I have a Huawei U7510 mobile phone (using the '3' network in the UK) and want to connect to the Web using this device when I'm not at home.
I dual boot my laptop (Karmic and Win7) and have successfully connected to the net in Windoze.
I have downloaded GnomePPP but it can't detect the modem. how to setup my connection in Karmic
I have a ZTE CDMA 1x Modem (Reliance Netconnect). The modem has a USB interface and it works as a PLUG-&-PLAY device on windows (and has a Flash Storage too for driver information for windows.) I need to find a driver for a Sprint 3G/4G modem. I am running 9.04.
Sprint lists this as a U300 but the actual part is a Franklin Wireless FW300DOWMX.
lsusb shows this as ID 16d8:6002 CMOTECH Co., Ltd. and ID 0409:005a NEC Corp. HighSpeed Hub
so my box can see the part.
If I can get just the 3G working that would help a lot. I would be happy to do beta, even alpha, testing.

When I restarted my system, in the Network Manager, under Wireless Networks it says "Device not managed". Now I am not able to use my Wi-Fi card at all and cant connect to my Wi-Fi modem.
There is no hardware Wi-Fi switch, only the key combination Fn+F2 to enable or disable the wireless card.I have used the key combination Fn+F2 (which enables or disables the Wi-Fi card) many a times, but the same thing is displayed in the network manager.If I use LiveCD mode and use any distro even Isadora, the Wi-Fi works fine.My ethernet connection is working fine. I can connect to the internet if I connect my modem using Ethernet port.
I have a ZTE MF100 3G internet USB modem working fine under ubuntu 10.04 but, there is a little problem:-It does connect in 2 modes: 2G and 3G. If 3G signal is fairly strong, downloading speed reaches 200 KB/s for 600 MB/Day, then for the rest of the day it switches to 2G mode with 15 KB/s max downloading speed. If 3G signal is weak, it switches automatically to 2G, and that's what I hate. Under Windows, I can manually force the modem to connect in 3G mode even if the signal is weak.

I have a home network with a linux dhcp server and a couple of clients. The Internet comes from a dsl modem with a different subnet than my wireless router. The network works fine and I have no problems, but I now need to ssh to a work computer and the only way I can do that is if I drop the security in my dsl modem. So I thought all I need to do is use port forwarding on my dsl modem, but it won't let me because it is on a different subnet. I tried putting the dsl modem on the same subnet, but that did not work and made it so I could not access anything.

I've been all over the internet trying to locate Linux drivers but no success. Alcatel's website says is not supported, only in Windows. I'm sure there's gotta be a way to use the X200 in Linux.

I couldn't connect my Micromax 300G modem in Debian Linux. From internet (in Windows Vista), I came across the information of USB_ModeSwitch and then I downloaded it. While going to install it, I came across the problem that TCL-interpreter is not available in Debian Linux. Then again I restarted my laptop in Windows Vista and connected my Micromax modem and from internet downloaded TCL8.5.10-src.tar.gz. But while going to install it, I came across the problem that " configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH " . Also as presently, I am unable to connect my modem therefore I am unable to issue the code:" apt-get update ".

About 70% of the time, my computer is unable to find any wireless signals whatsoever, despite being right next to the router. When it does find the signal it connects fine and runs great, but most of the time it doesn't show any signals at all. I can't find any pattern to when it does or doesn't find the signal. My result for the "sudo lshw -C network"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been running F13 since it came out, with the wireless working fine since I got it working (using the RPM Fusion repository, broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-1.fc13). Since I updated software (without reading what was to be updated), yesterday, I am unable to even find wireless networks, although I am, as you can see, able to access through eth0 It is not a hardware problem, as I can not only find them, but access them on Ubuntu 9.10 live disc. I am using a broadcom modem. After failing to connect it, I decided to use an NDISWRAPPER, but it needs a drive I cannot find: I believe it is bcm4312.inf. Finding drivers is not that difficult to find; but finding this particular one in .inf format has been difficult. Is there any forum (this?) where I could request such a drive?

When I was using Windows, I was able to connect to the unsecured wireless network. Now on Fedora 10, the wireless card is working and is able to pick up signals but the signal strengths are markedly decreased and I am unable to see the network which I usually connected to.I really don't want to go back to Windows.

I can still access Internet through Ethernet using a LAN cable but the network monitor doesn't show list of Wireless networks which my room mate's windows 7 machine easily detects.

I'm running Lucid Puppy 5.2 off a live-CD. Wireless router works fine on Windows 7, but Puppy says it doesn't see any interfaces(?). I've tried dozens of the drivers that it has listed, none seem to find the wireless.
Wireless router is a Realtex RTC8188CE. Loading the Puppy RealTek drivers (there are three of them) didn't work.
I see there's an option for using the windows drivers, but I A) don't understand how to find them through appropriate functions on Puppy and B) it says it is looking for .int (I think) files, and the 'drivers' that I could find were .sys.
I'm sure its apparent I'm an extreme novice here. I've used Ubuntu for years, this is my first try at Puppy. Everything is working fine except the internet, which, predictably, is the primary thing I want to use this computer to do.
I am unable to find Atheros AR8132 PCI-E Ethernet Controller driver for CentOS which is installed on my netbook.
I contacted DELL to provide me the driver and they said that they do not support Linux on netbook and I have to arrange it myself.
I told them that I don't need help in installing I just need the driver file to which they said that they don't have driver for Linux.
NIC is getting detected and works fine on the same netbook (Am dual booting Windows7/CentOS) with Windows7
When I type: ls -l /dev/ it does not show up eth0. Same result with ifconfig. When I type lspci | grep net it does show up something like Atheros Communications AR8132 L1 PCI Gigabit .
I have the Linux bible however am finding it impossible to get online. I have dial-up (Rosewill USB) I just installed FC12. It cannot find the modem. First, do I need a driver, where do I find it. It is not a winmodem. I am very excited to get away from Microsoft and their monopoly but I just need to get online.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI installed Ubuntu 10.04 this morning and everything is working fine apart from one thing. I am unable to install my Speedtouch 330 modem on it and connect to the internet, I looked on the help pages and found this:
"Visit Ubuntu Packages Search and search for each of the following packages. Download them to a folder that is also visible from Ubuntu (or to a USB stick).
As I cannot access the internet I had to go back to windows, download them onto a memory stick, go back on to Ubuntu and install them. The first 12 worked fine and are now installed but number 13 and 14 wont allow me to update because "the dependency is un-satisfiable" does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I was also unable to get the USB ADSL Modem Manager too install either because of another error.
I cannot install Kubuntu (or Unbuntu) 10.4 on my husband's computer. I have spent 5 hours on this and cannot get anywhere. I am deeply frustrated. The iso I burned to CD is good (works on 2 other computers). His computer will not boot from USB, no matter what I do to the drive order in BIOS. After loading the blue screen with the Kubuntu logo on it (and the blue-white dots), the screen changes to black and shows the following text:
