I'm using Fedora 9, I've just installed Bluefish, all hunky dory till I press "View on Browser" Button nothing happens. I've tried few cods like these; /usr/bin/firefox -new-window "%s" & %s. But No success.

I have a 5 button mouse and the 4th and 5th buttons are useful for skipping back or forwards while surfing with Firefox. It would be nice if I could skip back in Nautilus too, but it doesn't work. (Alt+LeftArrow & Alt+RightArrow as keybord equivalent) Is there a possibility to use this buttons in Nautilus too?

I can't use it at all to view images nor PDFs.

I installed Fedora 12 yesterday. After installation, I added some packages like gstreamer*, amarok, vlc etc.
Once I rebooted, all desktop icons became invisible and I'm unable to open file browser and browse files/folders.
When I log out, I get this message saying "File Manager not responding!"
I initially thought I messed up with settings, and created a new account. Still no use.
BTW, I use Gnome Desktop Environment.
I went further and installed Fedora 12 again. And did the same package installation. And after reboot, no desktop items is visible and can't browse files/folders using file browser (nautilus).
Recently I have installed Fedora 14 on my other laptop. It's a dual boot with Windows 7. Everything worked perfectly fine, networking included, until my friend didn't accidently turned off the wireless by pressing a wireless button on the laptop. Since then the wireless on Fedora doesn't work. It does on Windows thought. I've tried restarting the laptop few times, but the wireless still doesn't want to work again.

Running webcam_server with the -a (test) option, it appears to be doing something. But when I try viewing it with the included Java applet, I get a core dump from the webcam_server process and error messages from the viewing applet. I also cannot successfully view anything with a browser as described in the documentation.

I would like to open pdf files in a web browser window. I have installed mozplugger and xpdf, but it does not work , I have only blank, white screen. I installed Adobe PDF viewer, and it worked good, but I don't want to use bloated PDF viewer.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy problem was that I have a Logitech Squeezebox Boom Network Media Player. I was not able to use my browser to view the device BUT when it was connected to its internet account I was able to see it although not use it. I figured out that post 9000 which it used to communicate between the server software and the network player was blocked.
I looked into using iptables and also firewall but then I found an article explaining why an oracle program would not work with SELinux. I then had a quick look round SELinux and added a rule to the 'Network Port' list. I added port 9000 with a type of http_port_t.
i install bluefish editor [URL] by terminal and i install successfully. tell me from where i can run this editor.

Could it be software related?It happened on my 700 surf for a little while, but before I could really get worked up, it had resolved itself. btw my 900 is maybe old but has not till I aquired it seen much use, I doubt it could be from overuse, but then again, you never know..

I use it as a headless server and the power button had always worked.at first, I updated from 10.04 to 10.10 and everything was working great but I decided to reinstall the os on a new HDD. then when I want to shutdown the server, I need to login with ssh and shutdown it with "halt -p", the power button doesn't do anything. I started with Arch but 4 hours later, I'll take anything so now I'm trying Ubuntu.It appears that the keyboard function button that corresponds to my wireless does not work, and perhaps is windows dependent?Every time I try to interact with wlan0, I get the error "Operation not possible due to RF-kill". And as I've looked around online, it has been suggested in other forums that the only way to resolve this is to reinstall windows and dual boot, so the FN key will work.
I think this is ridiculous. There must be a way to persuade the RF-kill to be turned off again, shouldn't there?I don't have a recover disk for this laptop and I don't want to go through the trouble of requested one from acer. I reformatted the whole disk while attempted to install arch.
noticed that the button at the bottom left corner of the desktop doesn't work.It is supposed to hide everything on the desktop and when clicked again bring everything back.I was jacking around (learning) with Compiz yesterday, but not sure how that could affect it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a Samsung N130 with a Realtek 8192 wifi card (possibly 8192e, I'm not sure) and I am trying to run Fedora 12 on it. I used to run Ubuntu until trying their latest beta and realizing it's not very good, so I looked for something else. Ubuntu was at least easy to get the wifi working with just a few quick commands that were written out, word for word, in order, on the Ubuntu forums. I tried openSUSE on here and it didn't have wifi working out of the box either but people on their forums refused to give me actual instructions and just kept bumping me from thread to thread with people giving vague advice or else just telling me I was looking in the wrong place. I'm hoping that someone can give me clear and detailed instructions on how to get this wifi card working. Keep in mind that I am coming from Ubuntu and so I'm not super comfortable in CLI, if I need to do some CL stuff I will need clear and detailed instructions on how to do that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedFedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. (I assume because Update manager removed the old nvidia? But I also assumed that a new version would be installed automatically?)I received the following Boot messages:

I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?
I just found it out now, after installed the skype and tried setup my web/audio on it, the webcam works fine but the mic doesn't work, so i went to the audio menu on fedora 14 and found it out the mic is dead.Someone had the same issue? Can someone let me know what can i do to fix that?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI have winbind Active Directory authentication set up on my laptop. AD authentication works like a charm, passwords cache, etc. I can use sudo with no problem. However, I cannot use the root account -no matter what I set the root password to, the system will not take it. I also have a couple of normal system users (not winbind), and no matter what I set their passwords to, I cannot login.

When I paste that into the terminal I got "No such file or directory", but when I normally browse the folders then it is there...
I have a NFS mounted home dir, so i couldn't use .face for the users in the gdm Face Browser. In older Ubuntu versions I would have just put the images in /usr/share/pixmaps/faces/ and it worked.
For some reason that doesn't work any more. Can't tell you which was the last version it worked on, but i will try to find out and post later!
right now I use Ubuntu 10.10 with gdm 2.30.5
tried: jpg, png and username without extension also tried: /usr/local/share/pixmaps/faces/ and to configure it in /etc/gdm/custom.conf
couldn't find anything online, regarding the gdm doc for 2.30 it still should work that way!
