View 3 Replies View RelatedI am setting up a CentOS box as a NAT firewall that needs to also send mail. It needs to send this mail using an outside provider's SMTP. The provider requires SMTP over SSL. None of the machines inside the NAT will ever send mail except via the provider's SMTP nor will they ever receive mail except to local clients via the provider's IMAP servers.
So for the example the machine is TESTMACHINE. There is one internet facing ethernet port connected to a DSL modem via pppoe.
The SMTP it needs to send mail via is mail.host.net which requires SMTP over SSL (port 465) and username/password authentication.
The sendmail documentation is quite confusing on how to get this simple setup operating, so an example showing the appropriate changes to sendmail.mc and other require config files.
I am trying to setup a sendmail server on my dedicated server. It was pre-configured to use exim from cpanel. Is it possible to use exim for all emails from a a certain domain i setup on the server and sendmail for others?
ex.
domain1.com -> exim
domain2.com -> sendmail
If it is possible can someone let me know how i would go about doing this? If it is not how would i disable exim and use sendmail for all mail?
I had configured sendmail on linux 5.2, Iam using public ip and my domain is registered[linuxforfreshers.info]. I am facing a issue that when I mail with the user sumit@linuxforfreshers.info then I am able to do it. But if somebody tries to send mail to the same user then it bounce backs. I had made the entry of domain in /etc/mail/local-host-name and also I put ok in /etc/mail/access.The mails are working properly with in LAN. But not able to work on WAN only I can send mail but not able to recieve mail. What else I need to do.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just finished installed a mail server with Fedora 12 + postfix + courier. I also have Squirrelmail and ISPConfig3 installed. The mail server is behind a router. I have [URL] pointed to the static IP at my router. My ISP has opened port 25 & 110 for me and my router has these 2 ports forwarded to my mail server (192.168.0.100).Workstations in local network can connect to my mail server and send emails with no problem but cannot receive emails from outside. I tried an email dossier and it saids connection timed out on smtp session. Do I need to include my static IP somewhere in the configuration so that it communicates to the world properly?

After searching the forum I could not find a clear answer to my question so I am giving it a try...
I have installed a LAMP server with Postfix as mail server. The scripts send email as user www-data using the mail server on the same machine.
However, the email got rejected by external mail servers (failed reverse DNS check) so I setup a mail server that meets all needed requirements.
Now I would like to use this second server instead of the mail server on the LAMP server. I found that this could be done with changing sendmail settings in php.ini (I think).
However I am not sure how that will go: www-data is no actual user on the new email server (which requires authentication before sending). Do I need to create a new user on the email server or change the settings in php.ini to match an existing user?
I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

I have a Fedora 10 machine that I want to setup to send email. However I don't want it to be a full blown SMTP setup. What I am looking to achieve is when something sends email from the local machine (e.g. from cron) to an address I want it to use an MTA on the local machine which will then connect to, and authenticate with, my e-mail providers SMTP server this will then take care of actually sending the e-mail.I don't want, or need, to setup a full blown SMTP service (i.e. only the local machine should be able to use it) so sendmail seems a bit over the top for my needs. Nor do I want to mess about with MX records (am I right in thinking this will mean I have to manage all mail for my domain?).

View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have moved from a Windows based SMTP server to Sendmail on Cent 5.5. We have a special application that was written to look at the "BadMail" folder on the Windows box. I am told by my developers that it is capable of monitor remote locations and they just need to know the format or extension of the badmail files.
My question is what is the default location of the badmail folder in Sendmail? This is a default install from CentOS.
We have a application hosted in our server and it uses send mail for sending and receiving mails.mails can able to reach certain ids but it cant reach some ids. this is the log entry.

So I'm having troubles setting up a mail server. First of all, anyone want to try to telnet into <snip> on port 25 and see if it's blocked? I don't think it is, but you never know. How long does it usually take for MX records to get around? I've had this set up for about a day now and still don't see any MX records on any lookup site I go to. I'm currently using slackware 12.2's default sendmail configuration. Should I change anything? I started sendmail on my laptop and got emails going within the LAN but I cannot send emails over WAN (i.e. to/from yahoo or google accounts).e?

It has been years since I had to mess with sendmail (I prefer using postfix) - but I inherited a server that someone else configured. This machine is a webserver - but is running sendmail for the various webforms, etc. I want to configure sendmail on this machine to route ALL outgoing messages to the main email server. This means local users too. I have read through sendmail configurations for the past 3 hours, but it's mostly greek. Here is my current sendmail.mc file - could some kind soul tell me what I need to change (and WHERE)?

I'm currently running Ubuntu 10.10 Server using VirtualBox 3.2.12 r68302. I've setup a LAMP Server and Installed Redmine and I'm going to be starting some projects. The problem I have is that I've linked it to a subdomain thru my hosting, so things are a little more complex for me then usual. Here's the software I've added for this setup:
Ruby version 1.8.7 (i686-linux)
RubyGems version 1.3.7
Rack version 1.1

I have configured a sendmail MTA for incoming mails in a network and by using IPtables i have redirected the traffic internally to other port where one more SMTP by a application is running.Iptables rule:
iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 25 -j ACCEPT
iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 25 -j REDIRECT --to-port 25000
My sendmail config is as below.
Sendmail.mc
define(`SMART_HOST', `relay:host.subdomain.mydomain.com')dnl
dnl # define(`RELAY_MAILER',`esmtp')dnl

Sendmail isn't sending mail for some reason and keeping it in the Queue. I attemped to flush them but it deferres the connection to the server in which it is trying to relay the message to. I have checked to see if there is a DNS error or anything like that. I attemped to flush the messages through webmin.
This is the result.

I am not finding anything in the logs to let me know their is an error. I can ping the mail servers that it is trying to send to. Now it has started delaying when ping MX servers. So I knew something was starting to mess with it. I have checked the /etc/hosts. It is correct. The server isn't black listed. Mail to root just gives me.

I realized there are often weird yahoo connection on my mail server (SCALIX sendmail).
on ps aux | grep yahoo , i get a lot of connections such as these:
I get about a dozen of it, i think it is taking up my connection, anyone has any idea why how these connections appear? Is it because of my server's security loophole?
i currently installed centos 5.3 with postfix. My old server is centos 4.5 final / new 5.3 final. Old server has sendmail / new has postfix. how can i transfer all the mail and settings from the old to the new? also, the old mail server is mail.xxx.xxx and for testing purposes i named the new mail server mail2.xxx.xxx.
when i an ready to put it into production, the new server will need to be mail.xxx.xxx and the old removed from the system. How do i go about changing the name and making sure everything comes out correct?
I'm somewhat familiar with Linux and became pretty decent at installing and configuring packages in Ubuntu. One of the things I was able to do with my tinkering was set up a functioning imap and pop3 mail server using dovecot-postfix. Now I'm experimenting with Slackware to get the feel of another distro, and I noticed that the mail server packages were already installed. On my client computer they can pick up that I have users configured and my mx record is working.
However it is failing to send mail saying that it is failing to relay the e-mail message and that the server responded 5.7.1 which was a problem that I was having in Ubuntu when first configuring the mail server. The fix was to edit the postfix.conf file and adding the localhost name of my server. Does anybody know of the file that I need to edit to make it possible to relay my messages with both pop3 and imap.
Having some issues setting up sendmail on a (basically) blank RHEL 5.5 server setup. My ultimate goal is to be able to automagically send logs / errors / notifications to ourselves from the server.
Our basic setup is a Win 2003 domain with exchange running on mail.domain.com.au.
I've edited the '/etc/mail/sendmail.mc' and added the :
Code:
line to it.
Also added the domain (domain.com.au) to the '/etc/mail/local-host-names' files
Also edited submit.mc and added
Code:
When I try and send a mail from root or a test user to one of the domain accounts, it seems to go fine, i.e no errors are reported but it never gets delivered.
From the mail logs:
Code:
So it seems to be sent to the queue no problems and when I check the queue :
Code:
Total requests: 0
Not nothing ever gets received. Am I missing something? I have read and read and read but dont seem to be getting any furthur.
So in the end this server doesn't need to do anything except be able to send mail from root to an external mail address.
