Debian :: Unable To View Jpeg Images / Resolve This?

Mar 15, 2011

Somehow I got libjpeg out of my system, and can't get it back working. I have installed jpeg-8b package, applications installed by it work, but not "system-wide" support for jpeg. Eg. I can use "cjpeg", but Eye of Gnome (image viewer) gives me "Unrecognized image file format" error.

Could you please point me to some right solution? Where does Debian look for this library?

Debian :: Unable To Run Executable File / Resolve This?

Jan 3, 2009

I am trying to run a file called MFSTOOL from mfstools.sourceforge.net

It its a program for backing up tivo images

when i drop into a shell account and go to the dir of the program then type mfstool
I get -bash: mfstool: command not found

now if I run it by typing ./mfstool

it will give me a list of options and switches for the program, but if i try to use the options and switches with ./mfstools it will just give me the switches and options again IE
Typed as ./mfstool backup -6 -o /tivofiles/images/sddvr40/3510/tivo.bak /dev/hdc/

I know the program works as I can boot with a live cd mount my /dev/hda1 and store files to the images dir, i think i am missing something in a config file to let this program run.

Example of links on the page:
<a href="images/*random numbers*.jpg" target="_blank"><img border=0 width=112 height=150 src="images/tn_*random numbers*.jpg" style="position:relative;left:3px;top:3px" /></a>

I tried:
wget -A.jpg -r -l1 -np URLHERE
but only got the thumbs.

Debian :: Fsck.ext3: Unable To Resolve 'UUID=theUUID'

Jun 24, 2011

Upon booting my LVM wheezy setup, I get

fsck.ext3: Unable to resolve 'UUID=theUUID'
where "theUUID" (without the quotes) is the UUID

I believe this is caused by me trying to get lvm to use the external /boot because when I had unmounted the external /boot, it was creating a /boot in root. So, I booted a live cd and mounted the external /boot where /boot in the root volume is supposed to be. Basically, I think the problem is that I need to make my /boot (which is the only ext3 partition in the entire system and I want it that way) "relate itself" to the lvm root so that it boots into the system. As mentioned earlier, in the live CD, I made the external /boot mount itself in the root's /boot but I don't know how to tell the system to do this on its own while booting without my assistance. I chrooted from the live cd which involved a lot of tedious stuff but basically the important stuff I did were:

grub-install /dev/sdb
update-grub
update-initramfs -u

P.S.I get the issue in the Subject of this topic by telling tune2fs to mark the external /boot, lvm / and /home partitions as "dirty."

Red Hat :: Unable To Select PNGs As Desktop Wallpaper - JPEG Backgrounds

Apr 21, 2010

I switched our main fileserver to new hardware running RHEL 4 Update 8 yesterday. Post the switch my users are finding that the text in the boxes on taskbars at the bottom of their desktop screens no longer truncates but spills over onto that of other boxes, making them extremely hard to decipher.

All our desktops are RHEL 4.8 too. Also, I'm only able to select PNGs as desktop wallpaper - JPEG backgrounds just appear as plain white when selected(!) Has anyone seen this before and knows of a fix?

Debian Hardware :: Boot Warning Fsck.ext4: Unable To Resolve UUIDs?

May 15, 2011

I have $ uname -a
Linux kub 2.6.32-5-amd64 #1 SMP Mon Mar 7 21:35:22 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Most of the time when I boot my PC I get an error about fsck.ext4: Unable to resolve... I don't know why it's happening.

The problem is happening with my external drive that has 3 partitions:
/dev/sdc1
/dev/sdc3
/dev/sdc2

About 90% of the time I boot I do get the error. Sometimes after getting the error I can login and the external drive (/dev/sdc) is already mounted:
$ df -H
Filesystem             Size   Used  Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/sda2               15G   8.0G   5.8G  58% /
tmpfs                  1.9G      0   1.9G   0% /lib/init/rw
udev                   1.9G   246k   1.9G   1% /dev
tmpfs                  1.9G   738k   1.9G   1% /dev/shm
code....

The UUID's in the error file match the output of the command blkid. And the UID's of blkid match the fstab UUID's. I don't know what to do at this point.

Ubuntu :: Gramps Gallery - Unable To Add New Images

May 5, 2010

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this question but I can't find anywhere to contact the Gramps developers outside of bug reporting.

I found that the path to my images was not recognised by Gramps when I restored the backup after reinstallation. I had not changed the actual path where my images are stored.

I was able to fix the above problem by running Media Manager to change the path name as recorded by Gramps. However, when I try to add new images to Gallery, I get this error message: "Cannot import /home/alan/Pictures/<filename> The filename supplied could not be found."

This is even though the file was selected in the normal way when adding a new image to the Gallery. It happens every time so I now am unable to add new photos.

Does anyone know what a "relative path" is? It's possible I have got this part mixed up. I presume an absolute path is /home/alan/Pictures/ . Why am I now unable to add new images to the Gallery?

Red Hat / Fedora :: Terminal - 'unable To Read Input Images'

Apr 28, 2010

1.) Whenever i am starting a new instance of terminal, it is giving messages 'unable to read input images' five times. Actually i had run a shell script that gave this message, but why is it appearing every time, i am opening a new terminal, (that script is already over and it generated the required outputs)? Because of this, when i run 'ls' command, it is showing all the files and directories with the same color, otherwise it used to show them in different colors.

2.) Once my panel had crashed, then i have made a new panel, but after that my instant messenger icon is no more keeps sitting on the system tray as it used to do before, it closes as i close its window otherwise even after closing the window, it used to keep me logged in and the icon use to be there at system tray.

3.) automount for usbdrive not working? Note: all these problems are there only in my own user account. Other user account like root and guest has everything correct.

I am on Ubuntu Lucid (updated till date). I am using Kernel Linux 2.6.32-24-generic Recently I am not being able to run Cheese (webcam tool). When run it is crashing. Upon starting it from prompt I noticed the following error : libv4lconvert: Error decompressing JPEG: fill_nbits error: need 2 more bits The program 'cheese' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'.

OpenSUSE :: Unable To Upload Images Because It Cannot Create The Directories Required

Jun 1, 2010

I'm running OpenSuse 11.0 in a lamp configuration with Apache 2. I configured Apache with the .conf files instead of YAST because I am running virtual hosts (that's another story).

My problem is that my server will not render the pages unless the permissions are set to 775 which I know is not necessary. This is also causing a problem because I am trying to install WordPress onto the server. WordPress will run, but it unable to upload images because it cannot create the directories required.

Apache2 is running as 755 with root as owner and www as group. I changed the owner of the htdocs sub-directories to myself, and created a group that has permissions to write to the directory. WordPress runs as my user and has the same permissions (775).
