I am running OpenSuse 11.1 with KDE 4.3.1 updated. If I am open a terminal and type in
kfmclient openURL $HOME; my konqueror does not open in normal explorer like mode instead it's open the FSview (FileSizeView) mode. Where can I change this behavior?
Konqueror opens in full screen every time which is more a nuance than an issue, I just haven't had time to search why; I'm seeing if anyone else has this issue or knows the preset to change how K. starts up. I don't use Konqueror enough. I can right click to take it off full screen mode, but for who ever else who uses it, it can be a nuance.
I also have this same issue with Thunderbird, but I can't get it out of full screen mode there is no menu bar up top to reduce, minimize or close out.
Is there a way to set up KDE4 Konqueror so that middle click opens a file like in KDE3? In KDE3 Konqueror, middle clicking on a particular file would have the same effect as double clicking on it.
Everytime I open Konqueror, it opens in "Embedded Text Editor" mode . So if I open it then click on a bookmark, it opens in edit mode. I can select View->View Mode->khtml and then the page displays properly. If I click on a link from that page, it displays properly. If I open a new tab, it is back to edit mode. If I open konqueror from konsole, it has the same behavior. I have removed all files under ~/.kde that mention konqueror, kong_* or kfmclient.
I checked the menu entry for Konqueror, and it is "kfmclient openProfile web browsing". I have set the view mode properly, then manually saved the profile in Konqueror. I have checked the system settings file associations, and the konqueror entry has the same application command (kfmclient) as the kde menu entry. Does anyone know how to make the view mode "stick" for Konqueror such that when clicking on html urls or selecting bookmarks causes Konqueror to display properly?
I create a link to a file in order to open the file from the desktop. When I move the link from the file location to the desktop, the file is opended in read-only mode. How can I change this so that the file opens in regular mode so that I am able to edit contents? The file in question is an open office spreadsheet.
Just updated to 4.3.5 from the stable repository, now I cant open Konqueror, I get Dolphinpart and fsviewpart errors. "An error occurred when loading View module of Dolphin. Complement dolphinpart uses a library from KDE which is incompatible" Rough translation of the error message, same from fsview.
I sometimes use webkit in Konqueror to view certain sites, but lately I haven't been able to since Konqueror crash everytime I activate webkit. I searched for this issue on the web and found among others this:[URL].. I downgraded Flash to 10.0.45xxx and it seems like Konqueror runs fine with webkit now. However I now got this message browsing Hattrick.org:
icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. This error only occur when using webkit, not with KHTML.
I have the following problem with konqueror. Eveytime when I am trying to enter https://localhost:10000 (this is webmin) or https://localhost:631, konqueror asks me in a popup the following (translated from german):
"The authentification of the server has failed. The certificate does not suite to the server. The certificate has not been signed by a trustable authentification authority"
Then I press "continue". Then the next popup appears asking me: "Do you want to always accept this certificate without any request" And the possible buttons are "always" or "only this session". The problem is that I always press on "always" but obviously konqueror is not remembering this certificate since I have to press all the buttons a hundred times in the ongoing session and every new session. In firefox, I was only asked once and the certificate was stored in list. Does anyone know how to fix this problem in konqueror??
Has anyone had any joy with the above combination? I had the current beta and the square flash versions working fine but when I changed the konqueror engine to webkit I can't get ..... to work.
I can use Konqueror to browse my filesystem but not the web. One of two things happens: 1) Either it just crashes, or 2) it displays an "Operation could not be completed" error page. The former occurs if I type something into the address bar that may require some guesswork, like yahoo.com, and in this case I may get a chance to restart the session. The latter occurs if I type a complete url like [URL]... or if I type a term in the google search box. It suggests disabling the firewall; I have, to no avail. Same thing happens with rekonq but not with epiphany or firefox or chrome. I use openSUSE 11.4 with KDE 4.7. This problem occurred after upgrading to 4.7 - not sure if it was immediate upon upgrade - but before recent issues with the R47 repo. Of course, hoping to fix Konqueror, I updated all of my R47 packages and got caught up in the black screen problem, but now that's resolved and Konqueror still crashes.
I like Chrome but want Konqueror as a backup, no need to install other browsers as long as it works, but I suppose that's the alternative. Downgrading Konqueror would downgrade its library and dolphin as well; I'd rather avoid that, as I had a weird issue with my mouse getting "trapped" in an app in 4.6 - I could still work inside that app, but clicks did not register in other apps or plasma generally, such as the start menu or the "x" button to close the app in question on its own window decoration. This issue has not recurred in 4.7, so I'd rather keep the version than keep Konqueror if it comes to that.
I've grown accustomed to using konqueror, and i like it's speed. Firefox on kde is slightly sluggish and consumes much more memory. If i type a website address in konqueror, for example, Google, it comes up with an error message. It expects me to put in Google. Is there any way to make this default in konqueror? For example, in firefox i just type in google or Google.
I have a strange effect here, where konqueror is started multiple times. It is no problem to start it from the K-Menu. But konqueror seems to be associated with different actions in applications, e.g. many "help" entries; among others e.g. Inkscape: "Hilfe/Inkscape Handbuch" (~ Help/Inkscape handbook") If I'm unfortunate enough to hit such an item, the konqueror items start flooding my task bar, while the mouse cursor - changed to the konqueror icon - is flickering like wild, while konqueror is starting again and again. None of the windows really open and all icons disappear after some time. (due to some resource overflow, but unfortunately I can't find the relevant log entry this time) How can I prevent this ? (Or debug this, if the cause is unclear)
In Konqueror, when browsing files the display would open in the "Advanced Embedded Text Editor" which was really handy. In Dolphin it opens in Kate (KWrite by default but I changed it.) Is there a way to make Dolphin behave like Konqueror?
I'm using opensuse 11.4 64 bits on an amd 3 kernel. One day it's working fine and the following i't works all fine except konqueror and dolphin. When i try to open them it seem to be frozen (the application, not the system), but in the end they open after 3-4 minutes. Then they work well, but if i close them and open again, or if i open another window I have the same problem. Othe applications (for example firefox) launch quickly.
I have developed an audio problem; although continue to get sound with kaffeine and aamrok, firefox recently quit playing sound; no software updates were performed, it just quit. It has always been buggy, like audio would cut out if another program tried to play a sound and firefox and/or aamrok would have to be restarted. this is different though, it's nothing to do with a conflict it just doesn't work. It won't play sound from flash videos from the internet or locally but I can see the vids, and it won't play mp3's (these both will play fine with aamrok or kaffeine). It worked fine until all of a sudden, Also, konqueror is exhibiting the same behavior as firefox, and it too used to play sound just fine.
I have already used yast to update anything to do with "codec" "xine" "flash" and "firefox"
I double click "My Computer" and Konqueror goes to sysinfo:/I then try to click on one of my partitions (ones that are already mounted or ones that are not)eeted with the error; There is no application installed that can open files of the type block device inode/blockdevice).Do you want to try to install one?It goes through the repo and finds nothing.I love openSUSE and this one error is the only thing keeping me from being able to use this release.
Since I upgraded to 11.3 I don't see that the View > Preview mode is broken. Image icons are created, but they all look like the icons in the picture below. When I move the zoom slider the largest sized icons come out fine. Anyone an idea how to solve this problem? Is there any repository that I can use to get more recent versions that should have fixed these bugs? I just noticed that PNG images come out right, so it could be something related to JPG files.
I use OpenSUSE 11.3+KDE and I set Konqueror as my file manager, since I got used to it for some years. My problem is that I cannot use the embedded image viewing feature of Konqueror as I could previously (KDE 3.5). Now i left click on an image and ok, it appears properly, but then I move to the next image. First I have to navigate back and then click onto the next image, which is quite inconvenient.
i recently updated a machine from 4.5 to 4.6 Factory and the Embedded Text Editor function for editing text files inside Konqueror seems to be broken (viewing file is fine, but no editing). Doing research i found that it had been reported, but ignored as an "opensuse problem": Bug 259338 - I cannot edit text files when I preview them in konqueror by using "Embedded Advanced Text Editor" which is not a case in 4.5 seems like i remember that it was a kate plugin or katepart functionality, but others would know more.it was apparently reported in the RC days and disregarded, perhaps someone has more info about it?it doesn't seem to be a config file problem since a new user is in the same boat.for me it is oft-used and would be sorely missed.
I installed the adobe flash player 11 beta 1 64 bits from here. Download Adobe Flash Player 11 Beta for Desktops - Adobe Labs. It seems to work well with firefox 5, but under konqueror (4.6.5 / openSUSE 11.4) I have many random nspluginviewer crashes with a Application: nspluginviewer (nspluginviewer), signal: Segmentation fault message when a page contains a flash object. This did not happen with previous versions of the plugin. Reloading the page with F5 is usually enough and everything seems to work without problems. ntil I load another page and then have another crash. In fact, the crash mostly happens when loading the page, not when the flash object is already loaded.
I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to access their Gmail files via IMAP on Konqueror? There is supposed to be an imap:// kio slave, but I can't get it to login to my Gmail. I tried imap://username@gmail.com but no luck. I also tried [URL].. since I think the username has to include the @gmail.com part. But still no access.
I'm using openSUSE 11.2/KDE 4.4 and Konqueror is behaving strangely lately. That is, when I click an entry in RSS Now widget, Konqueror opens, but instead of going to the web, it displays the cached version of the page (i.e. from /var/tmp/kdecache-[username]/krun/...).Initially I thought it is related to the widget (RSS Now), but the same thing happened when Konqueror was called by another program (Google Desktop > preferences): it opened the cached version of the page instead of what I've expected (localhost on some port). As I see these things, it seems there is a setting making Konqueror/KDE to preload some pages (I guess it's related to a KDE service). The problem is it subsequently displays the cache, not the online version.
Whenever I set some font settings in these two web browsers, and apply them; they revert back to other fonts. The reason for this behavior is not known to me. How to set the required fonts and not allow these two browsers to change them on their own.
I played with the graphics in kde4 and seem to have losy my installation. i have tried the rescue system option, recover system options and in desperation (i was just about to reinstall) tried booting in failsafe mode, and it worked!
where do i go to find out what the problem is regarding the normal boot mode? i think my pc is starting to resent the continual use of the reset button!
