Fedora X86/64bit :: Flash-plugin Does Not Seem To Work In F11 Or F13
Jun 29, 2010
I'm having the same issue when running F11 or F13 x86_64 and getting the flash-plugin installed just doesn't seem to work. aboutlugins in the browser does not show that the plugin has been installed.
I've followed the instructions at [URL] to no avail. This problem is common to both Firefix and Chrome.
The file referred to in this step (nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so) for google chrome does not exist on the filesystem, sudo ln -s /usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins-wrapped/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so /opt/google/chrome/plugins/nswrapper_32_64.libflashplayer.so
I've ignore the sticky thread for this as I believe that this version of the adobe 64 bit plugin is vulnerable to this issue, [URL]
I've also tries the gnash-plugin and still no flash in either browser.

I'm running Debian AMD64. I downloaded the flash square (64-bit) plugin, and in progressive attempts to get Firefox to see it, I put libflashplayer.so in the following places:
/usr/lib64/mozilla/plugins/
/usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/
/usr/lib/flashplugin-nonfree/
/opt/firefox/plugins/
And nothing, it still complains the plugin isn't installed. I even tried removing all instances of the file and running aptitude install flashplugin-nonfree (cos 32-bit flash is better than nothing), and it still didn't see it.

In my frustration to get adobe flash working in firefox I deleted the /usr/lib/flash-plugin folder. Now when I try to uninstall "Flash-Plugin" from YAST it fails as it can't find the sub-folder. I also cannot install the latest version of flash player as it says that it is already installed - So I am stuck in a loop.
I am running SUSE 11.2.
Is there a config file of installed programs that I can modify to remove the "Flash-Plugin" entry, or is there another way to get over this problem.

But flash still doesn't work - there is no flash plugin in Firefox plugin list also.
I've tried to close-open Firefox, log out-log in, reboot - nothing.

i installed the adobe flash plugin (for linux) following adobe's instructions (download, decompress, and copy the correct ".so" to the plugins directory).
however, the plugin is not detected by either videos or firefox (checked using "aboutlugins"). something must be wrong with adobe's plugin version 10.x!
i want to try a firefox extension called "download videos videos as mp4 and flv," which rewrites the videos pages to include a download button which allows you to directly download the video in mp4. however, it requires vlc media player on linux.
i have slackware, and followed the instructions on this page [url] to use the slackbuild from alienbob. i set require_yasm=no.
however, the build produces the errors below (it tries to build with yasm, and it doesn't find "libvpx.a"):

how to run a java application on a 64 bit Firefox install on Fedora, but I didn't find any simple and direct way to do it. So I'll post this here, hoping that people who search for this problem can easily find this really quick solution.
1-> on the terminal do the usual su -
2-> yum install jre
3.> make a link in /home/your_name/.mozilla/plugins/ folder to the file located at /usr/java/jre1.6.0_23/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
(just select the file, press ctrl+shift and drag it to the plugins folder)
4-> go to http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp from firefox and test your install
Piece of cake, but it doesn't show up in search engines that easily when I look for: jre firefox 64 plugin fedora Granted that many tutorials mention the linking method, but most either tell you to install the binary/rpm from the java site or even installing the 32bit version for older fedoras... yum makes it so much easier.

Can anyone get the website below to work correctly with Firefox 3.5 and F11 64bit?[URL]...All I see is the background scrolling slowly and jerkily, none of the buttons at the bottom work. Reboot into Windows 7 and IE8: the same site is fast, smooth, the buttons work and the product details appear correctly in the centre of the screen.
I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?

My music library contains some old .wma files and each time I try to run Rhythmbox, a window pops up saying that:
<Name of current song> requires an Additional plugin. The following plugin is required: Windows Media Audio Decoder. Do you want to search for this now ?
If I press the search button I get a response saying that the package was not found. Then I press the close button, only to see the same dialog popping up again. The funny thing is that all this is happening while the current songs is not in WMA format and it is actually playing
I am running fedora 11 and have configured both rpm-fusion and livna repositories.

Fedora 11, 32-bit, updated daily manually via yum (console). Today got the Firefox update to 3.5.4. After restarting Firefox, the fist page reads: "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now." The link leads to Adobe site, which offers me Flash Player version 10.0.32.18. All is fine so far, excluding the fact that I already have this player:
[root@pc ~]# rpm -qa | grep flash
flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release.i386
Just for the record, on "aboutlugins" page Firefox confirms I do have the correct player version:
Shockwave Flash
File name: libflashplayer.so
Shockwave Flash 10.0 r32
Does it mean Firefox does not detect correctly the Flash plugin version? Or am I missing something?

I have never had a problem with flash plugin before. Just recently I decided to try gnash to see if it plays flash videos better then flash plugin (it doesn't). So I updated flash plugin from the 10.0 r32 version to the 10.0 r42 version and went under Tools > Add-ons > Plugins in Firefox and disabled the gnash plugin and re-enabled the flash plugin and now flash does not work any more. I've tryed uninstalling gnash, reinstalling flash plugin, reinstalling Firefox. Flash just will not work. Flash works in Google Chrome or if I run Firefox as root.
I have Fedora 12 32bit
I disabled the new version of flash plugin (10.0 r42) and re-enabled the old version (10.0 r32) and now flash works. I dont understand the new version of flash plugin works but only in Google Chrome or if I run Firefox as root?! Also Firefox (as my user) shows both versions of flash plugin 10.0 r32 and 10.0 r42 Firefox as root and Google Chrome only show the new version.

I installed Fedora with Midori. (Using Fedora LXDE spin, 32bit). I installed the flash-plugin package and it seems the flash plugin is not recognized by Midori. I also put the flashplugin.so file into /home/MyUserName/.mozilla/plugins/. Not sure what can be done to make Midori work with Flash in Fedora. I am experienced with other linux distributions but I am brand new to Fedora.
