I downloaded some themes from [URL] after following some of the on-line instructions I still don't see the themes from within Empathy. I suspect I have the files in the wrong directory. What is the right directory to put the /*.AdiumMessageStyle folders?

Feb 12, 2010i am trying to video chat with my logitech C200 webcam but it does not work with skype or empathy. Do i need to download special drivers?. In skype i can't even test the camera. and with empathy the webcam icon and the video call option are grayed out. I downloaded "guvcview" from the software center and it works like a charm, i can capture video and take pictures, so i don't really understand why skype and emphaty dont work.

Jan 18, 2010Recently jumped from Ubuntu to Fedora 12 over the weekend, has been quite the bumpy ride. Though fun of course. But I'm having trouble coming to a solution for this problem, that started today. When signing into both Empathy or Pidgin (only with msn account) they both just hang on the white screen inactive... I say "inactive" the program hasn't frozen I just cannot be signed in. Also, in Pidgin at the bottom, next to where it shows your status, it has;
"Available - Waiting for network connection"

Aug 3, 2010This is been going on all day. No MSN in Pidgin, and MSN on and off in Empathy. As always, I suspect Microsoft has something to do with this and wish I didn't need to use MSN. On the other hand, a laptop sitting next to me with Ubuntu connects with no problem.

Oct 25, 2010On the 19/20th October (2010) MS appear to have changed something in their MSN servers and Empathy on F13 (v2.30.3) no longer connects. Instead you get a Red bar saying there is an error, bu no other real info apart from '500' network errors (not even in the logs).Discussion on the Ubuntu lists has confirmed + identified the culprit and a workaround has been posted. Cludos to 'Kakaroto' and 'Dennis Tring' on that list!

Jun 2, 2010I've installed Fedora 13 and would like to find a way to import my pidgin accounts, data, and logs into empathy. The Empathy FAQ doesn't mention this, there's nothing in the Empathy help about it, and I've gone through every menu looking for anything like an "import" option and come up empty. I tried asking on irc.gimp.org#empathy but got no response there. I'm guessing that means there's no built-in upgrade path. But maybe somebody has a script that will do it? Or worst case, maybe someone could point me to instructions on how to manually convert the data?

Nov 20, 2009Every time I set my status in empathy to "invisible" it changes it to "busy". If i click on invisible once it changes it to invisible, if I click on it a second time it will change it to invisible. Is there a way to make empathy make my status invisible or is empathy not capable of it?

May 29, 2011What used to work flawlessly in F14 now does not work in F15. I have done a fresh installation of F15 and all seemed to go well other than a few minor tweaks. In F14 I had an /etc/fstab file that worked well but in F15 does not work. I have 3 external USB drives, mybook, black & StoreIt. With F14 my fstab worked very well and booted regardless of weather or not any particular drive was connected at any given time. Typically I have the mybook and black connected at home and the StoreIt connected at work, but regardless it would boot and work without any problems.

Ubuntu :: Messages Are Not Sent On MSN By Empathy?

Sometimes Empathy is not sending my messages to my contacts on MSN. There are no warning messages of this, so it's really annoying. I have to disconnect and reconnect to MSN to resolve the issue. After the bug occurs no message is sent to that contact, but I can communicate with others.
In my case I see no correlation between the length of the message and the bug occurring, it seems to appear randomly.
I am using Empathy 2.30.0.1 on Ubunutu 10.04 RC

May 5, 2010i've never been able to use empathy.for some reason, i just can't add accounts.i've messed with it a lot in karmic, but gave up. running lucid now and added a profile for my wife. interestingly, she has no problems using empathy so i think there must be something going on with my settings.i've searched and searched and removed everything i could find that was empathy-related, but no luck.
