Jun 24, 2010i have a virus in my mp3 that i don't know how to get rid of. the virus is called 'autorun.inf'. even though it doesn't affect Linux (i think) when i mount the mp3, the icon appears as if it was an empty folder. it use to let me delete/copy files into the mp3 but now it doesn't anymore. i cant delete the autorun.inf file or any file!
Ive had this problem before on the same mp3 and what i did was format the mp3 in windows but the thing keeps coming again and again . ive seen a couple 'windows solutions' for this but i dont have windows anymore so...

Aug 31, 2010I remember reading something a while back that theres a folder that you can just plonk a bash script into and it will run on login but cant find anything about it now. I have found the command $update-rc.d <filename> but scripts added this way have to lsbInit compliant and i havent got a clue where to start with that I also cant just add it to the startup applications list because for some stupid reason following the kernel update a few weeks back (this used to work fine) suddenly has no effect. Heres the script incase anyone wants extra points for telling me why all of a sudden it doesnt work. (ive also made the same script run as a python3 program to no effect.)

I have the Windows XP SP2 Installation CD but my OS (Intrepid Ibex) won't allow me to autorun the CD and proceed to installation.
Now having hunted around the net little, it seems the answer is System->Preferences->Removable Drives and Media. Problem is, I don't have a Removable Drives and Media option on this menu. Is there a workaround for this? E.g., is there a way of using the Terminal to enable autorun, or is there another way I can do this?As I'm pretty new to this thing, feel free to use short words and detailed explanations.

Apr 1, 2011I just installed Ubuntu on my brand new system that I built. I put in my cd for my HD 5770 video card, and an icon shows up on my screen XFX_VGA_V9.8C text under it.
However when I try to access it in anyway, I try to open with autorun prompt, I get a message "This medium contains software intended to be automatically started. would you like to run it?"
I click on run and get "Error autorunning software, cannot find the autorun program."
Is there anyway that I can run this disk. It's important for setup. I cant copy the disk to the desktop, I get errors.
