View 7 RepliesThis is the command line switch I am using:
Code: Select allwget -p -k -e robots=off -U 'Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070802 SeaMonkey/1.1.4' -r www.website.com
For some reason it seems to be downloading too much and taking forever for a small website. It seems that it was following alot of the external links that page linked to.
But when I tried:
Code: Select allwget -E -H -k -K -p www.website.com
It downloaded too little. How much depth I should use with -r? I just want to download a bunch of recipes for offline viewing while staying at a Greek mountain village. Also I don't want to be a prick and keep experimenting on people's webpages.
i want to know how to view tamil websites in redhat linux EL5.pls assist to know the detail.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI installed Fedora 11 I386 DVD. I use firefox. Usually, I will go through some websites in Chinese. The Chinese characters can be recognized and displayed. However, there are several font sizes and font types in the same line. Usually, the last character is much smaller than others.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am considering creating a new website with a number of relative links. By this, I mean something similar to a wiki where inside a given page are links to other terms/ideas on other pages (in the same site). In reality, what I plan to link to/from are various articles which are inter-related but not entirely encyclopedic in nature (as many wikis such as wikipedia tend to be).
I am looking for two applications which I can use offline (I think--if you think I need something else, open to all ideas):
An offline application that is *very* simple at allowing me to create content articles as described above and to preview that the relative links work (if need be through a browser or some sort of preview) such that once I put them online I will have little/no necessary clean-up to ensure relative links still work. My articles will have both images and text and I also want to be able to relatively easily move the images around where I want them without having to mess around with HTML directly too much. The more WYSIWIG/visual, the better.
While I'm at it, any recommendations of how to easily get this content online? Also, can I worry about the template (CSS or whatever) later or do I need to do that right from the start? (Sorry, haven't done this stuff in about 3 or 4 years and my memory is lacking.)I use Ubuntu 10.04 and am trying to avoid KDE at the moment.
the problem i am experiencing on my laptop (hp pavillion zv5000) which runs ubuntustudio 9.10 (this problem also occurred with ubuntu 9.10, before i upgraded to ubuntu studio) is that whenever i view a video on firefox, be it videos, metacafe, and generally any site where you can see online videos, the video glitches a lot, and after a few seconds firefox grays out, and is not responsive, which means i either have to kill firefox.i am running firefox 3.5.7 with the ubuntu firefox modifications 0.8 pack added. in the preferences, on the content tab the enable java button is not ticked. the following is the list of plugins i have on firefox:

I have several SLES 11sp1 servers and using SMT (Subscription Management Tool) to provide local mirroring and prevent all the unnecessary web traffic to update all these machines.
I found this article which is working out quite nicely to mirror the openSUSE 11.3 Updates which prevents all my openSUSE 11.3 machines from all going out getting the same update.
Code:

I am looking to try and do the same with openSUSE 11.4 and with openSUSE 11.4 using the Tumbleweed repos. Has anyone done this or can someone provide some insight on what I need to do. I am thinking I can run this command
Code:
smt-setup-custom-repos --name OpenSUSE_114_Updates --description "OpenSUSE 11.4 Updates" --exturl http://download.opensuse.org/update/11.4/ --productid *don't know what productid
I should use* to provide me with openSUSE 11.4 Updates. For the Tumbleweed repo would I do the same and would that work?
Code:
smt-setup-custom-repos --name OpenSUSE_Tumbleweed --description "OpenSUSE Tumbleweed" --exturl http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/openSUSE:/Tumbleweed/standard/ --productid *don't know what productid I should use*
Again I don't know what productid I should use or if it really even matters, could I use one that is not being used? I am trying to limit how many machines go out to the Internet to pull down updates. I would really like to have one system (SMT) pulll down any new files and all my clients get their updates from the SMT server.
in the direction of a HOWTO (cant find one via Search or Google)hat tells me how to install dm_mirror to enable a boot of an 11.3 system that uses LVM for root and swap? I really would likecommands rather than using the GUI as it will help me understand what is going on in the background

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have recently updated from Opensuse 11.2 to 11.3 . I am now having problems with viewing or opening more than one PDF file at a time. If I have a PDF file open, when I open a second one. I get a page with nothing on it. When I close the first PDF file, an I try to open the second one, it opens with no problems. I am not quite sure what is causing it. By the way this happens when I try to view files from a browser for example from sciencedirect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to open a terminal when viewing a folder and the terminal would automatically be in that directory so all I would have to do is type the command. Now, it doesn't seem to work like that. No matter what folder I'm viewing within Konquerer or Dolphin, the terminal is always at the /home folder no matter what. Can I change this behavior and set it to the way it used to work on my old system? (SuSE 10.0)

Now i left click on an image and ok, it appears properly, but then I move to the next image. First I have to navigate back and then click onto the next image, which is quite inconvenient.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was chatting with my 83+ year old mother last night on the phone about her computer. She boots about 50-50 between winXP and openSUSE-11.1. She was complaining about some Windoze problem that neither my wife nor I could remotely fix (with us living a continent away) and she noted she would not boot to winXP if it were not for the fact she can play back (from her Hot Mail account) power point presentations MUCH easier under winXP than she can under Linux. Hence she often boots to winXP because she can handle those files easier under winXP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedLook I have just installed suse 11.2 KDE at 32 bit. Now I need to get all the drivers and codecs to work properly. So I can download using yast and a bunch of repository urls. If Im wrong please correct me. My internet connection is one of those 3g HSDPA connections so I usually connect a usb modem to my computer (Huawei e220). I've googled around and from my understanding, I need to download an application called kinternet. However kinternet has naturally got dependencies and those dependencies also have dependencies and so on... I'm assuming this tree is pretty massive given the fact that I installed via live CD, the question thatbeckons is how do I download kinternet along with all known dependencies...wait for it.... in WINDOWS??? is it possible or do I have to hunt down every single dependency?? the idea is to get these rpms install them manually on my PC in order to get my modem working on the freshly installed system and perform any future updating using yast on that system with my 3g modem.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a couple of nfs shares which I configured through the yast NFS client module. It entered these in my fstab file to start on bootup. A sample entry is:
10.2.1.30:/home/opt/Cindy/homenfsdefaults 0 0
As long as the foreign computer is online all is well. If the foreign computer is taken off line, soon after KDE applications such as Dolphin and the panel freeze, even if I am not using the shares. When the foreign computer comes online again, everything unfreezes on my computer and works fine. Likewise, if the other computer is not online when I boot, there is a long delay while the system waits for the share to come up. Is there something in my configuration that I can change to stop either or both of these problems? I am running 11.4 x86_64 on a wired network with static ip addresses.
is there a way to get urls of the packages that have been updated and then download them in another computer? like this feature of ubuntu HOWTO: Download package dependencies for offline installation - Ubuntu Forums
its a simple feature and its present in smart and synaptic, yet its not in yast (or i havent found it yet.
i would use smart package manager but in my home connection for checking for updates ,yast is better ( smart downloads filelist.xml.gz that is very way biger than what yast downloads (though it enables smart to show filelist of package BEFORE installing) .so at home i can check for package update with yast ,buy downloading them is very hard. (my connectioon is very bad (i live in iran) and yast mirrors are NOT the best of servers ,so yast gets interrupted in middle downloading a rpm and the whole process is waiting for me to press retry ,so i cant do updates and installs overnight.btw is there some way to tell it to retry always or a number of times automatically? )
i need the url links of rpms so i download them separately and install them.
i installed smeegol out of curiosity. and i am planning on keeping it installed as a alternative desktop. so "get rid of smeegol" is not an acceptable answer to my question. my question is also not so much about how can i turn this behaviour off but i wanna understand whats going on. here it is:when i log out of kde and start smeegol i am in offline mode per default. now thats unconfortable but i can live with it. what is however very weired and this is what the question is all about: when i leave smeegol with
init 3
init 5
and i start kde again my network manager doesnt start properly. i tried switching to traditional and switching back. still not working i tried killing the processes and restarting them still not working. i tried restarting my hole pc (i know stupid but it was a desperate move) still not working i tried a dozen other things that are even more desperate the only thing that got my network working again was starting smeegol again and switching to online mode
then ctrl + alt + backspace
and back into kde
suddenly i am online again
this is confusing how can smeegol my network manager up that hard that even a restart wont get it connected.
My suse 11.2 has auto login. How to change to login password to keep the kids off my computer, and offline.
