I have a Toshiba laptop with an Intel Pro Wireless 3945 wireless adapter. If I boot backtrack from a CD, the wireless card is found and I can run airsnort and collect packets. When I use vmaware to boot backtrack3, my wireless card is not found. My network connection is set to bridge in vmware. Does this have something to do with windows using the wireless adapter at the same time vmware is?

When I open network settings in YAST my wired (ethernet) card shows up but not the USB. If I manually add a wireless card, I can't select the kernel module from the drop down list - there is nothing in it. At that point I abort YAST. So, how do I convince YAST that there really is a USB wireless adapter connected?
I've put a second video card in my computer running 9.10(64-bit) to setup a 3rd monitor.
I'm using the following video cards with the 190 driver from nVidia:
Video Card 0: nVidia GeForce 9500 (PCI express x16)
Video Card 1: nVidia GeForce 6200 (PCI)
but when i run lspci the second video card isn't seen in the list. The bios is set to automatic detection, and I've seen it work on a identical second system that has windows 7 so I know the bios is capable of running the two cards concurrently.
I've verified the 190 driver is compatible with the 6200 series and have tested it by setting the bios to use the (PCI) device manually.

I can connect to it from the same Laptop on the Vista which is on dual boot on the same laptop.
Further confusing is that I ran Fedora 14 and connected to another SpeedTouch today.
Already checked the Channel on the wireless nic and it's on the same one as the SpeedTouch.
My desktop is off to the left and there is a space at the right. How do i correct this. I know i have done this before but i forgot. I looked at the 'Nvidia x server settings' but i have never figured the things in that out!

I have a Acer Revo R3610 nettop on which I installed oS11.3. It has an Atheros AR5001 wireless network adaptor.I'm getting very bad latency and throughput on with this card. In comparison my Thinkpad with Intel card achieves at least 10 times the throughput from the same location. Also when I boot my wifi will come up authenticate and then a few seconds later disconnect and reconnect. I've tried updating the kernel to 2.6.35 as one of the fixes was to improve the performance of the ath5k driver. I'm using wpa2 authentication.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have lenovo thinkpad, T61 with Intel 4965AGN wireless card. It is a N card, it works under N mode in windwos, but not in Ubuntu (10.10). I installed ndiswrapper and got the windows xp drivers for this card. the issue is that i got an error when installing the drivers and since then I cannot use wireless.
The error i got is: Code: Module could not be loaded. Error was: FATAL: Could not read '/lib/modules/2.6.35-24-generic/kernel/ubuntu/ndiswrapper/ndiswrapper.ko': No such file or director I unistalled the driver, but now under network connections no wireless connections appear, nothing. I cannot use wirless anymore.
I just got myself a Dell Inspiron 1440. And decided to install my favorite distro Debian. I got the installation to go with no issue and all seems to be working fine. However the wireless isn't working. NetworkManager doesnt even detect a wireless card. I followed the instructions here and installed the b43-fwcutter and then issued the modprobe b43 and modprobe b43legacy commands. Then I issued the iwconfig command and this was the output.

I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? Those are my authentication capabilities, obviously. I am using a WEP encryption for my wireless router and according to this, it will not allow me to connect. Is there anyway to allow that? I have read and taken to heart the advice given for receiving help and if any more is needed I will gladly give it. I have a small amount of experience with SuSE Enterprise edition so I can understand some technical stuff but I am best at following specific instructions.
I clicked "Network Settings", and I found that the ip address was wrong, which is "192.168.1.10/24", and netmask field is empty, so I modifed the configuration file located in /etc/sysconfig/network, named ifcfg-wlan0, added one line(NETMASK= '255.255.255.0'), saved it and reboot the system. After rebooting the system, I still found the ip address is wrong and netmask field is empty, so I have to use ifup command to activate my card manually every time the system starts.
