I don;t have physical access to the system and it is a server located in Europe. Fedora release 10 (Cambridge) is installed in it.
Many of mails sent from my mail server that are in Queue; The main reason is deffered by domains like yahoo, aol, etc.but there is one more error that i keep getting and that is Host Unknown,Below is an example from mail log,The catch is,test mail sent on the same email id sent from my personal mail from the same server i.e. url was deliveredHowever, another mail containing client information sent from customercare@mycompanysdomain ended up in queue.
There are more examples of the same, around 20 domain have the same problem.
When I open Konqueror, on Fedora 15 KDE, it opens to the default Start Page just fine. When I try to visit any other website, it gives me an Unknown Host Error. The documentation I found for KDE just said that if I get that error, it means that either the website does not exist or I am not connected to the internet, but I'm quite sure I'm connected to the internet.
My problem is setting the hostname. I cloned the machine, then normally on the clone, I would change the /etc/hostname and /etc/hosts file.
However, when I do this, upon restart, I get the message, "init hostname main process (some process number) terminated with status 1"Then, when the machine finally boots, the hostname is set to (none). Literally has braces like: user@(none):
I've tried: sudo hostname machine_name but it says can't resolve hostname (none).
I've Google'd around a lot but can't get it. It may have something to do with 10.04? I have been using 9.04, 9.10 with no problems.
eric@(none):~$ cat /etc/network/interfaces # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5). # The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback # The primary network interface code....
I've been using cyrus and sendmail together for a very very long time now. Just recently I upgraded to fedora 13 and now my virtual users can not send email from the /etc/sasldb2 passwords. I get in the /var/log/messages sendmail[31427]: unable to open Berkeley db /etc/sasldb2: Unknown error: Its weird that they can still log in and get email from imapd.conf
I even tried re-creating sasldb2 and sasldblistusers2 shows my two users 'one' that is also a local user account and the saslauthd authenticates when sending emails, but the virtual user 'two' can't send just only can log in to receive. /etc/sysconfig/saslauthd is set up as mech=pam. but I don't see how that would be relevant to this issue.
I am able to ping my hostname of sinbad only from the linux system itself. On all my windows boxes, I am not able to ping it. I can only ping the IP address.
I'm trying to make an SSH script for my place of employment. This script, I want to go out to the server hostnames we have specified (in another file) and change a users account password. We use Kerberized telnet, so if telnet root hostname fails, I want it to use ssh username hostname and use the old password (specified). If both fail, I want it to ask the user what the port should be and input the port in the ssh command.
But I'm having a issue having it try telnet root hostname and if it fails then, try to ssh in, I have no clue how to have it proceed. Is it an if statement? Here's the telnet failed message: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
I am sure this information is out there somewhere, but Googling apache access.log and hostname does not give you any good leads... so I hope someone here might be able to provide me with a quick answer...I am setting up a cluster of web servers, so I would like to name the access.log and error.log with the hostname of the individual servers to be able to distinguish one from another.
Getting this error seemingly randomly at login: There was an error starting the GNOME Settings Daemon. Some things, such as themes, sounds, or background settings may not work correctly.
The last error message was: Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1 GNOME will still try to restart the Settings Daemon next time you log in. I thought I might be logging in to fast, but it happened again when I had waited several minutes.
I install and configure the vncserver following and reading 1000papers, but all of this present the same problem; when i try to connect to my vncserver, recive this mesage: unable connect to socket: No route to host (113) The OS version is Fedora Core 14 and tigervnc-server i try different solutions including:Allow TCP connection modifing files /etc/gdm/custom.conf and /usr/share/gdm/gdm.chemas Disable SELinux removing iptables Here follow the vncserver configuration:
[code].....
The ip address of the vncserver is correct because i can do ssh on it. Where or what can i do?
I'm running Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS to host a moodle server in a school.. moodle is running OK - but I'm having problems with MySql Any mysql command generates:
I've taken a look in unknown variable 'pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/ and there is no mysqld.pid file I have followed these instructions that I found elsewhere:
If theres no mysqld.pid inside /var/run/mysqld directory, create mysqld.pid # cd /var/run/mysqld # touch mysqld.pid
[code]....
But after reboot the mysqld.pid file is missing again.. I can access mysql via phpmyadmin - but webmin fails with unknown variable 'pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid'
I have my home network up and running. I can access my index file by the ip I gave to eth0 - 192.168.0.2
I put this same ip into etc/hosts: 192.168.0.2 localhost localhost.localdomain One space separates the hostnames from the ip in /etc/hosts. The hostname command returns: localhost.localdomain
I have /etc/resolv.conf configured the right way, so I can use my isp's DNS servers. I know this because yum works and I can ping anywhere by url. The next step is to learn to access the index file by url locally on my own network.
Running samba-3.5.6-71.fc14.x86_64. Why cant I access samba share by short-hostname from win7. When I ping short-hostname, the answer is the actual ip and short-hostname.mydomain.com
sa pinging short-hostname does work, but accessing it from start-run does not! Accessing by ip or short-hostname.mydomain.com works fine. ssh by short-hostname from win7 works fine too.
When I send mail via Evoultion it does seem to send ok but still the following error message comes up: Error while sending message. Failed to append to : Unknown error Appending to local 'Sent' folder instead. Not sure what's up with that but thought I would mention it.
When I type in hostname -f it says unknown host in /etc/sysconfig/network hostname=servix.example.com in /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 servix.mydomain.com localhost localhost.localdomain 192.168.1.101 example.com www.example.com in /etc/resolv.conf search servix.mydomain.com COMCAST SNS SERVERS nameserver 192.168.1.1
In linksys router I have host as servix and domain as example.com. So why is it returning unknown host?
I can lookup DNS hostnames with dig and nslookup, but nothing else seems to be able to resolve anything. ping, telnet, Firefox, everything gets "unknown host".
I am using ubuntu 9.10 and I still cannot figure out this thing. I work behind a proxy managed by my university. Now, I cannot ping the other users on my network although they can ping me. Not to mention, I also cannot ping [URL]... It says : ping: unknown host [URL]... But I can ping the proxy server.
I am trying to set up the IRCD-IRC2 server to allow local chat between users connected to my Ubuntu server through SSH. I have port forwarding all set up to the point when I open port 6667 on the localhost it immediately comes back with":My.Irc.Com 020 * lease wait while we process your connection." Sounds promising. But it's not. It hangs for over a minute, then comes back with "ERROR :Closing Link: [unknown@127.0.0.1] (Ping timeout)" and closes the connection.
I don't want IRC2 to connect to any other servers. I just want it to facilitate chat between other users logged in through SSH as I said. Here is my ircd.conf file
this issue which has suddenly occurred on both my Desktop and my Laptop. When I try to configure an IP address to any interface I get the following error....
I get this for ethernet interfaces as well. I do not understand what is different as I was able to configure the ip address only the day before yesterday on the laptop..? The Desktop has had this issue for about 3 weeks now.
I've encountered a problem after doing a fresh install with xubuntu 10.10 (2.6.35-23-generic).some sites are blocked like [url]....if I do dig [url]....- I receive the A, CNAME records and the IP address and everything.when ping[url].... - I receive 'unknown host'.when ping <theipaddress> - I receive responses
I'm having an issue configuring eth0. I'm using ubuntu 8.10 in a virtual machine (VirtualBox). The correct adapter is being used and it has worked in the past. I've tried placing eth0 in dhcp through the GUI and bash, but always get a 169 address or 127.
I am using FC9. Can anyone tell me how to host all the manpages on a Apache Server so that a user can access it using the webbrowser like firefox. After googling I came across something called man2html but it really did not work.
i am trying to compile kernel 2.6.23 on Fedora 12 After fixing a few bugs (getline error, %dil ,etc) i was able to compile the kernel made initramfs img using dracut updated grub and then booted up the new kernel 2.6.23 but it fails to boot with following error mount: unknown filesystem type 'ext4'
I am using Gstreamer for creating one of my video streaming application. My application creates multimedia session and then stream around 200 video sessions (a very processor intensive job).In doing so, the no. of threads created is around 1500 and I have given around 1536 KB as my stack size for each of these threads. I have one Quadcore(intel Xeon) system of around 8 GB of RAM(64 bit) with RHEL 5.5(kernel - 2.6.18-92.el5). After few hours of testing I see that my overall memory(RAM) is eating up. I did checked the memory and I saw that my cache size is growing. So far so good, as I can understand that system does cache instead of leaving some RAM free. My problem comes, when I see that after almost 20-25 hours of testing, RAM is continuously being eaten up and maximum part of that is going into cache. If I leave the system for few more hours I see whole of my memory is consumed up and now my swap started getting used. If I check the cache now, I clearly see most of RAM is now in form of cache. I still didnt stop my application and allowed it run for few more hours and after sometime I see that process give segmentation fault while creating the pthread (create_pthread::unknown error 513).I also tried to observe the core file of application created in this way , but it doesnt show anything.
One thing I must mention that, in top I see almost constant values of resident memory, virtual memory and shared memory. There is no increase of memory usage here. So here I can assume that my application is not leaking the memory. I also observed that if I kill my application any time during this, the memory doesnt go into free pool. Anyone, here can give any pointer for this kind of behavior. Is it can be because of some kernel BUG which is not freeing the memory to application usage.
how i can start to host my own personal website on my own server that i just created.I was wondering if there were tips you can give me or a site you can recommend me to where i can get lessons on how to host my own site on my own server using fedora 10.
