View 5 RepliesSomehow i managed to change my file browser to Konqueror from whatever the default is ( i haven't managed to find the name). Now when I open my home folder it opens with Konqueror.
Interestingly enough if I open the computer that opens up simply in file browser. Does anyone know how to change back to the default as I prefer the look of it to Konqueror.
Is there a way to change the default to Detailed List View?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to set krusader as my default file manager. I have gone into System Settings > Default Applications > File Manager and changed Dolphin to Krusader.
When I plug in a flash card the Device Notifier pops up and I click on the device inserted. The choices I get are Digikam, Dolphin, and Do Nothing.
I click on "Dolphin" (hard coded it appears) and it looks like Krusader tries to start. I get the cursor with the bouncing krusader mini-icon and an entry in the panel, but then nothing happens. It all goes away and I'm left with a blank screen (wallpaper, actually).
I've chosen Krusader from the menu, so presumably the arguments to it are good. I have KDE 4.3.3 and krusader 2.0.0.
I'm having Fedora 12 distro. I read there is convenient program to manage file system called Nautilus or Konqueror. But I don't understand how to run at least one of them. It is written I must click "Run" in the main menu but no word where to find this main menu.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have tried to make my own buntu running LXDE as the desktop environment though it is running smoothly on an old laptop it has a certain problem.
I have installed PCMan File Manager as the default file manager for the LXDE and not Thunar or Dolphin, but, I have a problem with opening files from there. The default application set to open all file types is the Terminal.
What I currently do to open the file is right click and choose "Open with.." to open the file in the appropriate application. Is there a way to set the default applications?
I have Ubuntu 9.10 from minimal CD install then got LXDE and installed the following applications aside from the applications that came with LXDE:

Is there a GUI that will allow me to set a default file manager for Xubuntu? I would like to use the Nautilus File manager. Right now I access Nautilus from a launcher I have on my Panel. I would like to have the ability to switch file managers, set defaults etc...
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I change the default file manager in GNOME? I've got these notes but neither methods work:
GUI
Change under 'Session control' in 'Ubuntu Tweak'
Delete nautilus and type in pcmanfm or another file manager such as thunar
Apply
Quit ubuntu-tweak
Reboot
TERMINAL:
Code:
gksu gedit /usr/share/applications/nautilus-folder-*handler.desktop
Then replace 'nautilus --no-desktop %U' to whatever you like. Example: pcmanfm %U
Save, logout & login
Update: This works. Why does the Ubuntu Tweak method not work though?
Code:
sudo gedit /usr/share/applications/nautilus-folder-*handler.desktop
I have installed dolphin in ubuntu 9.04 but whenever I click on a folder it opens with nautilus file-manager. I found no option in the folder properties for making dolphin the default file-manager !
View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently decided to install xfce-desktop as a fallback alternative whenever Gnome 3 has problems. Now I have the Thunar file manager opening up by default even when logged into Gnome (for example when using Alt-F2 and typing in a folder name, or when plugging in an iPod.) I've searched around for days but can't find any place to set a default file manager. The Default Applications dialogue doesn't include file manager, only web browser, video etc.)

View 12 Replies View RelatedEverytime I open Konqueror, it opens in "Embedded Text Editor" mode . So if I open it then click on a bookmark, it opens in edit mode. I can select View->View Mode->khtml and then the page displays properly. If I click on a link from that page, it displays properly. If I open a new tab, it is back to edit mode. If I open konqueror from konsole, it has the same behavior. I have removed all files under ~/.kde that mention konqueror, kong_* or kfmclient.
I checked the menu entry for Konqueror, and it is "kfmclient openProfile web browsing". I have set the view mode properly, then manually saved the profile in Konqueror. I have checked the system settings file associations, and the konqueror entry has the same application command (kfmclient) as the kde menu entry. Does anyone know how to make the view mode "stick" for Konqueror such that when clicking on html urls or selecting bookmarks causes Konqueror to display properly?

Okay something i find very odd. When booting the livecd network manager is there, i select my wireless net and connect. Yet i install and it doesn't appear, i click the network bit under the status tab of the computer menu and by default it's using ifup and not network manager...anyone else get that? Or is it supposed to be that way...seems rather unfriendly though.

View 1 Replies View RelatedRecently I purchased a new laptop and installed openSUSE 11.3 x64 Gnome. I was running openSUSE 11.2 x86 Gnome on my previous laptop. Most things are working well, although still tweaking things here and there.
The biggest issue at the moment is starting the network. When I boot the system it loads into desktop (gnome) no problem, but then takes between 3 - 5 minutes to come up asking for Default Keyring Password before it will launch network manager. Everything else has loaded and it running fine except the network.
The first time I launched the system (after install) it worked perfectly, however soon as a set the password for the Default Key this started happening. The time delay before it launches does vary each time but always around 3 minute mark.
Which file contains this line:
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.2; Linux 2.6.29.6-smp; X11; i686) KHTML/4.2.4 (like Gecko)
I want to edit this line.
Does anyone know if Konquereor can be set up so that it displays the File Management View Profile when it opens?I am using: Fedora 10, KDE 4.2.3 and Konqueror 4.2.3

View 8 Replies View RelatedI sometimes use webkit in Konqueror to view certain sites, but lately I haven't been able to since Konqueror crash everytime I activate webkit. I searched for this issue on the web and found among others this:[URL].. I downgraded Flash to 10.0.45xxx and it seems like Konqueror runs fine with webkit now. However I now got this message browsing Hattrick.org:
icedteanp plugin error: Failed to run /etc/alternatives/../../bin/java. For more detail rerun "firefox -g" in a terminal window. This error only occur when using webkit, not with KHTML.
I have the following problem with konqueror. Eveytime when I am trying to enter https://localhost:10000 (this is webmin) or https://localhost:631, konqueror asks me in a popup the following (translated from german):
"The authentification of the server has failed. The certificate does not suite to the server. The certificate has not been signed by a trustable authentification authority"
Then I press "continue". Then the next popup appears asking me: "Do you want to always accept this certificate without any request" And the possible buttons are "always" or "only this session". The problem is that I always press on "always" but obviously konqueror is not remembering this certificate since I have to press all the buttons a hundred times in the ongoing session and every new session. In firefox, I was only asked once and the certificate was stored in list. Does anyone know how to fix this problem in konqueror??
Has anyone had any joy with the above combination? I had the current beta and the square flash versions working fine but when I changed the konqueror engine to webkit I can't get ..... to work.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI can use Konqueror to browse my filesystem but not the web. One of two things happens: 1) Either it just crashes, or 2) it displays an "Operation could not be completed" error page. The former occurs if I type something into the address bar that may require some guesswork, like yahoo.com, and in this case I may get a chance to restart the session. The latter occurs if I type a complete url like [URL]... or if I type a term in the google search box. It suggests disabling the firewall; I have, to no avail. Same thing happens with rekonq but not with epiphany or firefox or chrome. I use openSUSE 11.4 with KDE 4.7. This problem occurred after upgrading to 4.7 - not sure if it was immediate upon upgrade - but before recent issues with the R47 repo. Of course, hoping to fix Konqueror, I updated all of my R47 packages and got caught up in the black screen problem, but now that's resolved and Konqueror still crashes.
I like Chrome but want Konqueror as a backup, no need to install other browsers as long as it works, but I suppose that's the alternative. Downgrading Konqueror would downgrade its library and dolphin as well; I'd rather avoid that, as I had a weird issue with my mouse getting "trapped" in an app in 4.6 - I could still work inside that app, but clicks did not register in other apps or plasma generally, such as the start menu or the "x" button to close the app in question on its own window decoration. This issue has not recurred in 4.7, so I'd rather keep the version than keep Konqueror if it comes to that.
Sometimes the Dolphin file manager displays a "waiting bar" with a blue dot moving left and right all the time. There is a message next to it, stating that the file folder is being loaded. But I do not know that there is anything happening, nor is there any need to load anything. There is also a little red "delete" button, but klicking on it achieves nothing.

I've grown accustomed to using konqueror, and i like it's speed. Firefox on kde is slightly sluggish and consumes much more memory. If i type a website address in konqueror, for example, Google, it comes up with an error message. It expects me to put in Google. Is there any way to make this default in konqueror? For example, in firefox i just type in google or Google.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a strange effect here, where konqueror is started multiple times. It is no problem to start it from the K-Menu. But konqueror seems to be associated with different actions in applications, e.g. many "help" entries; among others e.g. Inkscape: "Hilfe/Inkscape Handbuch" (~ Help/Inkscape handbook") If I'm unfortunate enough to hit such an item, the konqueror items start flooding my task bar, while the mouse cursor - changed to the konqueror icon - is flickering like wild, while konqueror is starting again and again. None of the windows really open and all icons disappear after some time. (due to some resource overflow, but unfortunately I can't find the relevant log entry this time) How can I prevent this ? (Or debug this, if the cause is unclear)
