I just installed F13 from the Live Installer CD today. Most things are working well, but not Evince.
I can't use it at all to view images nor PDFs.
I get a "Unable to open document error":

However, eog is able to view the same file just fine...
I find that some pdf files will not print properly in 32-bit 10.04 using evince. The document is sent to the printer and then the printer simply flashes and never prints the document (I have waited an hour). The same documents *will* print quickly when I print with acrobat reader, although when using reader the the following error message appears in the terminal:
(acroread-en:3915): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_progress_set_percentage: assertion `percentage >= 0 && percentage <= 1.0' failed
The printer is a lexmark X364-dn. The problem seems particularly acute with documents that have been scanned.
I am trying to install skype on a 64bit Fc14 and the 32bit doesn't work.

Postscript version 3010 revision 864) and I can print from Firefox. I cannot print PDFs from either Acrobat or Evince. The print jobs show up as completed in the print jobs list.

So URL...works fine and gets me all the login windows I designed. however currently all the images and other extensions like .pdf are also using the https routing.some image referred on that https link e.g. URL...can be displayed using https but not http.I would like to JUST limit https usage to the login window html and ALL other images pdf's not secured html ( one that do not need password ) should use HTTP NOT HTTPS.

This is my FIRST time using ubunutu and i have spent the whole day trying to get my internet working but with no success. I have come so close to giving up on ubuntu but for some reason i just cant let go! When i type in ifconfig in the terminal i can see that i have an ip address assigned and i can ping my router. But it still doesn't work. But, when i change the java to 1.6.0_18 32 bit and then changing the reference to i386/libnpjp2.so, then it works. So the problem i have is only when using 64 bit java.
Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Just noticed that my kids are no longer able to play webkinz on my 64bit system (Edubuntu). Webkinz also doesn't work on my 64bit Xubuntu system. Looks like 64bit Flash is broken? -- or something is broken between Webkinz and the latest flash. Webkinz, predictably enough, works on Windows, but also works on my 32bit Linux system with the latest flash.Just wondering if any of you out there with a 64bit system could try accessing Webkinz (if you can see the Login moniker and click it, then it's working on your system).

Firefox always tries to download the picture from the web-server although it's in the cache. Resulting in an image file which contains the HTTP 404 response from the server. *lol*

However, it shows an embedded version in the tab that doesn't accept interactions and opens the version that can be interacted with in a new window. Does anyone know what may be causing this? I'm not very knowledgable with the specific commands in mozpluggerrc.

i wondered if anyone could assist me with a problem with gthumb?gthumb works fine on local files - it can thumbnail preview, then i double click the file to view iton network share, it does not work - it does the thumbnail preview ok but the viewer is blank (has image) when i double click - the snow leopard-esque thumbnail ribbon at the bottom still worksi have not issued a mount command - i have used the network drive mapping in the ubuntu menus (places > connect to server) then bookmarked the server. i note that gthumb does not see the bookmark. it sees the share as "sharename on server" and not the bookmark i made for it

I have installed jpeg-8b package, applications installed by it work, but not "system-wide" support for jpeg. Eg. I can use "cjpeg", but Eye of Gnome (image viewer) gives me "Unrecognized image file format" error.

I have installed some pdf readers on my notebook, and the one I most liked was evince. But there are two available evince packages: evince and evince-gtk. What is the difference between them? Does one of them have advantages as to the other?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop that doesn't display correctly since installing F10 x86-64. Instead of using the i810 driver, I see the experimental intel driver. I am running on a Dell D630 laptop with the default intel integrated graphics.
Just to note: Running gnome. I tried KDE and I can actually get this to work and display in 1600x1200. I don't want, "well use kde then" to be the solution. Also, in gnome, if I go to the screen resolution option from the menu, the mirron screens is clicked. Even when I detect monitors and unselect the mirror screens and pick the correct resolution, when I click OK, the screen flickers, and I go back to the same screen with the original default values? Wierd.
I got the bright idea to install system-config-display (something like that), which installed fine. I then changed my default resolution to 800x640 just to try it (really want 1600x1200). Well, I decided to reboot. Not the laptop doesn't start, it stops right after loading anaconda, and just won't go any further.
So two questions:
1. What do I need to change to get the laptop to actually boot?
2. How to get the external monitor to display in 1600x1200.
I'm trying to get skype to work on my new system. It seems to install, but trying to run it I get an error message naming a missing dependency. Searching for this with yum whatprovides and installing the result worked in one case, but for the next one, yum install <package containing missing item> returns a few errors of the form:
package <name-version>.fc12.x86_64 (which is newer than <package-version>.fc12.i686) is already installed Is there any way around this? I'd like to get skype working, but am having no luck at the moment. I'd prefer not to remove the .x86_64 packages if I can avoid it in case that breaks something else.
I've had this same problem in Ubuntu 10.10 and earlier and have never found a solution. I forgot how to change pulse audio and look at the MXSA because that was awhile ago and I haven't messed with Linux since. What have I done to try to fix this? I turned the sound up lol. It was on mute after install.
One thing I would like to mention that I have never asked about before is, I do not have a sound card, I used on-board audio from my motherboard. Could this be a problem?

I've followed the instructions at [URL] to no avail. This problem is common to both Firefix and Chrome.

I've also tries the gnash-plugin and still no flash in either browser.
This TV tuner PCI card does not work with my linux. I tried it in a windows box and it worked great. I tried it with MythDora and found it non functional. Hauppage says that it should work with linux. VLC plays the out put of the tuner card just fine but cannot change channels.
