I have a ZTE CDMA 1x Modem (Reliance Netconnect). The modem has a USB interface and it works as a PLUG-&-PLAY device on windows (and has a Flash Storage too for driver information for windows.) I am unable to find my modem on Linux machine so that i can use wvdial for getting connected to internet on my linux machine. This the dmesg output for my modem.

I am unable to install a ZTE AC8710 CDMA Hi Speed Modem on Fedora 10.I have somehow found the Linux Drivers but am unable to compile them as I do not have the required Kernel Headers which I can't download in Linux because my Internet is not working.I have tried the entire process of trying to add the Device ID and setting up xvdial but I am unable to find the ttyUSB or USBtty or USBacm in /dev.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI think I have configured GLink usb modem so far. But when I run wvdial command, I got the following. But I can not browse the internet. Other problem is when I try to use Gnome PPP dialer, it could not connect. Modem type is listed as ttyS0 and so on while I have setting in wvdial.conf ttyUSB0 so it does not support.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using a 'ice.net' D-50 (CDMA EV-DO rev A) mobile broadband USB modem, also sold as Cmotech CNU-680 in other areas. The modem is connected to a USB port on a hp8710w mobile workstation.
As the 11.2 Gnome Network Manager won't connect this modem to Internet (see my first post here), I have downloaded and installed a 'D50 Modem Manager program' from [url]
After unpacking and installing this cmotech-qtmodem-1.6-1.i586.rpm package for suse on 11.2 x86_64, the gui application 'D-50 Modem Manager' is found in the Internet Group.
However, neither this program does connect the D-50 modem really on 11.2 x86_64 (as it did on 11.1 x86_64). Tried both traditional network setup and with Network Manager.
Any idea and suggestion how to trobleshoot this further? I think I've seen that a newer version cmotech-qtmodem 1.9 has been mentioned on the web, but without being able to find and download this version.

I use Cricket Broadband. I set up my USB modem using the exact same init strings, settings and other info that makes my modem work in other distros. I don't see a way to call a PPP application to make the system dial out on my CDMA modem. Where do I find one using this Live 32 bit CD?

Sprint lists this as a U300 but the actual part is a Franklin Wireless FW300DOWMX.
lsusb shows this as ID 16d8:6002 CMOTECH Co., Ltd. and ID 0409:005a NEC Corp. HighSpeed Hub
so my box can see the part.
If I can get just the 3G working that would help a lot. I would be happy to do beta, even alpha, testing.

I am using Linux Mint 9 Gnome: Isadora (since the same Network Manager applet is used in Ubuntu, I am asking the question here too)I was trying to configure my wireless card to connect my PPPoE connection by using the command pppoeconf wlan0 and also pppoeconf.I was not able to dial my PPPoE connection when connected via Wi-Fi. When I restarted my system, in the Network Manager, under Wireless Networks it says "Device not managed". Now I am not able to use my Wi-Fi card at all and cant connect to my Wi-Fi modem.
There is no hardware Wi-Fi switch, only the key combination Fn+F2 to enable or disable the wireless card.I have used the key combination Fn+F2 (which enables or disables the Wi-Fi card) many a times, but the same thing is displayed in the network manager.If I use LiveCD mode and use any distro even Isadora, the Wi-Fi works fine.My ethernet connection is working fine. I can connect to the internet if I connect my modem using Ethernet port.
I have a ZTE MF100 3G internet USB modem working fine under ubuntu 10.04 but, there is a little problem:-It does connect in 2 modes: 2G and 3G. If 3G signal is fairly strong, downloading speed reaches 200 KB/s for 600 MB/Day, then for the rest of the day it switches to 2G mode with 15 KB/s max downloading speed. If 3G signal is weak, it switches automatically to 2G, and that's what I hate. Under Windows, I can manually force the modem to connect in 3G mode even if the signal is weak.

The network works fine and I have no problems, but I now need to ssh to a work computer and the only way I can do that is if I drop the security in my dsl modem. So I thought all I need to do is use port forwarding on my dsl modem, but it won't let me because it is on a different subnet. I tried putting the dsl modem on the same subnet, but that did not work and made it so I could not access anything.

I have an Emobile D01NX adapter for internet, but I simply can't get it to work even though e-mobile is in the Japan mobile broadband options in network connections (maybe for some of their USB adapters?).

I looked up this issue on the Japanese Ubuntu forums (here) and what I gather is that there is some sort of technical issue with the translation chip (Elan VMB5000?) but that the Sharp Zaurus (link), which runs on a linux variant, has a driver out for my specific device (here). I am looking for information on how to set up my laptop (running ubuntu 10.04) as a wireless access point for other wireless computers, through a mobile broadband usb device. My reason for wanting to do this: i have a mobile broadband verizon usb device for connecting to the internet when a regular wifi connection is not available. however, my wife does not, and it would be nice if she could use her wifi to connect to my laptop wifi and subsequently share my mobile broadband connection. Independently, I have no problems with wireless connectivity using wifi or mobile broadband, I am simply unable to figure out how to configure the two to work together in such a way as to create a wireless access point via my laptop.
View 3 Replies View Relatedjust finished installing Ubuntu to my dell mini 10v netbook. I really like it so far but I have hit a problem that may be a potential deal breaker. I have a CDMA HTC Hero phone that I have rooted. I installed the "wireless tether for root users" app on my phone and use it ALL the time to go online on my netbook through my phone on windows. However Ubuntu 9.10 does not seem to connect to my phone running this app. It sees the SSID, and i tell it to connect, and then I just get that circle thing for a couple of minutes then it gives up and connects to my main router if its in range.

Since an upgrade from 10.10 to 11.04, all wireless devices for me in the plasma network manager applet are not functioning properly on a Dell Latitude E4310. Specific problem: No wireless networks appear in the plasma network manager applet. Manually-configured networks do not connect. A separate CDMA card appears, but cannot establish a connection. The CDMA card does function on 10.10 machines, and formerly worked on this machine. The only wireless 'network' that appears in the plasma network manager widget is 'hidden network'. Manually adding a network and checking "Connect Automatically" does nothing. I attempted a fresh install after the upgrade itself failed the work. There are no networks to click on, and selecting the device itself merely shows the status page.

find and install modem driver for the Alcatel X200 USB modem?
I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.
