Jan 18, 2010Recently jumped from Ubuntu to Fedora 12 over the weekend, has been quite the bumpy ride. Though fun of course. But I'm having trouble coming to a solution for this problem, that started today. When signing into both Empathy or Pidgin (only with msn account) they both just hang on the white screen inactive... I say "inactive" the program hasn't frozen I just cannot be signed in. Also, in Pidgin at the bottom, next to where it shows your status, it has;
"Available - Waiting for network connection"

Aug 3, 2010This is been going on all day. No MSN in Pidgin, and MSN on and off in Empathy. As always, I suspect Microsoft has something to do with this and wish I didn't need to use MSN. On the other hand, a laptop sitting next to me with Ubuntu connects with no problem.

Oct 25, 2010On the 19/20th October (2010) MS appear to have changed something in their MSN servers and Empathy on F13 (v2.30.3) no longer connects. Instead you get a Red bar saying there is an error, bu no other real info apart from '500' network errors (not even in the logs).Discussion on the Ubuntu lists has confirmed + identified the culprit and a workaround has been posted. Cludos to 'Kakaroto' and 'Dennis Tring' on that list!

Jun 2, 2010I've installed Fedora 13 and would like to find a way to import my pidgin accounts, data, and logs into empathy. The Empathy FAQ doesn't mention this, there's nothing in the Empathy help about it, and I've gone through every menu looking for anything like an "import" option and come up empty. I tried asking on irc.gimp.org#empathy but got no response there. I'm guessing that means there's no built-in upgrade path. But maybe somebody has a script that will do it? Or worst case, maybe someone could point me to instructions on how to manually convert the data?

Jun 24, 2010i have a virus in my mp3 that i don't know how to get rid of. the virus is called 'autorun.inf'. even though it doesn't affect Linux (i think) when i mount the mp3, the icon appears as if it was an empty folder. it use to let me delete/copy files into the mp3 but now it doesn't anymore. i cant delete the autorun.inf file or any file!
Ive had this problem before on the same mp3 and what i did was format the mp3 in windows but the thing keeps coming again and again . ive seen a couple 'windows solutions' for this but i dont have windows anymore so...

What I'm looking for it's something to auto-mount the cd in the fluxbox GUI when it's inserted just like in Gnome or Kde.

May 29, 2011I'm trying to install F15 for a friend, (works great for me btw) and after getting to the desktop and sometimes during install set up, it just keeps logging off by itself and then back to the desktop. This also happened on my computer a couple of times, but I managed to get it installed.Is this a known bug? Is there anything that can be done about it? Also, is there a fedora iso that has all current updates built in? He really wants F15, but we are stuck right now. and is there an "alternate" cd for fedora without gui install?
