General :: Cups Server Error Client-error-not-possible
Jun 14, 2010
I am trying to setup an HPC4400 printer attached to a Windows XP box on a Fedora-11 box with the latest updates and am getting the error " Cups server error Client-error-not-possible ". Using the Cups GUI on the fedora-11 box I can find the printer, I get verify that the shared printer exists but still get the message when I try to install it.
I hooked up an Hp deskjet portable to ubuntu and keep getting the above error when I finish installing the printer! How do I get by this? 10.04 LTS It's hooked up to LPT-1 port!
I've been switching out computers to the Ubuntu distro and so far it's been very successful until this recent snag! As I am trying to have a printer plugged in through USB on one computer and shared on the other! I have the USB on the second computer and it found the printer just fine, no problems and nothing else I had to install! I then went to the first computer and tried to add the printer through the CUPS website using all the proper addresses and queue names and I receive CUPS "client-error-not-possible". I have read other threads on this very same problem but to be honest they just make no sense whatsoever to me! I was thinking of just giving up and using a print server but I know that I will run into the same snag as even then I still need CUPS.
I am running Fedora 15 and want to add a network printer (Brother HL 2040) on a Win pc reunning XP pro. Fedora finds the network printer, shows that is shares, but when I try to finish I get the above message. I have emptied the spool file of the test page I tried earlier and nothing but the tmp file remains. Anyone have any suggestions?
I'm unable to change the setting of the actual printer on my system, cant even delete itthe system ask me the root password, after i enter it, i always get this message "There was an error during the CUPS operation:'client-error-not-authorized'."
When I installed Fedora GNOME I could use my printer fine (But I had to change the recommended driver) Now, I switched to KDE and I plug-in my printer, It automaticly adds it, Now I have to delete it and re-add to fix the small bug... Except when I press "Remove Printer" I get "There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-forbidden'."
I have a problem with getting my fedora 14 laptop to connect to my fedora 12 server that is hosting my smb HP Deskjet 5650 printer. The error that I get is the following: CUPS server error. There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'client-error-not-possible'.
I have been able to get my daughters Ubuntu laptop and my wife's Windows XP laptop to connect and print without a problem.
cups does not start with the server. When I try to start from the terminal I get the error message
cupsd: Unable to read configuration file '/etc/cups/cupsd.conf' - exiting! cupsd: Child exited with status 1!
The log files show nothing. cupsd.conf exists. It is user - root and group - root with permissions set at 0644.
My interpretation of this is that the program is not launching from either boot or terminal for a fundamental reason. I do not quite see what that reason is .
I noticed that a bit after I had updated Ubuntu 10.04 through the Update Manager, I couldn't print at all! (I run ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop and have a networked HP Officejet 6110xi all-in-one printer connected to a comp running Windows XP home on the same LAN). Everything works when I boot up in windows vista, so the problem is definitely in Ubuntu.
First, I checked the printer jobs and it said that there was an error with a filter or something. Restarting the job didn't do squat, so I decided to try reinstalling my printer, but get the same CUPS error "error-client-not-possible" right after I click "Apply". I then Googled the issue but didn't find much of anything, so I thought I'd try reinstalling CUPS. No luck there either... Same error again and again.
I'm working with OpenSusse 11.2. I installed and activated the NFS server via yast2. I exported the relevant directory via yast2 (NFS server configurastion) I'm trying to setup my Linux target to boot via NFS. The kernel boots up but fails to mount the file system. When looking on a capture from ethereal it can be found that the NFS server return error when client try to mount the /nfstest directory from this server. The returned error is 13
GNU Emacs 23.1.1 I've noticed that if I run Emacs and M-x server-start, I can use the emacsclient program as usual, but if if I start Emacs using emacs --daemon and then try to use emacsclient the new frame locks up and the shell outputs *ERROR*: Arithmetic error. This issue doesn't happen if I use the -t flag to force terminal mode when running emacsclient.
Since last few weeks i am struggling to setup printer connected to print server.
Here is the setup that i have:
I have Red Hat Linux machine from which i want to issue print jobs.
I have Windows Print Server having multiple printers connected to it.
I am able to print jobs from Windows client to any of these printers. But i am not able to print from Red Hat Linux. (i have verified that i can print using smbclient utility, but based on my reading, CUPS API could be used from application to discover, print and issue print jobs.)
I am not able to get the correct configuration for setting up CUPS client.
I'm trying to install and configure a printer (networked Brother HL4040CN), but I'm getting an error dialog when I click on "New" in the printer configuration GUI.
Action 1) Click on "New" Response 1) a) "Authentication (fetching device list)" dialog box, request password for root. Response 1) b) "Returning HTTP Forbidden for CUPS-Get-Devices (no URI) from localhost" appended to /var/log/cups/error_log A2) Type root password and press enter in "Authentication" dialog box R2) a) "CUPS server error" box, "There was an error during the CUPS operation: 'server-error-internal-error'. R2) b) /var/log/cups/error_log:

Any ideas? I have installed the RPMs from Brother's web site for both LPR and CUPS-wrapper
When I try to configure a printer, I get the message "CUPS SERVER ERROR"- The CUPS scheduler is not running-my printer a (LEXMARK all in one X2600)and worked fine since ubuntu 8.04..But now it doesnt work.Lexmark even provide a linux driver.
I get this error ALL THE TIME after a reboot if I try to print. Going to the printing applet to add the printer does no good because Lucid is not connected to the CUPS server. I found that the work-around below fixes the issue for the current session.
I have been able (with some hair pulling and gnashing of teeth) to print from outside the LAN to the printer connected via USB to the desktop computer at home, until the last upgrade. The laptop will forst say the printer may not be connected, but eventually (usually) after a while says the job was sent to the printer. The log files on the desktop - serving as the printer server have an error message in cups/error_log that I am not familiar with, and don't believe I have seen before. I am sure if I could decipher that error and figure out how to change the behavior to get rid of it, it would once again work. Printing from within the LAN is a no-brainer as it has been for the last several releases. The error that I get when trying to print outside the LAN (via the internet) is:
cupsdAcceptClient: 12 from <WAN IP>:631 (IPv4) Unable to encrypt connection from <WAN IP> - GnuTLS internal error. I am missing something as far as authentication from the laptop to the desktop. how to fix it.
Since there are no new ghostscript in repo for suse 10.2, I went to compile it from sources But, when making I got errors ups/gdevcups.c:4743: error: gx_device_cups has no member named header
[Code]...
Googling about this issue doesn't give me any luck version I'm trying to install is 8.64
I am facing connection refused error 111 in TCP client server program, in android native code which in C , but if code is in JAVA it works fine, but i want to continue in C only, in manifest file i have given permission and ip, port is correct .What am doing wrong?? or is their any network setting?? am using UBUNTU 10.04and If both client server Linux pc it works fine. only if android emulator becomes client then am getting connection refused
Apologies if this was asked before -- I have googled the last bytes out of my Firefox but fail to find anything helpful. Here's my problem:I have a foomatic hpijs cups-driver for a HP Inkjet (Non-PS printer) installed. Printing from UNIX-hosts works. I have cups configured not to allow raw-printing (/etc/cups/mime.types: #application/octet-stream, /etc/cups/mime.convs: #application/octet-stream).I have now installed samba-printing, the cups PS-drivers plus the Windows PS-drivers are populated to /etc/samba/drivers/W32X86/ and get pushed to the WIN-Client.Problem is that when I print from a WINXP client, the printer outputs heaps of Postscript-text instead of my page.I have tried to debug this a bit but fail to find anything really useful. My observations so far:
- The samba-pushed HP_Photosmart_3300.ppd (in both /etc/samba/drivers/... and in the resulting dir on the WINXP client) reads: *cupsFilter: "application/vnd.cups-postscript 0 foomatic-rip"
when I reviewed the error_log I found that it is logging thousands of errors which are similar. I've included a sample of the errors. The following error seems to happen constantly, from many different ip's...
Code:
[Thu Apr 22 01:02:06 2010] [error] [client (the ip address removed)] File does not exist: /home/virtual/site4/fst/var/www/html/colombia-news,
I noticed that on my server, I keep getting the same error flooding my logs:
Code:
We don't use CUPS but I'm sure that package is a dependency of something else. It seems like this is Samba trying to share out to the local CUPS server. How can I disable this from flooding my logs? Samba should not be sharing out any printers at all.
I'm new to ubuntu and trying to use bit torrent, while installing there was an error message, but the program was still shown as installed. When I tried to use it i got this error "urlopen error [Errno 111]".
i have followed what in this link to share my printer to my other windows desktop, but when i try to print from there i see this error in the jobs list
from the linux pc i can print without any troubles...
also here is the error log from the cups: cups_error_log.tar.gz
I have Ubuntu LTS 10.04.2 x86-64 running with default Cups installed. Now I am trying to print on a Canon iRC1021i network printer using a x64 PPD file. Trying to print a test page delivers a "server-error-internal-error".
After this I ran the debugging mode which delivered the troubleshooting.zip file.
i have configured ldapserver on rhel4 for creating address book
following are configuration files on ldap server /etc/openldap/slapd.conf include /etc/openldap/schema/core.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/cosine.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/inetorgperson.schema include /etc/openldap/schema/nis.schema
i am able to import this ldif file into database.also when i perform the ldapsearch on this server with command"ldapsearch x W D cn=manager, dc=example, dc =com b dc=example, dc=com" i get correct output.
but when i am trying to search from another client machine, i am getting "error ldap_sasl_bind(SIMPLE): Can't contact LDAP server (-1)"
also when i configured address book on mozilla on server., it is working fine.but not working on another machine.is any configuration is missing on client machine.both ldap server and client are configured on rhel4es without any firewall or selinux.
I googled this, to no avail. I've restarted cups, to no avail. This is a Networked Printer, but i have little doubt that can be ruled out as an issue. If i want to print an Image or Plain Text file, i get this error; if i print with OpenOffice, i do NOT get this error and it prints fine.I have also gotten a similar error, like "permission denied" or something, but i cannot recall exactly what it said, and cannot seem to recreate it at the moment.I have been getting this for quite some time now (months), but never found out why. Any ideas?
I've been trying to install Ubuntu Server onto Microsoft Virtual Server at the request of my boss, and I've been having an issue I cannot seem to work around. Now my background on Ubuntu and linux in general isnt amazing, I have configured server at home to act as a file sharing platform and a media server, but thats about it.
Now I've gone to install it on the MVS at work and once the install completes, I recieve the following error: Hypervisor error.JPG
I've tried running the install but limiting the resolution, but from what I can rememeber server doesnt install the GUI to start with, so it should just be showing me the standard CLI.
