Ubuntu :: How To Setup Out Of Office Auto Reply

Sep 15, 2010

Very recently I started using Evolution as my mail client. Before that I was using MS Outlook. Everything seems to be OK with Evolution but I find 2 startling limitations.

1. How to set up out of office auto reply
2. What is the equivalent of mail archive.

I tried to google it and looks like many people have the same issue but no proper solution. Is this really a limitation with Evolution?

Fedora Servers :: Error While Installing Squirrel Mail - Failed Dependencies

I'm trying to install squirrel mail in Fedora 10 server: I'm following this tutorial: [URL]. I'm at sudo rpm -ivh courier-imap-4.4.1.20080920-1.10.i386.rpm
When I run the command I get:
error: Failed dependencies:

I found this page [URL] which actually describes the error and gives a "solution" however it doesn't seem to solve my problem

Server :: Setup An MTA To Pass Mail Onto An External ISP/mail Provider?

Jul 1, 2009

I have a Fedora 10 machine that I want to setup to send email. However I don't want it to be a full blown SMTP setup.What I am looking to achieve is when something sends email from the local machine (e.g. from cron) to an address I want it to use an MTA on the local machine which will then connect to, and authenticate with, my e-mail providers SMTP server this will then take care of actually sending the e-mail.I don't want, or need, to setup a full blown SMTP service (i.e. only the local machine should be able to use it) so sendmail seems a bit over the top for my needs. Nor do I want to mess about with MX records (am I right in thinking this will mean I have to manage all mail for my domain?).

General :: Setup Mail Server Behind A Router?

May 13, 2010

I've just finished installed a mail server with Fedora 12 + postfix + courier. I also have Squirrelmail and ISPConfig3 installed. The mail server is behind a router. I have [URL] pointed to the static IP at my router. My ISP has opened port 25 & 110 for me and my router has these 2 ports forwarded to my mail server (192.168.0.100).Workstations in local network can connect to my mail server and send emails with no problem but cannot receive emails from outside. I tried an email dossier and it saids connection timed out on smtp session. Do I need to include my static IP somewhere in the configuration so that it communicates to the world properly?

General :: Exim Setup For Large Outgoing Mail Queues?

Apr 25, 2011

I have a fairly standard Exim setup for inbound and outbound mail. Recently our development team has put together a PHP app that allows us to send out bulk mails to our clients. The PHP app uses standard PEAR libraries to initiate an SMTP connection to localhost (application and mail server are on the same box). The idea here is that the application will send out roughly 10'000 emails in a very short time period (60 seconds or so) which Exim will then hold in its queue for delivery.

The problem comes in where after about 50 emails, Exim stops accepting mail and loggs the following error in the exim_main.log file: SMTP command timeout on connection from localhost [127.0.0.1] Could it be that this is because Exim immediately starts delivering the mail and then stops accepting new incoming connections? I thought that increasing the SMTP limits may be the problem here, but even after setting new values in the exim.conf file to the following, I still get the same problem:
queue_run_max = 5000
smtp_accept_max = 5000
smtp_accept_queue = 5000

This begs two questions: How do I resolve this? What is the best way for configuring Exim to accept a huge amount of mail into the queue in a very short time period, but then gradually delivery it once it's all in the queue? I've seen some people run separate Exim daemons for incoming and outgoing mail; is this a good solution?

General :: Setup A Functioning Imap And Pop3 Mail Server Using Dovecot-postfix?

May 4, 2010

I'm somewhat familiar with Linux and became pretty decent at installing and configuring packages in Ubuntu. One of the things I was able to do with my tinkering was set up a functioning imap and pop3 mail server using dovecot-postfix. Now I'm experimenting with Slackware to get the feel of another distro, and I noticed that the mail server packages were already installed. On my client computer they can pick up that I have users configured and my mx record is working.

However it is failing to send mail saying that it is failing to relay the e-mail message and that the server responded 5.7.1 which was a problem that I was having in Ubuntu when first configuring the mail server. The fix was to edit the postfix.conf file and adding the localhost name of my server. Does anybody know of the file that I need to edit to make it possible to relay my messages with both pop3 and imap.

OpenSUSE :: Receiving Mail Through A "standard" Mail Server Setup?

Aug 25, 2010

Through yast2 I went to network services-->Mail server and took the standard option. My connection type is Permanent, filled in the outgoing server information and got to the incoming mail screen.

I told it to accept remote SMTP connections, open a port in the firewall and bypassed the downloading section since I just want to directly receive mail (I did however tell it I wanted a daemon to fetchmail). Told it to forward root's mail to me and a delivery mod of Directly. And finished.

The system sends mail out but I can't seem to receive any. What did I do wrong or what else do I need to do?

Software :: 'auto' CC All Outgoing E-mail?

Jul 2, 2010

I'm using Debian 5.0.4 with shell access only, exim4 and mutt. I would like 'all' outgoing mail sent by any/all users to be auto'ed CC (not BCC) to a specified e-mail account for auditing purposes. I do have it working for BCC using 'unseen', but I really want it be CC. I have spent hours of searching/reading/testing and have not been able to find out how. I have seen it done on other shells I've been on as a user; any mail that I sent out, I did not see it was being CC'd but once the recipient received it was also addressed 'toaddr@thatshell.com').

It's not practical to add an alias for every user on the system (/etc/aliases) and to remember to do so each time adding a user. If I set in etc/profile alias mail= mail toaddr Users can still find ways around that.

Debian :: Evolution Has Become Disfunctional - Won't Auto Download Mail

Mar 15, 2010

I have Evolution mail troubles.

Evolution won't auto download mail and if I do it manually by clicking Send/Recieve it shuts down. When I restart it the new emails appear.

If I go to Edit and click on Preferences Evolution locks up and I must force it to shut down in order to restart it.

Basically it's become next to useless.

I've tried using synaptic to Reinstall and Completely Remove the application however when I reinstall the same problems are there.

Is it possible to re-set it back to defaults? I don't mind if I loose all information as I can back up easily enough.

Debian :: No Auto-complete Of E-mail Address Evolution

Aug 11, 2011

Despite enabling the "auto-complete" to complete an e-mail address from my personal Address-book, it doesn't work. After pressing on the "To"-button, no e-mail address is visible in the list of contacts. That is strange since the contacts are visible within the address book itself. However, when I typed the name of a contact within the "Search"-field of the address book, it also shows no result. Strange... Additional info: two days ago I replaced addressbook.db in Debian manually by the addressbook.db from Ubuntu 11.04 (I'm migrating from Ubuntu 11.04 to Debian Squeeze). It seems that there is no connection between the visible contacts in the address book and the rest of the Evolution. How can I solve it?
