I am trying to setup empathy to use yahoo im. I have searched and searched and apparently I cannot find a resolution. Does this work for anyone? Is there another IM option that will? I can connect to msn without error, but for yahoo account, i just get a network error.

View 2 Replies View Relatedi recently lost access to yahoo IM on 2 different computers (one 32-bit and one 64-bit) on both empathy and pidgin. it happened at around the same time on 2 separate machines on 2 separate networks. both gmail and msn will connect using both clients - it's only yahoo that will not connect and i've tried 2 different yahoo accounts, too...
i can still log into yahoo IM on a windows virtual machine and through the web messenger - just not using the ubuntu clients.
could there have been a recent update that may have caused this? i've also heard that yahoo in the past has changed around servers and put in measures to limit usages strictly to yahoo clients.
Yahoo account not working in Empathy it says network error. I have attached the snapshot of my configuration settings. How to get it work..?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAs of today I am unable to connect to Yahoo messenger in either Empathy or Pidgin. Empathy gives its generic "network error" and Pidgin says the account is disabled, and fails to connect when I click "re-enable." I've checked the obvious things such as username and password. I was able to connect through the web messenger so my credentials are good. Also tried swapping the server with the IP address and changing the character encoding as recommended here.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI get error when I try to login my yahoo account. It seems okay with Gtalk, I havent checked the others because I use yahoo for most of time. It blows out network error no matter how i try: killall tempathy-butterfly (it's probably not running on my system, I've tried with killall telepathy-haze,salut which are running and having relative with telepathy ), edit host file, change the server name by adding cn before it. But it's still no go up to now.
My alternatives are meebo or wine and trillian, worked, but is there any chance for Empathy or Pidgin (it gives me error: connection refused)? It's just happened for 3-4 days recently, i dont know whether my network has configured right or not. Hope someone give me a hand which should embarrass me to continue living in linux bug world.
I am using a wired connection ( ethernet cable ) and everything works just fine except Empathy.

The steps I took were the simplest ones: Edit > Accounts Add...Protocol: IRC Network: FreeNode Nickname: pedrosanta Real Name: Pedro Santa Start session This is very, very strange. I am running in a problem that i have put a postfix regex which needs to discard emails having no subjects, while it works fine for gmail,hotmail and other domains but it does not work for [URL] ultimate reason behind this is because yahoo does not send subject line if subject is not included in email.

I am now very confused as to why i cant login on any secured sites since my firewall is setup to masquerade technique in iptables. Of course i can browse normally to any normal http connection. I attached my firewall script.
I setup squid on the same box and configured browser to use that proxy. All is well, i can browse and login both normal and secured sites (ie yahoo mail)
I have been trying to figure out how to keep my company's email from being treated as junk mail by Hotmail, Yahoo & Gmail for over a year.
When I acquired the company its email was hosted by sina.com as its in China. It was being run under a windows server and had issues sending & receiving.
I moved it to a linux server system in Hong Kong that has a US co-host site in Chicago area thinking its got to better than whats running in China.
We are still having problems sending emails to hotmail, yahoo and gmail.
My entire company is about ready to redmond our company email and use their personal webmail accounts.
I just downloaded and installed Ubuntu a few days ago (on my Windows Vista Laptop), played around with it, did some trouble shooting (got my wifi card working!)... and am generally enjoying it.However, I am having issues loading my Yahoo Mail. I am using the newest version of Opera (which I also run on windows), but have tried Firefox as well. I am having absolutely no issues with Yahoo mail when I use Windows (in Opera, firefox, chrome, and IE), but can not get it to load at all with Ubuntu. Basically I can get to the Yahoo home page no problem, and can access any of the links etc., except for Mail. When I click it, I just get an error page (as if there was no Internet connection). I have not had problems with any other sites.I'm thinking its some kind of scripting/application conflict, but like I said this whole Linux thing is brand new to me. Have only ever really used Windows in the past.I'm hoping to get these minor issues hashed out, and eventually just drop Windows out of my reality.

I recently wanted to build Empathy 2.31 from a source tarball (after having installed all the dependencies listed on the Empathy website).I got the following error while launching ./autogen.sh:

Trying to set up my Yahoo account on KMail. After entering all the correct (as far as I know) server settings, ports, etc. and trying to check my mail from KMail, I get the following message.
