This TV tuner PCI card does not work with my linux. I tried it in a windows box and it worked great. I tried it with MythDora and found it non functional. Hauppage says that it should work with linux. VLC plays the out put of the tuner card just fine but cannot change channels.

I see that I have HDMI connector and S/PDIF connector on the mortherboard, I just have HDMI connector on the monitor, I have no problem with the video but the audio does not work, I just want to confirm that the audio should also go throught the HDMI cable right ?

The only user that can make the sound card work on a F10 x86_64 system is root. For non root users, I am not seeing any error messages when a app tries to use/access the sound card, just nothing plays. As I said, for root everything works as expected. I am sure this is a permission/setup issue, but I have no idea where to start.

I've tried disabling all adblock /pop up block options, ensured all javascript options are enabled and no change. Could this be a problem with the 64 bit flash player (installed from leigh's sticky thread) or a problem with OpenJDK?
Just a short note on getting this card to work in Fedora 14 (and presumably Fedora 15) 64bit. First of all, none of the rpm packages which you might choose will work because none of them are for this chipset. First, one goes to the Rosewill website, finds the driver for this card as a compressed tar file. After downloading it and extracting, you will find in the parent directory a Makefile and README_STA_PRI.
The instructions in README_STA_PRI, if followed carefully, will do the job except for one thing: there is a mistake in the os/linux/config.mk file that needs to be fixed. In the $(PLATFORM),PC 2.4 branch, change -imarch=i686 to -march=core2 and more importantly, in the 2.6 branch, add -march=core2 to the EXTRA_CFLAGS and add export CFLAGS (which would otherwise not be done). In the main Makefile, as per the instructions, I set HAS_WPA_SUPPLICANT=y and HAS_NATIVE_WPA_SUPPLICANT_SUPPORT=y so that the Network Manager can control the card.
In the instructions, wps_supplicant is not where they indicate (it is in /usr/sbin/) and the configuration file which I used was in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf, not the one in the dbus-1/system directory. The wpa_supplicant command was run before the make and before "insmod rt3562.ko", and it generated a bunch of error messages because the card had not be recognized yet. The error messages didn't seem to matter.
The card was already in the machine and when "insmod rt3562.ko" was executed, the card was instantly recognized and the network manager set it up and put it into play without any further fuss or muss.

I forgot how to change pulse audio and look at the MXSA because that was awhile ago and I haven't messed with Linux since. What have I done to try to fix this? I turned the sound up lol. It was on mute after install.
One thing I would like to mention that I have never asked about before is, I do not have a sound card, I used on-board audio from my motherboard. Could this be a problem?
I'm having the same issue when running F11 or F13 x86_64 and getting the flash-plugin installed just doesn't seem to work. aboutlugins in the browser does not show that the plugin has been installed.

I got the printer to print, but I do not know how to get the scan function of the printer to work with Fedora 15.

My Nvidia card seemed to conflict with my HVR1600 tuner , so I thought I would switch to ATI. With the FGRLX driver , there was an error in the xorg.log , so I thought I would just use the Radion Driver. It works , but glxinfo shows "OpenGL renderer string: Software Rasterizer". I assume this means no hardware acceleration. Is this normal. Graphics seem a bit choppy, I would like to get one driver or the other to perform well. By the way, I have a few problems with Kubuntu, but over all I am really liking it

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have programs that work in FC10 and FC12, but when I run them on FC11, i get behaviour that is very similar to a deadlock. They don't crash or anything. It just seems that all program output stops at one point and never resumes. I am wondering if FC11 has any known threading issues that one may need to know about before trying to use it to run their software from FC10 or FC12. Maybe something in the way that threading is handled differently from FC10 or FC12 that is not necessarily a problem, but just needs to be kept in mind when writing code for FC11.

i m trying to fix the nvidia drivers and stuff to let Desktop Effects work. I reboot after some changes, and at first I got a kernal error message, and the Fedora froze. So I restart,, and it freezes before I even get the error message. Pop in the live cd, booted up from it so I can talk to my fedora friend, and the reboot to try again. Works, still hasn't froze, and I could get the actual error info.
View 4 Replies View Relatedi'm new to linux, and recently installed fedora 14 on an old hp pavillion dv2700. it originally had vista home premium, but the hard drive crashed and had to be replaced with a new one, which had no os on it. i installed fedora several days ago, and everything worked perfectly until a day ago when suddenly the wireless card wouldn't turn on anymore.
my sister was using the computer (just videos) and a few seconds after she handed it back to me, the wireless light turned from blue to amber, and it said wireless was diabled, even though i hadn't touched the switch. before the computer crashed, it had a problem of the light always being amber when it woke up from standby, but flipping the switch off and back on would fix it. now no amount of wiggling and flipping seems to do the trick.
First off I'd like to say if I hadn't put Fedora on my USB stick I'd never discovered that my old laptop had built in wifi, and it was just disabled in the BIOS. I was originally trying to get my Linksys WEC600n card to work. Once I turned on the internal wifi, and took out the linksys card, fedora picked it up right away. My problem is when I try going to websites they won't work, except for FedoraProject. (If I try to navigate to the FP forums it doesn't work either.) I'm not sure what would be the cause of this, so I have no idea where to start.

2. I put in my WEP key.
3. It appeared to connect fine.
4. Websites won't load.

I found a solution to my card reader problem in a another fedora post but when I type the code in terminal I get:
all config files need.conf /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
How to write this code so I wont get this error and I can load these modules and also how to edit the modprobe.conf.
The code is below, using fedora 13.
You must load these two modules to work with card reader.
First : Remove the card from the Reader!
AS superuser type in console :
1. /sbin/modprobe tifm_core <enter>
2. /sbin/modprobe tifm_sd <enter>
If you want to automate these modules loading do the following :
edit the /etc/modprobe.conf file
add these :

I have just bought a new PC with an ASUS M4A78-AM motherboard with integrated VT1708S 6-channel sound chip in it, so I freshly installed fedora 12 without any issues However, I can't get the surround sound working. I have searched many forums a lot, and haven't found any solution yet.It seems that even the SPDIF output does not work on this sound card, and that is what people talk about on almost every forum / mail list. So I was unable to find almost ANY information regarding ANALOG surround sound.
The motherboard has 3 jacks on it - green for FRONT / 2 speaker set; blue is the line in OR THE REAR-SPEAKER out, and pink is the microphone OR side speaker out in the 6-spk configuration.My speaker configuration is 4.1 [2 front, 2 back and subwoofer]. Line out does not produce any sound.I have uninstalled pulseaudio [sudo yum remove pulseaudio]Now alsamixer shows a lot of controls, but even if I unmute line out and set it to max, it is still not producing any sound.

On my FC11 64 bit system, I successfully use a card that is reported in /var/log/gdm as

However, on boot up, he NVA8 card produces a blank screen when the login screen should appear. (The graphical boot screen is visible up to that point). If I do "startx" in the console, I get the message that the Xserver is already running.
I just installed Fedora 10 on a brand new machine with an on-board nvidia MCP73 ethernet card. Now, when I initially boot up the box after installation, the card comes up and gets a DHCP address just fine. When I go to edit the network settings (change to static) the NIC dies.
