I have just finished to install a suse linux v11.3 on a dell GX520 pc. The installation go through ok and boot up fine. But when i try to play a avi file by clicking on it, it go to search some support file and come back say " it can not find the plugin software source."

View 3 Replies View RelatedI everytime I try to play a mp3 file, whether it is in amarok, audacity, rosegarden, vlc, or anything, the file loads but i cannot get it to play. When i try to play it the progress bar doesn't move at all. Crazy things that it was not like this a few weeks ago. I can watch ....., hulu, avi's dvds, etc. But when i try to play just mp3 it won't. what might have caused this or what I can do to fix it?

Unfortunately there is no way for you to fix this."I have tried the options for dowloading divx codecs completed successfully but "sudo apt-get update" gives an error "bash apt-get". commamnd not found.

Basically the problem is, I can't play store bought DVDs, but I can play my copies of them.
When using MDPlayer that I added to Ubuntu, I can play the copies of my store bought DVDs, but not the originals. However, when using Ubuntu 9.10's movie player, it wont do anything and I'll have to do a force quit to close it.
I learned that this may because there is a repository of packages that cannot be included into the Ubuntu distribution, as I'm sure you already knew.

Running the Terminal, I added the bash command that adds Medibuntu's repositiry to Ubuntu. It also adds Medibuntu's GPG key to the keyring.
(The sudo wget - etc etc etc --quiet update)
Then I jumped down to the... "This command should be run in the Terminal, after adding the repository:" ...And did that. (sudo sed -e 's/ etc etc etc /medibuntu.list)
i just installed 10.10 on my girls laptop (Acer Aspire 5735z) hoping it would fix the old problem i had with playing real dvd's. it didnt. it keeps saying "Could not read from Resource". when i try with VLC is say "Could not read from file". but if i put in a burned movie, it plays fine. i checked and it has libdvdcss2, libdvdnav4, and libdvdread4 installed. i get the same problems with my laptop (toshiba portege m400 tablet) which runs fedora 13.

I've rebooted, tried all sorts of tinkering, it loads the applet (I can see that Flash is loading OK because other things work, and right clicking on the applet gives the Flash menu)
However, clicking the play button does nothing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've had this problem on a few flash games (a couple of EA's sports management games on Facebook, and the Pokemon Dream World.) When I first use them everything's fine, but as I continue coming back to them, they seem to run a little slower each time. Ultimately in the case of the former two it got so bad that they were unusual.
Why is this happening? If they were slow from the start I could understood, but what could be making them go wrong on repeated plays?
I'm on 32 bit Kubuntu Lucid, firefox is my browser, and it's the official flash plugin.
when i try to play a video, from internet it is showing the message 'Either javascript turned off or download and install latest adobe flash player'. View 4 Replies View RelatedI bought this laptop several years ago. It had Vista. Just long enough for me to download SUSe, nuke and pave the HD and install Linux. Recently I upgraded from 1 GB to 4 GB of RAM, the maximum that is allowed given the motherboard (based on from what I am able to learn the Intel 945 chipset).
After upgrading to 4 GB, the machine (according to "My Computer") only sees 2.9 GB. I understand that under an earlier version of the BIOS that the machine would not recognize the RAM correctly. Additionally the "My Computer" page lists the display as "Intel 945GM". My problem is that I can find no Linux utility to flash the BIOS on this machine-- Toshiba only provides the BIOS included in an .exe file for either XP or Vista. I am hesitant to use the BIOS for the Intel 945 series motherboards from their site.

I've got several language multimedia CD-Rom's, made for Windows 95/98/98 SE and 2000, that I'm using by means of my daughter's old PC (Win 98 SE O.S.). However I noticed, also, that you can perfectly use them even with Windows Vista. What I'd like to know is if you can use them even with Suse/Novell and (why not?) OpenSuse Linux.

I am running Suse Linux Enterprise 10 on a laptop and by some strange reason the computer froze from overheating and I was forced to shutdown improperly. Once I restarted it booted right to the command prompt when it usually instead boots to the default user. I managed to get gnome running using the "startx gnome" command. But when gnome loads, none of my normal extentions load like my wireless driver, the sound driver, etc. how to restore gnome to automatically load the default user on start up or fix any other damage I might have done? lol

It *should* function correctly without a router. I tried a restart and Suse has no idea it's there. The computer is currently configured for a wired connection which needs to be changed.
