what is your favorit application for viewing dvd cds? I have one remote control that is supported from linux.. and it will be great if the play pause button are recognized by the application.

My main PC isn't playing nice with my ipod, and of all the music software out there, I enjoy songbird the most.I dig its clean lines and iTunes-esque file management. Now of course comes the question.I connected my ipod to my computer, and it doesn't show up on Songbird. There's no add-on for ipod device support either. What gives? Is there anyway to combine my favorite MP3 player and my favorite multimedia software into one delicious sushi roll?

Most preferably searching through the full contents, but a search on file name only would also do. When a document is found, it should be able to download it from the server, or view it on-line.

More specifically, is it possible to play, e.g., .wmv files with 64-bit Kaffeine (my favorite player) or any other 64-bit video player? If so, then which combination of player and codec should I use?
I have recently updated from Opensuse 11.2 to 11.3 . I am now having problems with viewing or opening more than one PDF file at a time. If I have a PDF file open, when I open a second one. I get a page with nothing on it. When I close the first PDF file, an I try to open the second one, it opens with no problems. I am not quite sure what is causing it. By the way this happens when I try to view files from a browser for example from sciencedirect.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used to be able to open a terminal when viewing a folder and the terminal would automatically be in that directory so all I would have to do is type the command. Now, it doesn't seem to work like that. No matter what folder I'm viewing within Konquerer or Dolphin, the terminal is always at the /home folder no matter what. Can I change this behavior and set it to the way it used to work on my old system? (SuSE 10.0)

View 9 Replies View RelatedI use OpenSUSE 11.3+KDE and I set Konqueror as my file manager, since I got used to it for some years.My problem is that I cannot use the embedded image viewing feature of Konqueror as I could previously (KDE 3.5). Now i left click on an image and ok, it appears properly, but then I move to the next image. First I have to navigate back and then click onto the next image, which is quite inconvenient.

I was chatting with my 83+ year old mother last night on the phone about her computer. She boots about 50-50 between winXP and openSUSE-11.1. She was complaining about some Windoze problem that neither my wife nor I could remotely fix (with us living a continent away) and she noted she would not boot to winXP if it were not for the fact she can play back (from her Hot Mail account) power point presentations MUCH easier under winXP than she can under Linux. Hence she often boots to winXP because she can handle those files easier under winXP.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've recently installed Slackware 13.1 and want do some work with a MySQL database. I've used SQL Navigator at work for a few years and want something similar for home. Maybe I've become spoiled but a good SQL editor is just as useful as a good IDE in my opinion.I tried to install MySQL workbench but there are some dependencies on GNOME that got in the way. I tried SQuirreL because it's written in java but wasn't too impressed, and couldn't get it to stop auto-committing (that could really cause a bad situation). RazorSQL looks nice but I don't want to anty up for the $70 license fee.
What are your favorite SQL editors for use on Slackware, and how do you use them?Also, if there is anyone who has successfully installed MySQL workbench on Slackware 13.1.

One thing that really bothers me about Slackware is the lack of unified, well maintained, and up-to-date documentation, but what keeps me coming back is the outstanding community. I see a lot of community contributions floating around on these forums, but they often get buried in all the questions and other posts people create. I know there's a search feature, but sometimes it's fun to browse an organized list of the community's work and see if I find anything fun or interesting.
Back when I used Arch Linux, one of my favorite stops at the forums was the Community Contributions section. The FreeBSD forums also have a section for user-contributed HOWTOse should have a section like this. Call it "Contributions" and place it by the "Installation" section at the top of this forum. It would provide a great place for users to check out what the other slackers have come up with without making a thread of their own to ask (which will probably result in many duplicate threads) or digging up an ancient thread.The only new threads allowed there could be a HOWTO, a new process or method a user discovered, or a user-made script/program/etc. Of course, other users should be able to comment with their replies for suggestions and/or improvements.
