1.crash & warning showed as soon as dekstop was prepare ( note that i had not even installed f14...i was about too but this error drive me crazy and make me confuse ? )alright i got that , here is all u need ...gnome disk utility 2.32.0-1fc14reson process/usr/libexec/gdu-notification deamon was killed by signal 6(SIGABRT)crash count :11.crash & warning showed as soon as dekstop was preparegvfs crash 1.6.4-2,fc14reason process/usr/libexec/gvfs-gdu-volume monitor was killed by signal 6(sigabrt_crash count :2so now tell wheather i should install f14 frm this cd or make another ?

When I use nautilus open my home directory, everything is OK except that the file contents in the home directory are not presented. It seems that nautilus is still waiting and busy.
After that, I try to enter the user's home directory by the Terminal and succeed. I can use 'ls' to display the file in the home directory, But when I use 'ls -a' to print the hiden files, again the Terminal seem to be lock. the 'ls -a' is locked, I fail to 'kill' it.
At last, I find that everything that connects to the behavior which need to enter, delete or just dsplay the /home/$USER/.gvfs will fail and lock, and without any error message.

I find that the FC 15 Xfce spin will save the user's current session except that it doesn't save what is being done with the Lyx editor. Under FC 15 Gnome 3, I found that after I added the minimize-maximize-close buttons to the top of windows, that some of the windows in Lyx (such as the one that appears for View as DVIPS) didn't respond to those buttons. (I don't remember whether Gnome 3 saved the Lyx session and I've gotten rid of Gnome 3 now.)

I have a Debian testing box with Xfce (no Gnome, no Nautilus). It has all gvfs-related stuff installed, including all backends and fuse interface. But any attempts to gvfs-mount anything (like sftp://... or smb://...) fail with error opening file: Operation not supported, and gigolo shows only 'unix device (file)' in the list of supported protocols.My ~/.gvfs has rwx permissions, and I'm a member of fuse group; other fuse-related stuff works for me.

I have a strange problem with sound, or maybe It's ok, I dunno. The problem is. The first launched program that uses sound, "takes over" the sound or smth, anyway, all programs, started next, just not play sound at all. The only solution is to close all programs using sound and start one I need to "listen". When I get into sound settings menu and see the list of programs using sound, I see just one started first.

One of the things I dislike about gnome is the fact that some bugs seem to exist forever, eloquently described here fore example: [URL]. Now, that gnome 3 is there; I am wondering: should I expect that there will much work on the 2.x side? Or will more and more bugs go "fixed with gnome3"? Is this a realistic thought?

Recently upgraded to F12. K3B can't burn DVDs. Drive was working fine in Fedora 10 before the upgrade, and I've applied all updates.

Why do I keep getting .gvfs (gnome virtual file system) file appearing as corrupt in /~/usr directory, I can get rid of it by unmounting, but it re-appears later on. As stated , gvfs is extremely slow when browsing smb shares.Mount cifs runs in a third of the time gvfs takes.Often gvfs hangs up while listing.I've searched and see tons of noise about it but no real signal.Does anyone here have any info on gvfs as to why it's so slow browsing?"Name : gvfsArch : x86_64Version : 1.6.2"

I just converted to Fedora from Ubuntu and I have some questions:
1. How can I install nvidia driver? There is no 'jockey-gtk' in my fedora :3 (video card is nvidia 7200GS)
2. whats the equivalent for 'ubuntu-restricted-extras' in fedora? (ubuntu-restricted-extras is a package for A/V codecs, Java, microsoft fonts and Flash plugin)
3. I just move data from other hard disk to the fedora ones and now all the folders are locked (lock icon).
I try with:
su
chown -R fedora:fedora /home/fedora
but the permissions are denied for gvfs.

after update f12 to f13 geany stopped to work correctly on remote storage (sftp). Geany opens file correctly, but when I try to save, it saves empty file. I tried "notepad" and "gedit", they work good on f13. Geany on f12 worked correctly too.

I've been running Fedora since core 6, am on 13 now, always with KDE. I upgraded but also did fresh installs.I'm typing, in oo.org, Kile or Kate. Suddenly, without warning, the File menu is selected - mind you, without me clicking the mouse or pressing alt-F or anything. Just typing text.
Or how about this: I'm typing again. All of a sudden the direction changes from the normal left to right to the Hebrew right to left. I think I only pressed ctrl-s to save... Did I?
I can't reproduce any of it, although it seems to be related to Kate based editors and using alt-tab to switch windows. Like the alt key hangs digitally. Is it Linux, Fedora, KDE or Kate? (it can't be the computer, this has happened to me on several distinct machines) Where do I report this, to get a fix?

I installed Fedora 12 x64. Now everytime I start my Linux the .gvfs directory in my /home/Razorblade -dir is corrupted. So I have to reboot and start an Linux LiveCD, mount my home partition and delete this folder. After that I can login normally. Symptoms: I am able to login normally, start a browser, start my mail client, list the contents of subfolders of /home/Razorblade/... - everything fine. But as soon as I want to list the contents of my /home/Razorblade folder - nothing but this turning blue thing around the curser. The command line does nothing after "ll /home/Razorblade", sometimes even crashes and closes. As root I am able to do "ll /home/Razorblade" And this is what I get:

I noticed that in Fedora 15 Beta when you choose a minimal install then add ONLY the defaults of the "GNOME Desktop" package, you will get this error: gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 has a required package:
system-backgrounds-gnome
When I look for gnome-desktop3-3.0.1-2.fc15.x86_64 it is not on any installation menu list. I prefer gnome, but installed KDE and that worked. Any ideas of getting gnome to work?

I set up an NFS server on my home computer, all very simple add a line to /etc/exports, run exportfs -a, all worked well and as expected. Through no fault with Fedora, bugs in the client computer made me abort the entire experiment. (long story that you don't want to know) Undo all the config, reboot. However I'm now left with an issue that's not earth shattering. Every time I reboot my computer a /Public directory is created in my home directory, this is obviously a legacy from the original NFS setup. I've trawled through log files, looked at config files in /var/lib/nfs, but can find nothing that might be generating this /Public directory at boot time.

I just built some machines with the Intel 82574L gigabit ethernet chip, loaded Fedora 14, and discovered a problem with the e1000e driver dying after a few minutes. A little time spent perusing the web told me that the same driver had problems in Fedora 12 and Fedora 13 as well. Congrats to Fedora for the hat trick.As of kernel 2.6.35.10-74.fc14.x86_64, e1000e driver 1.0.2-k4 still had bugs.[URL]

After I installed the "GNOME Software Development" group with yum, I couldn,t log into the Gnome desktop. An error message says "Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. log out and try again", and it repeated every time I tried to log in. I created a file "gnome-shell.desktop" in the ~/.config/autostart directory, the error message no longer appears, but I get only a wallpaper which means no top bar or else.
