D1 D2", then "#PME supported from D0 D3hot D3cold" then the next line "#PME disabled". I've searched this forum but the only time 4313 was mentioned when someone made a mistake with the model number

Debian Hardware :: Broadcom 4313 Wireless Not Working On 6.0.1a?

Jun 9, 2011

I just installed latest stable Debian (KDE) on my laptop, Dell Vostro 3400, which uses Broadcom 4313 (I think) wireless controller. I did install the proprietary driver package from Debian called breadcom-sta-common<version no>.deb. I remember it's the same driver I used for my previous Ubuntu installation. I also installed the KDE Network ManagerFront-End and the wireless tab on the manager is disabled (greyed out). I finally tried the steps from Debian Wiki Wireless section and at the end, when I run "modprobe wl", it says "FATAL: Module wl not found". Is there some more steps I need to do?

Ubuntu Networking :: Broadcom 4313 On HP Dm4 Not Finding Wireless Connection

Oct 18, 2010

My HP Pavilion dm4 notebook has the Broadcom bcm4313 and worked with the proprietary Broadcom driver provided with Ubuntu 10.04 but did not work with the corresponding driver provided with Ubuntu 10.10. The solution that worked for me (for a while) was to install "broadcom-sta-common" and its dependencies using Synaptic. After enabling the proprietary driver (System > Administration > Additional Drivers) and rebooting, wireless worked. I even shared this on this post. chargersfan420 get his Broadcom card functional again.

What changed to break it? Well, wireless had worked for several days, so I felt that I had solved the wireless problem. Now it was time to find a solution to unlock my BIOS settings. I successfully used PCCMOSCleaner to clear the password. After that, no more wireless. (Note to dm4 users: Apparently HP puts a password on the BIOS settings and makes it available only if you boot into the factory-installed Windows 7 and retrieve it. Of course I never booted into Windows 7 before upgrading the machine to Linux, deleting both the Windows partition and HP's hidden recovery partition.)

I uninstalled all the Broadcom stuff and reinstalled it all. Now I appear to have wl working, and b43 and ssb blacklisted, but network manager is not seeing any wireless connections available.

My Hardware: HP Pavilion dm4-1063cl My OS: Ubuntu 10.10 32-bit (clean install)

lspci reports this:

Code:
$ lspci -vvnn | grep 14e4

Ubuntu Networking :: Wifi Not Working Dell Inspiron N5010 And Broadcom 4313

Dec 24, 2010

ok basically i have a new dell inspiron n5010 with a broadcom 4313 wifi card. it doesnt work with ubuntu studio 10.10. I have the drivers all installed and it works on ethernet with the broadcom STA proprietry driver. if i disable this driver the eth doesnt work. but the driver shows its working (screenshot-1).

There is no pop up or anything in the task bar for detected wifi. i open the network settings and it shows up with a wifi option but i have to go into properties and manually type in what i have "the_den_meribel". which didn't work. (screenshot-2).

i have tried the other driver broadcom-sta-common and that doesnt make it work either. screenshot-3. i did try to install the "lp-pphhy" or whatever it is (seacrh for firmware-b43 in synaptic).

i have a list of results from what i have typed into the terminal: dell inspiron n5010

There is no wlan0 interface when trying to run FRITZ!WLAN USB Stick N 2.4 on OpenSuSE 11.2, though it works fine on Fedora 11 and Mandriva Spring 2009.1. All 64bit. My Belkin F5D9050 wireless(g+ MIMO) usb network card is recognised in yast but does not connect to the internet. On reading through forums I understand that this adaptor uses RAlinks RT73 chipset and support for should already be available in the OS. Is this correct ? If not, where do I get the driver for this and how do I install this. As per the Belkin site, Opensuse driver support isnt listed. Am struggling due to the unfamiliar environment and am not aware of terminal commands.

Red Hat :: No Static IP Possible With WLAN Adapter Broadcom

I have freshly installed RHEL 5.4 on a Dell Inspiron with WLAN adapter Broadcom 4318. The original driver bcm43xx did not work. So I installed ndiswrapper for using the windows driver. Now I can connect via DHCP, but when I try to assign a static IP address, it still uses the IP address provided by the router (AVM Fritzbox 7270). I always did ifdown/ifup and the static IP and everything else is present in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1. But ifconfig always shows the IP address assigned by the router. When I switch off the DHCP server of the router I can't connect to the network anymore. The LAN adapter Broadcom 4400 is working well with a static IP address.

According to the messages scanning fails

Router is avm Fritz!Box and is working fine with other notebooks and the lan of the Dell

I loaded down and installed the driver from Bradcom (hybrid-portsrc-x86_32-v5.10.91.9.3.tar.gz)

dmesg came up with a failure: not ipv6 server found - so I deactivated it

OpenSUSE Network :: Can't Get WLAN Up On Dell Mini 10v?

Jul 25, 2010

I can't get WLAN up on my Dell Mini 10v (BCM 4312)/openSUSE 11.3/LXDE. And yes, I have thoroughly read iwfingers's 'Getting your Wireless to Work'. After installing openSUSE 11.3 ifconfig can see eth0, l0 and wlan0. No WLAN running. dsmesq|grep firmware prompts me to '/usr/sbin/install_bcm43xx_firmware"

After having done that and reboot ifconfig can only see eth0 and l0. Installing broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-7.pm.16.4.i586.rpm broadcom-wl-kmp-default-5.60.48.36_k2.6.34.0_12-7.pm.16.4.i586.rpm (current ones from Packman) does, Shall I try to install the drivers without installing the firmware first?

Why does broadcom-wl-kmp-default-5.60.48.36_k2.6.34.0_12-7.pm.16.4.i586.rpm install a new default kernel? Ubuntu Netbook Remix 9.04 had no problems with WLAN.
