Fedora :: Booting From Fedora 10 Live CD / "Error With Intranfs/init"?

Dec 7, 2008

When I attempt to boot from the new Fedora 10 Live CD, it comes up with the initial screen, then gives me an error message saying something like, "Error with intranfs/init," and then it drops to bash, which I do not know how to use. I have P4 HT @3 GHZ., 2GB of RAM, a 400GB primary HD split between Windows XP and Mythbuntu 8.10 (dual boot), a 200 MB secondary HD (the primary is SATA, the other IDE), etc. I wanted to try the Live CD before deciding whether to change over to Fedora. I burned the ISO image of the Live CD to a CD-RW myself.

This is my first attempt at using Fedora (the only other distro i've used is Ubuntu), and I'm having trouble booting from a USB device created using the LiveUSB Creator utility, containing the Fedora-14-i686-Live-Desktop disc image. After selecting my USB device from the startup menu, I see a black screen with the following information:

Fedora :: Input/output Error When Copying Files To Fedora Live CD?

Dec 21, 2010

I booted my Fedora 13 live CD on my Dell server, and configured networking and SSHd. On my desktop I logged into the live cd and started copying over a big file (1.5 GB) (i.e. copying from the desktop computer to the server). After copying about half the fil, the download fails with an error message about the filesystem being read-only.I've seen this exact same behavior on both i386 and x86_64 of the same live CD, but don't know why it's happening. I've also had the same issue when copying small files. In /var/log/messages these messages are repeated many times:

Ubuntu Installation :: Failed - Unrecoverable Error When Booting From The 10.04 Live CD - 10.04

I'm getting the following error when booting from the 10.04 live CD: Installation Failed. The installer encountered an unrecoverable error. A desktop session will now be run so that you may investigate the problem or try installing again.

I checked the CD for defects, and even tried re-downloading/burning to a new disc, but got the same problem. I tried booting in to the LIVE session then installing from the desktop but I still got the same error. I have had 9.10 running on here fine, and after running a Kubuntu 9.10 disc I had to hand to check it would work, that installed fine (hence the auto-partitions you will see in my info dump below). Here is some information about my system, let me know if I've missed anything. I've also included a copy of the syslog below.

Plus an old case and PSU and an old 18gb IDE drive, and an old CD-RW drive

I put the CD in and boot the machine. The initial Ubuntu screen comes up ("Ubuntu" with the line of dots below it) for a few seconds, and then it disappears and I see this text:

At that point it hangs and will proceed no further. I've tried this with the latest Mythbuntu Live CD and the latest Ubuntu Desktop Edition Live CD. Both were x64 versions.

Ubuntu :: Error - No Init Found - Try Passing Init=bootarg

Jan 20, 2010

Ubuntu 9.10 will not boot! System froze this morning, I restarted and it is now failing to boot. Starts loading grub and I get this message:

mount: mounting /dev/disk/by-uuid/04aa3697-7bc0-45b5-b86a-77a1e6534bd5 on /root failed: invalid argument
mount: mounting /sys on /root/sys failed: no such file or directory
mount: mounting /dev on /root/sys failed: no such file or directory

I booted with 9.04 LiveCD discovered the drive could not be mounted-ran fsck -ln and it told me the drive has no valid partition table. I have had intermittent problems mounting flash drives before this, so I'm kind of worried it might be a hardware issue. Also have files on that drive I would rather not lose, so reinstalling is hopefully a last resort.

Red Hat / Fedora :: 12 - Halted On Booting With An Error ?

I have Fedora12 with dual boot WinXP on my laptop. Everything was working fine but suddenly one day I booted up my system and selected Fedora from boot menu , an error screen came - "[...]ERROR: tried to remove a fb that we didn't own Boot has failed, sleeping forever"

I don't know why It's happening ? The last thing I did on Fedora was to install some packages to start Wi fi and It was working fine from last 2 months, then why suddenly this bug ?

I googled about it but most of the cases are of Live CDs or USBs but in my case I had a whole different space assigned in my hdd for Fedora and everything was supercool.

Does it mean I have to do a fresh install of fedora12 again ?

Fedora Installation :: UUID Error While Booting

Apr 3, 2009

I have 2 CPUs Which are Intel and AMD based. I used F9 before and didnt have any issues while I removed the hdd that I'd installed F9 on INTEL based and then put my hdd on my AMD based cpu. Well it booted and ran perfectly no issues came up.And then I've done the upgrade to F10 (clean install on INTEL). I do the same case above. But I got error msgs it said that the UUID cannot be found (I was using label on F9 fstab and worked fine).

I put back my hdd to intel based cpu and then try to edit my fstab and menu.lst (change UUID to LABEL). WOW I thought by changing UUID from fstab and menu.lst would resolve my problem but it doesnt solve anything. My devices (sda1/2/3, /boot, and /home) cannot be reconized.Well do you guys know how to change UUID to LABEL? and what exactly my problem?

Red Hat / Fedora :: Error 8: Kernel Must Be Loaded Before Booting

Nov 16, 2010

I'm relatively new to Linux, and have broken many more things than I have fixed.. I guess that's the learning process eh? So here's my problem: I've been experimenting with the mount command, and have mounted my local file system (sda1) to a directory (/mnt/test). I was attempting to mount an external hard drive, and sda1 clearly was not the correct drive (I did eventually discover where the external was located, however sda1 remains tied to that directory). I rebooted my system, and now the Grub command prompt loads. When I type "boot" I'm presented with "Error 8: Kernel must be loaded before booting". I'm assuming this is because I mounted my local file system, but I could be wrong. Does anyone have any ideas how I could remedy this?

Mind you, that was with a shell extension in Win-Lose. Who knows.

Anyway:

I have the ISO (that I had previously) on a USB courtesy of UNetBootIn. All appears well until, quite quickly, I receive an error after the loading process which goes something like:

Code:
Error: cannot find disk at [hash-code - looks like 0ace5f etc etc, is about 12 char's in length.]Something very similar (but not same error I think) happened when I tried to do the same with my OpenSolaris or Fedora install. I.e., gets as far as the very beginning of the loader and then: bork.

At least one of them said "will reboot in 120 secs". Saves me the trouble!

Fedora Installation :: Error: Idle With IF=0" But Everything Ended Up Booting Normal

Jun 29, 2010

I just read through the Lifehacker article on how to create a Linux boot from USB and thought it would be a good idea for when I want to use a light system on my netbook. Anyways, I encountered some problems when trying to boot the first time on my netbook. I got an error before it was loading up "Error: idle with IF=0" but everything ended up booting normal; however, I couldn't find my wireless connection.

Well, then I decided to boot up my other laptop with it and then was going to install the OS to my external hard drive; however, it never did find any storage devices (after I let it sit and load for about 10 minutes). My last question/issue is wondering if I can install it to my main hard drive and boot either WIndows XP/7 or Fedora instead of just one or the other. FYI, I was running the boot from a 4gb USB drive.
