I just want to tell everyone how good the Garmin/Asus A10 mobile phone is as an internet modem.I am in Australia and Mobile internet is an expensive thing to have. cheapest is dodo but i had a few problems trying out a friends usb modem.Anyway i was in the market for a Gps phone and discover this one. it is Android phone and pretty cheap so far it is very good gps, camera, mp3, and phone is excellent.BUT here is the clincher. when you plug it into the computer, the phone screen lights up and gives you 3 options.
I'm using Ubuntu for almost two years and everything has worked well till now. One day I have reinstall ubuntu in my computer, but then something went wrong. I couldn't anymore establish my internet connection. I have tried everything but nothing helped. I even reinstall my ubuntu multiple times but there was no efekt. Even when I installed Kubuntu or an older Ubuntu 10.10, there was no internet. I'm also using Windows 7 but there is always a internet connection. I didn't change any hardware on my computer, only a new AMD graphic card. I'm using wired optical Internet 10/10 MB.
newly installed fedora 15 is not able to connect to internet i have broadband connection with wireless modem my laptop is connecting to wireless modem network. but i am not able to configure pppoe connection on it PS: i am able to connect to internet when using wired connection from modem
I am making the switch to Ubuntu and, not being home for almost a month, I am on mobile internet and, I would love to get the ability to send and receive text messages back has I had with the Bell Mobile Connect software. I am at our Lake house and it is my only way to stay in contact with my wife while she is at work as we dont have phone here and, well, cell phone is with the wife
I've been trying to get a USB modem stick to work with Karmic. The modem is the ZTE MF626 HSDPA on a Telstra Next G plan.I've followed all the guides and links on the forums:Have deactivated the CD autorun on the USB stick in XP lsusb is showing "Bus 002 Device 003:ID 19d2:0031 ONDA Communication S.p.A." demsg is showing "usb 2-2: GSM modem (1-port) converter now attached to ttyUSB1"This seems stable as well, ie checking periodically it doesn't seem to be disconnecting By the way,the blue light indicating network communication/modem active lights up after the device has been plugged in for a second or so.
When I go through Network Connections and add a new mobile broadband connection, there is nothing listed in the "Create a connection for this mobile broadband device" drop-down on the first configuration screen - all the guides I've read say that it should be listed here, but none say any debug steps if it doesn't.Some other guides for older versions of Ubuntu and earlier versions of the modem reference a "/usr/share/hal/fdi/information/20thirdparty/20-zte-mf626.fdi"file which I don't have.
sometimes our ADSL connection gives up and we are left without internet connection for days until the problem gets fixed. I mean by this problem along the phone line. It affects all machines that connect to the internet through a Netgear WIFI Modem Router. I recently tried an alternative when this happens is to use a USB Huawei Mobile Broadband UMTS connection which works when you insert it in 1 laptop. Is there a way i could get the Netgear WIFI modem router to connect on that usb stick or PC that is online on that usb stick and give access to other machines that will want to connect to the web ?
I was connected to internet by wired connection in my home. I was able to share my Internet connection to other computer by proxy using squid. My question is, Can I share my internet connection to mobile device by WiFi? I'm using ubuntu 9.10 in my laptop.
I have an issue relating my broadband connection, which I am not able to solve. I hope and wish, that I would find some way out here.
Some introduction: I am using Dell Inspiron (i3 processor) laptop, which I recently bought. I have win 7 preinstalled in it. In win 7, the wired broadban connection (Airtel connection) is working fine and have no issues.
I have been using mobile GPRS(BSNL, Ltd) through bluetooth, and that have been working fine. But today when I tried to connect through landline connection, it didn't workout. But the bluetooth connection is still fine. When I tried to do the connection manually through Network Manager, it is not taking the MAC Address. Till now, after installation, I have not updated my OS.
I surfed the net and tried some commands, whose results I am posting below.
From a post I found out, that I should change my duplex settings (from 100 full to 10 full), but I could not get much. The corresponding commands and output,
I have a MTS MBlaze USB dongle, with which I can connect to the internet. The question is, how do I set up a ssh connection accessible over the internet so that any one can connect to my PC through that (using valid username/password provided by me of course) ? If not possible, what do I need to make this possible ?
I have a new clean Kubuntu just installed. I have a wireless router (access point) that I used to connect to internet in Windows 7. I plugged the internet cable into the router, connected computer to wireless network, created a new broadband connection using login and password given by the provider, and internet connection worked. I want eventually to have the same on Kubuntu.
Here are the ipconfig output from Windows with the working internet configuration:
I want to have the same thing on Kubuntu, but before that I want to be able to have at least the direct cable connection working. Had no problems setting it up on Puppy Linux, but fail in Kubuntu. Wireless connection with the router is no problem, it worked right away.
After plugging the internet cable to the network card I have this:[url] I tried to set up new wired and dsl (not sure which I need, probably DSL as it has the login and password) connections in the Network Connections window but nothing works.
Below are some internet configurations that I guess are needed:
Earlier today I decided I wanted to switch back over to ubuntu, my internet was working fine, but as soon as i reformatted to Linux my modem stopped showing any lights under ADSL - TX and RX. and I can't connect to my wireless connection anymore. What should I doooooooo
I am using open suse 11.3 with kernel 2.6.34 KDE is 4.4.4, I have Lenovo G550 laptop My system sometimes detects and connects the modem to internet and sometimes its doesn't detects and I am unable to connect to internet I have all the updates installed. Because of this I have to use Forbidden OS (windows)
I'm having problems with my mobile connection. This has been working fine for months, but in the past few days it has connected OK, I've been able to transfer data, but after 30s the connection closes. Setup is Acer AA1 with F12 connecting via bluetooth to Nokia 3110c on O2.
So to try and figure out what's happening I put the bluetooth dongle in my desktop PC, also running F12, made a connection and again it dropped out after 30s. Then I fired up windows on the AA1 and made a connection using the same dongle, this time it held up OK. This leads me to think that something has changed recently in F12 to upset it.
In the last week I have noticed that sometimes my Mobile Broadband connection just goes off without me doing anything! I have credit on the dongle account, so it isn't that. I'm using fedora 14 on an acer aspire one netbook. Dongle is a Huawei E160 on o2 here in the UK Kernel is 126.96.36.199-83.i686.fc14
Sometimes unplugging and replugging the usb dongle works. Othertimes, I have to leave it out for several hours. It does seem to happen daily, though.
I am trying to establish an ssh connection to my server. I have a regular ssh connection working through the command line, so I know my key works and I have the port forwarding on the router correct.
When I go to Places -> Connect to Server the window comes up properly. The only problem is that the drop down menu only has one option in it for Service Type. It is Custom Location. I have had this set up in the past and there were other options there. I chose the ssh connection and everything was fine. Now it doesn't work.
I have tried to completely uninstall nautilus and reinstall it, but that didn't work. When I did uninstall it, I uninstalled gnome-session as well, and I reinstalled that one too.
I am trying to set up, I am having problems understanding what steps I need to take but have done the following on recommendation of help from linux forums but am not getting anywhere with what I have done. PC:
Laptop Dell latitude D610 Ubuntu Gnome 2.26.1
I currently have a wired connection to my laptop but am trying to set up wireless, I have put the antenna on the router and have a wireless network showing called NETGEAR, amongst others, which is my primary router name so i'm trying to connect to that but the actual wireless antenna is on the switching hub. For all intents and purposed assume I am a complete newbie with ubuntu and linux command line stuff, I know basics like pwd, ls and so on but need a good bit of help trying to do this. When I click on this wlan network NETGEAR I get asked for the password, on the bottom of the switching hub is a code for WLAN and I put this in, it then asks for a password for a default keyring, which I do not know. How do I find this out?
But I am still not sure what I am supposed to be doing or looking for to resolve this connection problem, not only am I not a network expert I have no knowledge of linux either and steps to follow to establish a connection.
I tried to preupgrade to f14 and cancel it after some time. Now, I am facing a problem that I cannot access internet from mobile broadband; but I can access net while i am connected via ethernet or wireless. I have cleared preupgrade files with
Quote: yum clean all; yum remove @preupgrade
$ uname -rs Linux 188.8.131.52-56.fc13.i686.PAE
It can detect my HUawei modem and creating an IP as well. But no Internet. Can you tell me the reason?
I just installed Fedora 11 (excellent work by the Fedora team!) and got my Verizon mobile USB CDMA device working after some file modifications (easily found via searching).
I have to click the network icon in the task bar, and select "Auto Mobile Broadband (CDMA) Connection" to get it to connect though. It then shows up via "ifconfig" as ppp0 and all is good.
But how do I get this to auto-start when the system reboots? It doesn't show up in the network manager, and I'm not even sure how to use command-line to start up the CDMA connection! I only can do it via clicking that icon.
