General :: Get Belkin F5d8053 Usb Device To Work?
Jan 8, 2011
I am trying to get the belkin devie to connect to a network
I have failed using wine. (Not entirely sure why and would prefer not to use wine.)
Another website suggested trying to get the .inf file from the .exe driver but have so far been unable to find the .inf file.

I tried all the threads to load and compile the driver for the Belkin wireless-N F5D8053 (Ralink RT2870 chip) I still cannot get it to come up - the wireless status says device not ready. Here is some of the system info relating to the adapter:
terry@terry-desktop:~$ ifconfig
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:14:bf:53:02:8f
inet6 addr: fe80::214:bfff:fe53:28f/64 Scope:Link

I inherited this USB wireless N. I am running ubuntu and OS is not running the USB wireless. I ran lsusb and it does list but doesn't run it. I have been searching the internet for the driver and firmware to no avail. Just putting this out there to see if anyone has some insight or can point me in the right direction to find the driver and firmware for the Belkin F5D8053 v6.
The general consesus of people is that it is not the same chipset as the previous versions. Where they have downloaded drivers of other USB wireless with the same chipset and worked for them.

I've been trying to follow this tutorial: [url] to get my Belkin F5D8053 Wireless Adapter working. I get so far as using the "make" command, but then encounter an error. This is the full terminal results:

I'm looking at buying one of the above cards, and was wondering if anyone knew if they worked in master mode (e.g. as an access point). According to the Aircrack-ng site, they support packet injection and monitor mode. Is master mode support solely up to the driver used with the card, or does the card have to physically support it?

I just moved to Linux, and I really need some help for my wireless adapter. What I am using is Belkin F6D4050 v2. I think I should use the rt2870sta driver. After 2 days working, my laptop can recognize the wireless adapter now. But it can not find any wireless connections. There are some information. Hope they are useful.

I have a belkin n150 usb wireless adapter that doesn't seem to work. I have searched for a solution on this and other forums, but the advice is either too confusing/long for my noob brain, or applies to older versions and no longer works.
I am running ubuntu 11.04, the usb device shows up on lsusb so I know it's there, but I can't get it to work. I have installed ndiswrapper and put in the driver from the cd, didn't work. I downloaded the RT2870 linux drivers, tried sudo make and sudo make install and that didn't work (I probably didn't install correctly).

I've been using Windows all my life (and still have to use it at work) but I made the big leap yesterday and installed Ubuntu on my personal machine (at last). With my "Windows-centric" mind, there are a million things that I still don't get, but I must say the community and forums look quite impressive and easy to access (kudos! ). I am testing this today! My current problem is with the wireless adapter. I have a Belkin N Wireless USB adapter (FSD8053v3) and Belkin, of course, doesn't make linux drivers. When I installed Ubuntu, it recognized it automatically and I could connect to my network, but navigation was very slow so I tried to install Belkin windows drivers using ndiswrapper. It worked immediately, and navigation was very fast. However after a reboot, I lost the connection, I can't even see any of the neighbouring networks.

how udev rules work to create device files. Following is what I did for that: Up on plugging in my phone (sony w800i), I am getting a device file 'devcdc-wdm0' created. I just tried to figure out the rule which is responsible for the creation of this particular file.
I searched in 'etcudev ules.d' and 'libudev ules.d' for the string 'cdc-wdm' to find that rule. But I am not getting any hits in that search. Could any one help me out in this one.
BTW: I am using Ubuntu 9

I have recently installed openSUSE 11.3 I have a Belkin G Wireless Network Adaptor
Model: F5D7050
FCC ID: K7SF5D7050E
Linux doesn't seem to recognise this device at all. I had a look online from another PC for drivers. and they are provided by Belkin themselfs but only for Windows XP/Vista.Is it possible to get this working on openSUSE. I previously used this very same adaptor on an Unbuntu 10.2 PC and it worked with no problems at all.

I'm pretty new to Linux, but have had a bit of functional tutoring. i'm triple booting my old Dimension 8400. Have been running with Jackalope and XP for some time now and wanted to install Lynx and get a good handle on it before i completely wipe my other machine (Win7/Jackalope) and install it there.
Installed Lynx from a USB stick and all seems well, it recognises the UBS wireless and all available connections but just sits and spins on the password login and never connects...hmmm. I have tried all possible combinations of rebooting with the USB connected/disconnected/connecting after... to no avail.
The wireless seems to "work out of the box" just as seamlessly as it did for Jackalope, all the steps are similar, it just never connects.

I've bought an X10 Home Automation USB interface: the CM15.
This is the information lsusb gives:
skerit@KIP-DU-SKER:~$ lsusb Bus 008 Device 002: ID 0bc7:0001 X10 Wireless Technology, Inc. ActiveHome (ACPI-compliant)
But this tells me nothing about where the device file is! How can I find that, or create one myself?

Every time I log in, I get the following notification from Phonon: The audio playback device does not work. Falling back to RV635 Audio device [Radeon HD 3600 Series] Digital Stereo (HDMI) and of course, I get no sound.
Sound is integrated Intel HD "82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller" (courtesy of lshw), and it did work before, it just seems to have appeared suddenly out of nowhere, I can't even tell when and whether it's connected to any updates or other configuration changes.

I am trying to get a USB wireless device to work on my desktop computer running OpenSUSE 11.1.
Here is what I have gathered after working through the sticky on getting my wireless to work:
In Yast Hardware Info:
USB:
UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/usb_device_bda_8189_00e04c000001_if0
Note in boot log:
Failed services in runlevel 5: network
When I go into Yast/Network Devices/Network Settings, I can add a setting for this device but if I quit out of Yast and go in again the setting is no longer listed. What should I do next?

i guess the topic header is a give away. I want to format my USB-Stick, i looked in the internet and actually came up with two ways: gparted -> doesn't work at all, it doesn't even show the stick
-Konsole:
sudo umount /media/Stick
sudo mkfs -t vfat /media/Stick
sudo eject /media/Stick
(even tho i am not a big fan of commands i don't get, i tried it and got this error line:
mkfs.vfat 3.0.7 (24 Dec 2009)
/media/EEB3-EFCB: No such file or directory)
so well, neither way did work. Is there an other solution i might try? €: Well it actually worked as far that none of my Ubuntu OS can recognize the stick anymore so i need a way to mount the usb stick as well!

I just compiled my first own kernel (I'm using Arch Linux), following the tutorial on the german site. Now I tried to boot it, I ended up failing with this message: Code: Waiting 10 seconds for device /dev/sda1 ... Root device '/dev/sda1' doesn't exist, Attempting to create it. ERROR: Unable to determine major/minor number of root device '/dev/sda1' Here is the important part of my menu.lst:
[Code]....
I simply copy&pasted the Arch-entry, i.e. I also had the disk by uuid there. The failure message was the same, just the root device name was the different name Also, at first I did not have the initrd line in my menu.lst (as written in my tutorial that I may not need it). In this case I had this error message:
[Code]....

I am using Mepis 8 on my PC and also have a laptop with windows XP installed. I had the laptop connected to the printer (HP Deskjet 930c) on my PC through the Internet Printer Protocol but it suddenly refused to work. I accessed localhost:631 through my broswer on my PC and there was a error message "permission denied on /dev/lp0". Now my printer refuses to work on my PC also. I have tried deleting the printer and rebooting and reinstalling it but the KDE print manager lets me get right to the final stage before informing me it cannot create the printer. All I was trying to find the URL to install on my laptop.

I'm trying to get sound to work on an embedded board. The boot says ALSA is present and sound chip is present. So I try to open the device with:
The hardware manufacturer assures me the device is hw:0,0 so I set device to:
This gives me:
So I'm presuming the advice that I use hw:0,0 must be wrong? So I need to find a way of working out what the device id is. I've tried default, no effect, then tried the command asoundconf list, which returns an error. I'm using a min linux build on an embedded system (busybox) so is there a way to find my sound device.
