my wireless is not working on my lenovo. The problem is when i got to network manager and try to select enable wireless once i select it, it unselect it self after a second. i tried everythink i fond on the net already and also tried with support in irc channel but still nothing.

I just installed latest stable Debian (KDE) on my laptop, Dell Vostro 3400, which uses Broadcom 4313 (I think) wireless controller. I did install the proprietary driver package from Debian called breadcom-sta-common<version no>.deb. I remember it's the same driver I used for my previous Ubuntu installation. I also installed the KDE Network ManagerFront-End and the wireless tab on the manager is disabled (greyed out). I finally tried the steps from Debian Wiki Wireless section and at the end, when I run "modprobe wl", it says "FATAL: Module wl not found". Is there some more steps I need to do?
View 2 Replies View Relatedok basically i have a new dell inspiron n5010 with a broadcom 4313 wifi card. it doesnt work with ubuntu studio 10.10. I have the drivers all installed and it works on ethernet with the broadcom STA proprietry driver. if i disable this driver the eth doesnt work. but the driver shows its working (screenshot-1).
There is no pop up or anything in the task bar for detected wifi. i open the network settings and it shows up with a wifi option but i have to go into properties and manually type in what i have "the_den_meribel". which didn't work. (screenshot-2).
i have tried the other driver broadcom-sta-common and that doesnt make it work either. screenshot-3. i did try to install the "lp-pphhy" or whatever it is (seacrh for firmware-b43 in synaptic).

From my lspci output I get Broadcom 4313 and 0x14e4:0x4727It appears that Broadcom supports this card with their Linux STA driverBroadcom.com - 802.11 Linux STA driver guess on that page mine is 4313 2.4 Ghz 0x14e40x4727 Dell 1501even though my notebook is Toshiba.Then they say that the driver is included with Fedora and Ubuntu but nothing about OpenSuse. Then they go on about compiling the driver myself. I'm pretty sure the modules required for compiling drivers are not available on a fresh install and without Internet connection.Is there an easier way to get the driver? Could someone knowledgeable make some .rpm that I can download on another machine and put on a USB stick? Or do I have to wait until Suse developers get to it?
Or could someone make wl.ko file they are talking about on Broadcome Readme? It looks fairly easy to install the driver, if I knew exactly what to disable/blacklist and what security module to load.Another thing I got from dmesg, not sure if it's of any help, was that for this card pci entry that goes like 07:00.0 there's "support D1 D2", then "#PME supported from D0 D3hot D3cold" then the next line "#PME disabled". I'm getting really desperate, I need my Wlan on Wednesday. I'm following the README but this is what I get.
My HP Pavilion dm4 notebook has the Broadcom bcm4313 and worked with the proprietary Broadcom driver provided with Ubuntu 10.04 but did not work with the corresponding driver provided with Ubuntu 10.10. The solution that worked for me (for a while) was to install "broadcom-sta-common" and its dependencies using Synaptic. After enabling the proprietary driver (System > Administration > Additional Drivers) and rebooting, wireless worked. I even shared this on this post. chargersfan420 get his Broadcom card functional again.
What changed to break it? Well, wireless had worked for several days, so I felt that I had solved the wireless problem. Now it was time to find a solution to unlock my BIOS settings. I successfully used PCCMOSCleaner to clear the password. After that, no more wireless. (Note to dm4 users: Apparently HP puts a password on the BIOS settings and makes it available only if you boot into the factory-installed Windows 7 and retrieve it. Of course I never booted into Windows 7 before upgrading the machine to Linux, deleting both the Windows partition and HP's hidden recovery partition.)
I uninstalled all the Broadcom stuff and reinstalled it all. Now I appear to have wl working, and b43 and ssb blacklisted, but network manager is not seeing any wireless connections available.

there was a new kernel update that I installed today. I used some kl mod packages to work my broadcom. For some reason its not working after the kernel. Is there a way I can recompile the driver or so?

I have an HP Pavilion notebook with a Broadcom WLANcard that had been working very nicely in Fedora Core 10 until this evening, when I took my notebook to a conference room where there was no internet access. I have installed b43 with the install script and I can see all wireless networks fine, but NetworkManager just keeps asking me for the WPA passphrase, despite it being correct. I tried disabling WPA on the router, but then the connection hangs at "Configuring interface" instad. I also tried with ifup, but I'm not sure I configured everything correctly. I don't get any smarter from the NetworkManager logs, maybe someone else can decipher them? tail -50 when connection doesn't work:

I just deleted my windows XP and installed Ubuntu 9.10 earlier this morning. I used wired connection to get drivers for my wireless network card.
When I did lspci, the very last line states:
Network Controller: Broadcom Coporation BCM4311 902.11b/g WLAN(rev 01)
I used the System -> Administration -> Hardware Driver and found 2 drivers. I have tried them both to connect to my D-Link Router. Neither of which worked.
For Broadcom B43 Driver, the wireless is able to detect wireless networks. However, it fails to establish connection.
For Broadcom STA Driver, the wireless cannot even detect wireless networks available.
What is the issue here and how do I resolve it so that I am able to connect onto the internet wirelessly?
I'm having a bit of trouble getting the wireless to work on a Dell Inspiron 9200. Following the instructions here didn't help, though I didn't get any errors along the way. Scanning for networks produced 'No scan results,' though. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04.1.

I have a broadcom 4322 and haven't successfully got it working yet. the hard drive failed in this laptop and i took it out. i am using a bootable flash drive with ubuntu on it installed. not the live edition. i am trying to find out if somehow since the hard drive is not in the laptop, if that could have anything to do with runnin off the usb flash drive it boots? i have a wired connection using the 8gb flash drive. since there are drivers for usb wifi devices which i know are different, is it possible that the wifi card is looking somewhere else instead of the usb port?

I am running kde ubuntu 10 on a gateway laptop with a Broadcom bcm series wireless network card. network manager 7.0 is installed. the broadcom STA wireless driver is also installed. Network manager sees the network and I can select the network and it shows as active yet I have no connection. The wired connection works fine.

But still, the network card is not there. When I call ifconfig, there is only "lo" and no "eth". In Yast it says that the Netlink BCM57788 card cannot be configured because the firmware is missing. I also already did modprobe tg3 and rmmod tg3.
BTW, I have installed OpenSuse 11.2 x32 which is Linux 2.6.31.5.
I'm trying to help a friend with his Acer Aspire 5003 WLMi computer, and if you guys can't help me get this to work, I have to resort to reinstalling Windows XP on his computer.
I've tried with f34cutter and the Windows driver with ndiswrapper, and both ways should work (many others seems to have got it working), but I haven't.
I can't keep up with this much longer (he wants to have his laptop back someday), and I will post the relevant info as soon as you need it.
Recently I moved from Intrepid Ibex to Lucid Lynx and everything went fine during and post installation except wireless B4311. I tried to install the specific driver from System-> Administration-> Hardware Drivers but it comes out with an error logged in file jockey.log
