OpenSUSE Wireless :: Unable To Find A Driver For EDUP WI-FI Card
Dec 29, 2010
I can not install a driver for device EDUP WU2070. I have a disk with a driver for linux general. I don't know how to compile a makefile. My OS 11.3v doesn't see a device.
But when I run in Live CD mode all drivers install automatically and my WI-FI device work properly.

I am pretty nifty with Windows but this is my first time trying Ubuntu and Linux. So can I have some step by step guide to install this. I am good at following clear instructions correctly.
Aditional Info: I tired the hardware thing already or whatever its called and only NVIDIA drivers are there and my USB is not recornized because it needs a driver.

I'm trying to find a driver for my wireless card (Atheros AR928X) and I think it's ath9k what I need. As far as I know there isn't a linux driver for it, so I installed ndiswrapper to use a windows driver instead. The problem is that when I type modprobe ndiswrapper I get "bash: modprobe: command not found" (even as root). I know I'm missing something about modprobe, but I can't find any help on google. Anyway, I installed ndisgtk next, because I thought it would be easier, but when I go to System> Administration> Windows Wireless Drivers I get a message "Unknown error".Do you have any ideas on how I'll make ndiswrapper work?

I have been running F13 since it came out, with the wireless working fine since I got it working (using the RPM Fusion repository, broadcom-wl-5.60.48.36-1.fc13). Since I updated software (without reading what was to be updated), yesterday, I am unable to even find wireless networks, although I am, as you can see, able to access through eth0 It is not a hardware problem, as I can not only find them, but access them on Ubuntu 9.10 live disc. Below is my lspci

I have just installed openSuse 11.4 and have been trying to get my Edimax EW-7711In wireless card to work. I have downloaded and installed NDISWRAPPER but when I type ndiswrapper -i /path/to/rt2860.inf I get a message saying that this is the incorrect driver. However this driver drives the card for both Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 10.10, both using ndiswrapper, so what may be the problem with openSuse 11.4?

Recently I purchased for few bucks on eBay a wireless network adapter with name "EDUP 802.11N". This thread explains how to setup this device on Ubuntu. I inserted USB wireless adapter on Windows XP and it was recognized as "Realtek RTL8188SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter". Windows didn't have any problem to install its driver automatically but for Ubuntu I had to give some additional effort.
After that I went on Realtek official site (www.realtek.com.tw) where I found that this device is supported on linux platform, downloaded and compiled linux driver. This driver (kernel module) is for kernels from 2.6.18 ~ 2.6.33. Unzip this file and in "drivers" subfolder there is driver archive (tar.gz).
Code:
>cd rtl8712_8188_8191_8192SU_usb_linux_v2.6.0006.20100625/driver
>tar zxvf rtl8712_8188_8191_8192SU_usb_linux_v2.6.6.0.20100625.tar.gz
>cd rtl8712_8188_8191_8192SU_usb_linux_v2.6.6.0.20100625
>make
>./clean

For several months I was using EDUP adapter with both my laptop that operated on Ubuntu 9.04 exclusively and a desktop that could also boot with XP. Soon after 9.10 was released I updated my laptop and was able to use the adapter to connect to the Net.Recently, I also updated the desktop but also made it exclusively a Linux machine. Unfortunately, I have been unable to get the wireless adapter to work again on the desktop. The OS recognizes the device as wlan0, and lsusb shows:Bus 003 Device 005: 0cde:0008 Z-Com Sitecom Wireless Network Adapter 100G+ WL -125The network manager recognises the availability of the wireless network and attempts to connect. After trying for a while it comes up with a dialog box "Wireless Network Authentication Required" and in response I enter the WPA password but with no success. The behaviour would indicate that I am entering the wrong password but I am not.I have checked it several times and compared with the password that works with the laptop.

I just installed Linux Mint 9 as a dual boot install with Win XP. Trying to activate wireless network card driver and video driver. Pops up: "You are not authorized to perform this action".How do I get authorized?
Now every time I boot Win XP, the Internet Explorer menu bar is all blacked out and goofy. If I log out and back in it corrects itself. If I reboot it's blacked out again. Re-installed IE8. Still blacks out. Also Firefox in Win XP crashes expectantly. It has NEVER crashed on me previously.
