Every other time my system comes out of hibernation, I see the blue Fedora screen loading like the computer is powering back on, and all of the sudden the screen goes blank, as if it shut itself back off. The funny thing is the power button is still on, but there is no display. Has anyone heard of this issue before. I'm not sure what to try to get it fixed

i have a gateway E-4000 desktop computer with linux mint 7 on it and it has went into hibernation mode and wont wake up. you can cut it on and it loads the linux mint page then it goes to a black screen and wont do anything else what can i do to get it to wake up
View 1 Replies View RelatedUsing 64Bit Ubuntu 10.04 on a VAIO VGN-FW373J. ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3650. This relates to Bug 451282. If I install the ATI 3D Drivers, the dimming problem goes away, but a host of other bugs crop up. After a resume from screen lock, suspend, or hibernation, the screen is reduced to graphical chaos. There are also hibernation errors. This bug is worse than the dimming bug, so I've uninstalled the 3d ATI drivers. If I can't find a workaround, I may have to look for a different Linux Distro or be content with Windows 7 on this particular laptop.
View 5 Replies View RelatedThis started happening about 1 hour ago. My computer display just went black, and the power light never changed state. I turned off it's power, and then back on (after a few seconds), and the power light came on "blue", which is what it's supposed to be, but i got nothing on the display, and hitting the menu buttons did not show a menu for the display, or any kind of response. i rebooted a couple of times, to no avail.
I thought my new display just crapped out, so i took it to another computer (windows xp laptop) and plugged in the vga cable (my server uses DVI), and it was fine. I took it to another computer (windows 7) with a DVI cable, and it was fine. I brought it back to my desktop/server, and plugged it back in, and it was fine again. Menu buttons and all.
Then, a few minutes later, it went out again. I turned the power for it off for a few minutes, then back on, and it came on with weird scanlines of various colors... then went back to black.
I played with unplugging the dvi cable in the back of the monitor/display, and wiggling it, and then at the computer connection, and at some point it came back on, for no obvious reason (i think i already stopped playing with it).
xorg.log was uneventful, but i can post it, if need be.
Dmesg shows this (the very last line of the NEXT post was the only one of any interest; but googling it returned no scenarious involving display crashes):

Can anybody tell me how to display the complete hardware information (hardware profile)
of my computer system? I use Gnome.
I get all into this, I want to make sure i should be posting this here or a windows board. I have win7 and fedora 14 installed on my laptop and can boot back and forth between the two no problem. The trouble I am having though is that when I get windows to hibernate, it doesn't. It did before I installed fedora and the grub loader so that's the only thing that I can attribute it to. I've seen a bunch of threads that have addressed this problem (on windows and linux forums) but none of them have been successful for me.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem reconnecting to the internet when I put my computer in suspend or hibernate. For some reason when I put my computer in any one of these modes it disconnects from the internet, and I have no way of getting back on the internet after that. I use to have the option of "Enable Networking" on my top panel, but it seems to have disappeared for some reason. Is there any way to stay permanately connected to the internet, even when it is in hibernate mode, or could someone tell me how to get the enable networking icon back?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm coming over from Ubuntu and am experiencing the same power issue I had there, only there doesn't seem to be a setting in Gconf in Fedora like there was in Ubuntu that can fix it. You know how the system determines whether or not to hibernate based on the amount of time the battery has been unplugged? Well there's a bug in Gnome that makes it say I have only two minutes left on a full battery,
so if I ever unplug my laptop it immediately goes in to hibernation. Now in Ubuntu there was a Gconf Editor setting that could be changed so that it went by percentage, but this option seems to be gone in Fedora. I have Gconf Editor installed but I can't find the setting anywhere.
Touchpad on my laptop does not works after I resume it from hibernation/suspend. I have FC9 (sulphur) installed on my system.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI applied Power Management settings to put my computer to sleep in the hope that it would only sleep when it wasn't downloading something in Deluge. Unfortunately it would seem that it puts the computer to sleep despite Deluge being active. No biggie I thought, I'll just disable the sleep settings my setting them both back to NEVER. However, it ignores my new settings and still puts the display / computer to sleep, at the exact times I set originally!

They are very stripped down computers with minimal configuration : 1Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, 1 SD Card (and usual USB/VGA ports).
Everything runs fine out of the box with Debian 7.2

I recently install Ubuntu-studio Desktop and some other packages. And, I upgraded my System. But since then, the Grub has started to display (I have only 9.10 installed, using the entire Disk). Also, unless I select the entry, Grub does not automatically start. The startup takes nearly 1.5 minutes. And, the Login screen, after the installation of Ubuntu Studio GDM, is much slower. I removed the Ubuntu-studio GDM package, still it takes about 20 seconds to allow me to enter Username and password. Any idea?

I just downloaded Open SuSE Linux 11.4 and installing it on a Vaio 2.8ghz Computer. While loading everything went well, but when I loged backon my Monitor Flashes about every 20 seconds, just for about 3 seconds. I am using a GForce 2200 Video card.What I need to know is their anyone who can tell me why this is happeining and how to fix it. I have used Open SuSE 10.3 on another machine and have never had this problem.

The computer has a Nvidia GeForce GT 555M with Optimus graphics card I need to make sure I have not installed the restricted drivers. The forum recommends to use this program called Bumblebee but I have had some issues with that in the past. Is there somehow I can setup my dual display while staying on Ubuntu 10.04 and not installing Bumblebee? I have researched into setting up dual display walkthroughs before but they all concentrate on nvidia or ATI configurations.
I did not have any /etc/X11/xorg.conf, so I read on these forums that system-config-display would create one for me. I ran system-config-display and it created an xorg.conf. But now my display is all messed up!! So, I deleted the xorg.conf and nothing changed. Why on earth would the display still be messed up if I deleted the file that was causing it?? Does system-config-display change somethign else?

suspend has always worked fine with 11.04 and now it stopped working a few days ago. How can I figure out what is going on? The display turns off but the computer never turns off and the only way to bring it back is to hold the power button down and then start it back up.
View 5 Replies View RelatedA friend of mine recently broke his laptop's screen. He knew I wanted to setup a small personal server so he gave it to me. I used an old monitor and wiped the HDD and installed Ubuntu. At the end I chose to upgrade the freshly installed OS. When I rebooted the computer after upgrading I couldn't get any images on the monitor. I tried to unplug/plug it several times but it doesn't work. I keep getting the "No signal" message on the screen.
Is there a way for me to somehow force the computer to use the secondary display? And if not is it possible to install and configure all the packages to run a VNC server on it without seeing anything?
