The error is below;
apic is getting timing mode sailed. IO apic resources couldn't be allocated
I fed the kernel commands, noapic , noioapic but that didn't work .
i am trying to install fedora 11 kde on my desktop, but after restarting computer, then appears error message "IO APIC resources couldnt be allocated, buffer I/O error on device sr0" i am not sure what to do next?

When trying to boot from the Live CD it goes to the first fedora boot screen where it counts down from 10 then tries to boot.
It then says "IO Apic resources could not be allocated" then moves onto a fedora loading bar which completes... but the next screen is completely black, I've tried letting it stay there for 10 or so minutes but nothing happens.
I am in a situation to boot fedora 15 live cd in to command line mode, not graphical mode, for some testing purpose. how to change argument during booting mode
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I attempt to boot from the new Fedora 10 Live CD, it comes up with the initial screen, then gives me an error message saying something like, "Error with intranfs/init," and then it drops to bash, which I do not know how to use. I have P4 HT @3 GHZ., 2GB of RAM, a 400GB primary HD split between Windows XP and Mythbuntu 8.10 (dual boot), a 200 MB secondary HD (the primary is SATA, the other IDE), etc. I wanted to try the Live CD before deciding whether to change over to Fedora. I burned the ISO image of the Live CD to a CD-RW myself.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have just installed fedora12 from the Live CD couldn't get my mobile broadband to work on the Live CD, thought I would go ahead and install anyway and hoped for more success from the installation.
But nothing seems to work. I have tried just plugging it in and waiting for it to be registered, I have tried various manual set ups including enabling point to point encryption in the VPN manager and nothing seems to work at all.
The device is a Huawei K3520 USB modem.
Am I just doing something really stupid or is there some obscure method to get this working.
This is the only internet connection which i have available at the moment so anything I download will have to be done through Windows and copied across, i.e. I can't use YUM.

my system crashed and so i tried booting from a live usb pen drive. but i get the following error messages (see picture). does this mean that my hard drive is curruped? what can i do? i alreadys tried booting from different live medias, but i cant get anything to run (gparted and system recovery live).

This probably means that the CD-ROM was not put in the drive. If so you can insert it and try again

I don't have an installation cd-rom! I put the .iso file onto a memory stick, inserted it into my old computer (which i will turn into a server later) , restarted it and got past the first two slides and got this error? Do I have to put the iso on a cd-rom?
i have laptop Toshiba Satellite A500 with Intel i5 processor and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD , i am having this problem when booting from any live CD or USB when i choose "run from USB or Live CD " or even "install Ubuntu..." i got large list of error lines (as i think) and after that , no response until i manually switch laptop off. attached two photos and a small video that i could took as it is very quick .
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty) on my home PC. I am using the same DVD that i used on my work PC, thus the DVD is not defective. My home PC has the following specs:
Processor: Core 2 Quad, 2.3Ghz
Motherboard: Intel DP43TF
Ram: 2GB
Video: NVidia GeForce 9400GT (1Gig)
When I boot using the Live CD, after i select the "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu" options I get a black screen with the following message:

I am still new to Linux and am not sure how to proceed from this point on.
Personally I have an intel PC which runs Ubuntu 8.04 smoothly. I tried booting the live-cd from an AMD athlon and encounterred the above mentioned message as an error after loading. I went into the bios and disabled the floppy drive as a third booting option as the machine does not have one in it but I still encounter the same problem. I can insert the floppy drive but doubt that would work?

(this statement gets repeated like four times with different logical block id.
SQUASHFS error: squashfs_read_data failed to read block 0x5bb337b9
SQUASHFS error: unable to read is index table.
It is not the first time i install operating systems on virtual box though it is the first time i receive such an error with backtrack.
I'm getting the following error when booting from the 10.04 live CD: Installation Failed. The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.
I checked the CD for defects, and even tried re-downloading/burning to a new disc, but got the same problem. I tried booting in to the LIVE session then installing from the desktop but I still got the same error. I have had 9.10 running on here fine, and after running a Kubuntu 9.10 disc I had to hand to check it would work, that installed fine (hence the auto-partitions you will see in my info dump below). Here is some information about my system, let me know if I've missed anything. I've also included a copy of the syslog below.

I put the CD in and boot the machine. The initial Ubuntu screen comes up ("Ubuntu" with the line of dots below it) for a few seconds, and then it disappears and I see this text:

Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs
At that point it hangs and will proceed no further. I've tried this with the latest Mythbuntu Live CD and the latest Ubuntu Desktop Edition Live CD. Both were x64 versions.

Sometimes instead of "cpio: open" it was "cpio: rename". There were a total of 18 such errors. These were listed as failures in the summary at the end. I then did another "yum update" and it redid 17 of the 18 successfully. It did not redo f-spot. Here's a snippet of the summary at the end of the first update:

I am in the process of re-DL-ing the ISO as the checksums didn't match.
Mind you, that was with a shell extension in Win-Lose. Who knows.
Anyway:
I have the ISO (that I had previously) on a USB courtesy of UNetBootIn. All appears well until, quite quickly, I receive an error after the loading process which goes something like:

At least one of them said "will reboot in 120 secs". Saves me the trouble!
This is my first attempt at using Fedora (the only other distro i've used is Ubuntu), and I'm having trouble booting from a USB device created using the LiveUSB Creator utility, containing the Fedora-14-i686-Live-Desktop disc image. I am trying to create a dual-boot system, and currently have Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit installed.
Can somebody tell me how to disable apic in the grub? I've already edited the grub text file and added "noapic" in the kernel line. Now is there something similar to "sudo update-grub" that I have to run (I ask because it's not saving when I reboot)? I know in ubuntu you have to run that command in order for the changes to the text file to take place in the grub. Is there a command similar to that for Fedora?

I'm playing with Fedora 12 and can't get GRUB to work. To boot, I've been using GRUB4DOS. While that works fine, I'd like to figure out what's wrong with regular GRUB 0.97. After the initial installation, GRUB came up on reboot, but it was broken -- it couldn't read the config file apparently, and no commands would work correctly. So I attempted to reinstall grub via the grub prompt. No matter what I do, or which hard disk I install GRUB on, I get "Error 18". I tried using the "grub-install" command as well as the prompt, and that did the same thing.
My system here is an ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO mo/bo. I've got four hard drives. Two 1TB SATA drives and a couple of PATA drives (300 and 500GB) on a Si608 controller card. Using the BIOS "BBS" boot menu, I can boot NTLDR and BOOTMGR off active partitions on any of the drives (with proper Boot.ini modifications to handle the change in drive order). GRUB4DOS works as well, and will boot Fedora 12 correctly off any of them (with proper menu.lst ministrations). But GRUB 0.97 that comes with Fedora just refuses to do anything other than say "Error 18".

I get "Boot error" when booting using live USB.
There are only two words(please let me know if i can get any other logs).
Issue is not reproducible on other env(hp625 and other desktop).
I wrote a simple code using Open Inventor(OpenGL) classes to print a Sphere in a .png file.I tested it on Windows and it worked well.But when I run it on Fedora 10, I got the following error with no output .png file:

I switched back to Fedora after a long time and wow a lot of things have changed! Fedora 12 is looking amazing and the best part is I could install it on my USB so easily. And then I found I couldnt open any PDF files on Fedora - I tried installing AdobeReader, xpdf and openoffice. All of them are just throwing some file format errors.... <I cant push a screenshot now since i removed the packages>
Initally i thought it might be some version conflict but it turned out I couldnt open any pdf's including docs from 5 years back to docs with embedded media content. I know I havent put any info here. I am looking for a little info on what is needed to get Acrobat/Xpdf working in Fedora 12... And I couldn't get any errors logged so I'd like a little help there if I need to share some debug messages...

I was able to copy the iso file and tried the installation however I stubbled upon the same problem I had when I tried installing Fedora 11. The message I received was "(1) (0.048001) MP-BIOS bug:8254 timer not connected to IO-APIC (2) (0.064001) Kernel panic-not syncing:IO-APIC + timer doesn't work Book with apic debug and send a report. Then try booting with the 'no apic-option'.

The problem I'm having is that when I go to manually repartition the hard drive with Disk Druid I get this error: Could not allocate requested partitions: Partitioninf Failed: Could not allocate partitions as primary partitions. I can't view the contents of the hard drive to delete stuff.

I had just finished setting everything up & everything was working fine so I kind of freaked out when I typed `javac hw.java`, and I received a weird error. I can't remember it exactly but from that point, I was not able to use any java-related command anymore. `javac`, `jar`, `java`.... I kept getting the same error. Something like "java runtine environement error", but it may not be that exactly. It kept creating .log files in my /home/maden/ folder, but as my topic title says, I can't reach the boot screen anymore ! I have no idea if the two problems are related but I think they are. When I got home, I restarted my ASUS eeepc 1005h and reached the KDE login screen anymore! I turn on my computer, it goes to the GRUB loader, I select fedora core 11... I then see the fedora fedora logo slowling filling up, as usual, and when the login screen is supposed to pop up, it does not. It just remains black. So now, I can't do ANYTHING, can't even login as failsafe or nothing, my data seems unreachable!
