View 2 RepliesEverytime I open Konqueror, it opens in "Embedded Text Editor" mode . So if I open it then click on a bookmark, it opens in edit mode. I can select View->View Mode->khtml and then the page displays properly. If I click on a link from that page, it displays properly. If I open a new tab, it is back to edit mode. If I open konqueror from konsole, it has the same behavior. I have removed all files under ~/.kde that mention konqueror, kong_* or kfmclient.
I checked the menu entry for Konqueror, and it is "kfmclient openProfile web browsing". I have set the view mode properly, then manually saved the profile in Konqueror. I have checked the system settings file associations, and the konqueror entry has the same application command (kfmclient) as the kde menu entry. Does anyone know how to make the view mode "stick" for Konqueror such that when clicking on html urls or selecting bookmarks causes Konqueror to display properly?
F12 x86_64, latest updates (4.3.4-1).
I double click "My Computer" and Konqueror goes to sysinfo:/I then try to click on one of my partitions (ones that are already mounted or ones that are not)eeted with the error; There is no application installed that can open files of the type block device inode/blockdevice).Do you want to try to install one?It goes through the repo and finds nothing.I love openSUSE and this one error is the only thing keeping me from being able to use this release.

I have opensuse 11.2 with KDE installed. Howto set Konqueror as default file manager?
View 5 Replies View Relatedmy linux pc is connected to a lcd monitor with native resolution 1280x1024.The font at the textconsoles is too small for me.
I changed the entry "vga=..."in the file /boot/grub/menu.lst to "vga=0x0314".During the first few seconds the screen-resolution matches the setting of the vga-mode, but after then the vga-mode automatically switches to 1280x1024 (only at the textconsoles). The x-server is configured to 800x600 which is the resolution I want.I also tried vga=normal and vga=788. In older suse-version 10 and lower never had this problem.
How can I change my system's default character encoding? I need to change it to ISO-8859-1 for compatibility reasons, but I can't find an option for this...
View 9 Replies View RelatedOn my newly upgraded opensuse 11.4 with GNOME,was trying to change my default mail client. I go into Preferred Applications and under email, all it lists is Evolution. I would like to change it to my Groupwise client. Googling the problem, I found that I should be able to enter a custom command there for a new entry but there is no custom option. So I googled that problem and found that it's a bug in Gnome. I found a few ideas for workarounds but I could never get any to work

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have openSuse 11.2 along with Windows, I get an option on boot to choose between the two OS, but the default is suse. How can I change the default load to Windows
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm dual-booting Windows 7 and Suse 11.3, installing suse second on a seperate 80GB drive. After a ridiculous amount of faffing around due to my dvd writer essentially not working, finally get suse installed, messing with GRUB settings in an attempt to preserve Windows' boot manager, restart; GRUB error 22.
Go through the whole process again, this time accepting the use of grub and not changing anything from default - exactly the same response. None of the tens of boot disks/utilities I've tried will allow me into suse to have a look at the grub config. There are no applications for windows that will allow me to write to ext3.
I have installed 11.2 with English as default language. During the installation, I tried to change the default keyboard mapping to Spanish, but right now, when the system boots it uses an English mapping. I've seen there is an option to change that on the grub menu and I would like it to default to Spanish. Is it possible? I haven't found much info on the web, but my guess is that changing the DEFAULT_APPEND in /etc/sysconfig/bootloader with an unknown-keyboard-related option will solve it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedSomehow i managed to change my file browser to Konqueror from whatever the default is ( i haven't managed to find the name). Now when I open my home folder it opens with Konqueror.
Interestingly enough if I open the computer that opens up simply in file browser. Does anyone know how to change back to the default as I prefer the look of it to Konqueror.
I have a fileserver running openSUSE 11.2 and samba services for file access from MS Windows based workstations. My question relates to changing default permissions on files and directories created from the windows clients.
Following are extracts of the /etc/samba/smb.conf file :
Even with the above entries, sometimes there are files and directories created by the windows clients having permission
Probably my lack of understanding in ACLS.
I was using ubuntu 10.04 till yesterday.. and due to hdd crash i have changed my hdd.
while looking for my installation disc, my wall-mate gives me this Ubuntu Studio dvd and instead of downloading a new one, i have installed the studio. at the first sight ... i am being a fond of studio version .. its really cool.
now, i am quite habituated with default appearance of ubuntu, i found studio appearance is quite unusual (for me, menu layouts, panel everything).
I would like to know how do i change this default appearance like ubuntu default 10.04 appearance. I am attaching a screen-shoot of my friends desktop, he upgraded his ubuntu thru apptitude update.
I have just upgraded to 11.3 and work in icewm (I have kde apps installed but no other desktops). When I boot up the computer it gives me this console error message:
Code:
kernel: [time] sisfb: Mode 'none' not supported anymore. Using default.
kernel: [time] sisfb: Fatal error: Unable to reserve 16MB framebuffer memory
kernel: [time] sisfb: Is there another framebuffer driver active?
Apart from that I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. The computer isn't displaying immediate symptoms to me. I checked the hardware sticky and when I have a few hours I can work through
HTML Code:
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Configuring_graphics_cards but I don't have that kind of time at the moment, so I wanted to check that that was the route I should be going down before I did. I googled this stuff but everything seems to start from a knowledge base above mine and leaves me clueless.
I have this problem that is every time I'm watching something in Full screen and try to lower or raise the volume using the volume scroll on the laptop (Toshiba Satellite if it matters) it minimizes the view. I'm using Fedora 12

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know this sounds like a poorly asked question, but I was asked if our Linux systems are running in "FIPS mode". This document [url] says
Approved Mode
The FIPS 1402 Approved Mode of Operation is the operation of the FIPS object module when all requirements of the Security Policy have been met and the software has successfully performed the powerup and self test operation (invocation of the FIPS_mode_set() function call). In this document this Approved Mode is referred to simply as FIPS mode.
Is this the default for OS 11.4? The only place I know that OpenSSL is being used on our systems is with OpenSSH.
just installed dwm i'm getting border gaps while in monocle view and tiling mode.i set border to 0 in my config.h file which fixed the problem, but after rebooting/suspend? the problem appeared again.
heres a pic: ok so maybe it was a bad idea to use black, but you can see part of the wallpaper on the bottom (the blue/purple line).
To force myself to use CLI all the time, I've installed Ubuntu Server edition on my work laptop. However, I still want to be able to view PDF ( rendered as normal PDF, not converted to text ). Basically I want a totally CLI environment, except for PDF viewer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedSo I've been trying to get my windows C: and D: partitions (mounted to /windows/C and /windows/D respectively) to show along side "Filesystem" and "Home Folder" in tree view on the left panel in Nautilus.
I know I can drag and drop any folder under the Places view mode, but I never use Places and prefer Tree view mode.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI like view file listings in Nautilus in the List View. By default the "Location" column is not visible and I have to set it to visible through "View -> Visible Columns" each time. Is there anyway to make the change permanent?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSome people love icons, but not me. I prefer the file list view. I have stumbled around Ubuntu 10.10 trying to find where to set this preference, but have had no success so far. In windows, you would set the preferred view and then apply to all folders. Ubuntu does not follow this paradigm, and indeed, why should it? I have searched the preferences in Ubuntu, and did a global search f this site for related topics. I know you have to be able to do this, I just don't know how. This is the type of topic I will probably kick myself for when someone shows me how easy it is to do. If you don't know how to do it though, it is still black magic.

Just updated to 4.3.5 from the stable repository, now I cant open Konqueror, I get Dolphinpart and fsviewpart errors.
"An error occurred when loading View module of Dolphin. Complement dolphinpart uses a library from KDE which is incompatible"
Rough translation of the error message, same from fsview.
