View 9 RepliesI can't get my sister new computer (she needs for work) to work with her mobile broadband dongle (details at bottom of post). The light on the dongle flashes green when plugged in, it recognises the connection in mobile broadband network connections, but won't connect (i checked connect automatically, it doesn't come up as an option in the top panel network thingy either.
Googled a solution that works for other people, not for me. The solution is for ubuntu 8.[URL].. I've been using Ubuntu for a year or so but not that experienced in fixing problems. The wifi and screen brightness settings are't working either but that isn't really a problem, assume it will get fixed in an update soon.

Ist column shows different customers( like N customers are there) , they require different bandwidht links based on some resolution time will be generated and we have to fix this line with in this resolution time , if not before 1 hr for each customer , this has to genetate some alarm and send the SMS to the particular mobile numbers.everythig is there in the GUI like customer , how much BW they want and what is the time duration , only thing we have to do is ,, linking with the GUi and writing some code to send the generated alarms to the mobile numbers specified.

At Saturday, 23rd October 2010 I bought a USB CDMA Modem named AX manufactured by Alltronix and has series
labeled ACM-001. The chipset is Qualcom. It didn't work on My Karmic Koala nor Lucid Lynx. I try to check some condition by writing some command in shell prompt like: tail -f /var/log/messages, lsusb, and modprobe. Here is the results.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to get a USB modem stick to work with Karmic. The modem is the ZTE MF626 HSDPA on a Telstra Next G plan.I've followed all the guides and links on the forums:Have deactivated the CD autorun on the USB stick in XP lsusb is showing "Bus 002 Device 003:ID 19d2:0031 ONDA Communication S.p.A." demsg is showing "usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1"This seems stable as well, ie checking periodically it doesn't seem to be disconnecting By the way,the blue light indicating network communication/modem active lights up after the device has been plugged in for a second or so.
When I go through Network Connections and add a new mobile broadband connection, there is nothing listed in the "Create a connection for this mobile broadband device" drop-down on the first configuration screen - all the guides I've read say that it should be listed here, but none say any debug steps if it doesn't.Some other guides for older versions of Ubuntu and earlier versions of the modem reference a "/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/20-zte-mf626.fdi"file which I don't have.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to switch to mobile broadband, Ubuntu 9.10, Huawei E1750 modem, provider Telia Sweden. So far I tried this:
(previous: tried to get started with an Option Icon 550 modem, but could not do it. Ubuntu froze completely, networkmanager refused to see the modem after this. Read somewhere that it is (next to) impossible with Ubuntu, but Huawei is a better chance. Maybe I changed some settings on the way, went and got a Huawei)
-connected modem, nothing happened
-rebooted to Windows Vista, installed modem
-rebooted to Ubuntu networkmanager sees the modem, when I select it, it gives a message 'GSM network, disconnected'
Also: Ububtu sees the usb stick as a folder
I tried to use multiple mobile broadband modems in ubuntu 10.10 and encounter a bug as follows:
When i plug in a new modem, all the attached modem is automatic go offline ( thus my connection is down), and try to redial back, sometime the redial is successful, sometime it's not.
It was working fine in ubuntu 9.10, plug in a new modem, all attached modems stay connected.
I have a k3806-z vodafone mobile broadband modem, on ubuntu 10.04. I have added the mobile broadband connection with the network manager wizard. But network manager does not list my connection. I installed usb-modeswitch and usb-modeswitch-data. Still nothing. The disc utility tells me it recognises the modem as a cd drive and a storage device. Evidently usb-modeswitch is not working.
View 11 Replies View Relatedsometimes our ADSL connection gives up and we are left without internet connection for days until the problem gets fixed. I mean by this problem along the phone line. It affects all machines that connect to the internet through a Netgear WIFI Modem Router. I recently tried an alternative when this happens is to use a USB Huawei Mobile Broadband UMTS connection which works when you insert it in 1 laptop. Is there a way i could get the Netgear WIFI modem router to connect on that usb stick or PC that is online on that usb stick and give access to other machines that will want to connect to the web ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI brought my netbook so I could continue to keep up with my homework, which amounts to a lot of typing and editing some TIF files.
Problem: Windows 7 isn't compatible with the router/modem I have access to, so I have no internet access in the apartment we've rented. I know that it works, because I'm using the apartment owner's ancient anemic desktop. Can't do homework on this though.
Problem 2: I have Windows 7 Starter, so I can't use compatibility mode, so I can't use Wubi.
Problem 3: I don't have an optical drive and have just a 512mb flash drive which may not work, so I'm not sure how to fix this.
Problem 4: I don't have a Windows 7 backup disc; never received one.
Problem 5: My dad works with copyright and intellectual property so he'd notice if I pirated Windows and would be extremely not okay with it.
I could probably buy a bigger flash drive if I really had to, hopefully they're not too expensive. I am most comfortqble with Ubuntu but I will use whatever will run the Gimp (or some TIF editor) and Firefox. I cannot afford to get 3 weeks behind on my homework.I've only been off the plane for a few hours and am trying to get used to the French keyboard, so I apologize for any typos that slipped through.

Where (in the web) may i find the supported USB list for CentOS5.4 .

So should I try enableing other Authentication Methods, or could it be a hardware or some other problem?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a cheap and cheerful netbook (Advent 4213) that I carry around with me running the latest lucid build, it has a built in 3g modem which I like cause I don't have to carry a dongle round with me.... which I continually lose anyhow I also have two data plans, one with Orange UK and the other T-mobile UK. The 3g modem is a HUAWEI Technology.
Both sims work for normal Internet access, I can connect to email servers, access web (both http and https) sites, but when I'm using the T-mobile sim Ubuntu One crashes after about 5 mins after attempting to connect. At first I thought it was a problem with either Ubuntu One itself or the lucid build, so I tried accessing the website interface.... I can login but when I go to view my files (I am assuming you are familiar with Ubuntu One) the page "load" progress bar gets so far and then stops..... it appears to be trying to access ssl.google-analytics.com, but just sits there and eventually times out, I am assuming this timeout is what is causing the Ubuntu One to crash.
Stick the Orange sim back in and everything is OK, go back to the T-mobile sim and it no worky anymore hence the reason I think this is a T-mobile issue and not something wrong with Lucid or Ubuntu One..
I am attempting to connect to Virgin Broadband (Australia) pre-paid using a Huawei E160e modem in Ubuntu 9.10 UNR. The problem is that I have no clue what information I am supposed to give when configuring it through KNetwork manager. The password is disabled and I think the username should be telenor which is my ISP, the other info lines in KNetwork manager, however, I am very uncertain of, and I can't seem to get it working. I have switched from traditional setup with ifup to user controlled through Network Manager and the modem is detected. The module option seems to be loaded and the 'mode' of the stick seems also to be correct, it is not detected as a storage device at least.
