Jun 27, 2011Ok, using gnome3 in F15. I'm going in to add my printer. I hit "network" and it searches for about 20-30 seconds and then stops. It's not picking it up.

Jun 2, 2010I have Canon MX860 Multifunction USB/Wireless printer that I am trying to add in Fedora 13. Looking under Desktop > Computer via USB connection, the printer is detected as some hardware device I can mount and unmount. However, when I am trying to add this printer via System > Administration > Printing, the printer is not detected at all nor can I add. FYI, this printer works fine in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. How I can make this printer working in Fedora 13?

Oct 11, 2009I try to print with an HP 14000 PSC on Fedora 11. The printer is detected, send a document, it goes on the queue but does not get printed. The status is stopped. The printer status stay on idle with /usb/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed. I try to restart the printer, unplugged reboot; nothing. I used the same printer on F10 was working fine.

I have tried downloading the driver iwlwifi-5000-ucode-8.24.2.12.tgz from URL...Downloads and copied it to folder /lib/firmware and rebooted the machine. But still it is not detected by the system. Is there any solution to this problem .

Sep 7, 2010I've recently salvaged a computer I found gathering dust in the basement and decided I'll have it running on Fedora (I have a summer studentship coming up that needs Linux use so I thought I'd best start learning!). Following a clean install, Fedora can see the wireless network just fine. I try to connect and nothing happens. Half of the time it will ask for the PSK (yes, I promise I'm entering it correctly) and the other half of the time it will just stop. When it does ask for the PSK I enter it (correctly) and it will ask me again... and again.

Jan 13, 2011I have installed Fedora 14 on my new laptop Thinkpad T410 but the wireless card is not detected.
I tried to install the drivers but got error. How to install the driver.

I have installed 10.04LTS (clean install) and then added kubuntu-desktop using Synaptic.My USB printer (EPSON DX4050) is now not detected when I book into GNOME or KDE session, but IS detected if I boot using a LiveCD.

I've triple check the cables and powered down restated the computer about 10 time with the printer on and it's not showing up.

May 19, 2009I need to direction here: my laptop (F10 gnome) is cat5 dhcp connected to a dlink 524 router with IP 192.168.150.1. This in turn is connected to an arris modem with ip 216... Local IP is 192.168.100.1 (default). It works, connects to internet, supplies dhcp address to dlink. All this is upstairs in my ham room upstairs. My wifes laptop downstairs usually connects wirelessly to the dlink, and hence to the arris. Also works to the internet. There is a linksys (ddwrt software) running as a wireless repeater also located downstair, with box ip 192.168.1.1.
It is "joined" to the dlink router via wireless, hence it function, wireless repeater. It works, I have used it like this many time. However, I cannot seem to get a connection to the Brother printer (which has a print server function). It is connected to the linksys repeater via a lan cable. Gets an ip via dhcp. I think it should work, since my wife can connect to the linksys repeater, either wireless or wired, and surf the internet thru the dlink router via the repeater-dlink wireless repeater link. I must be missing something obscure (to me, at least).

Aug 27, 2009I downloaded HPLIP, and I began the install process. After 'make', it prompted me to restart. Thinking that would be good, I restarted. When I logged back in I tried to print a document, and it didn't print. I don't know what to do. I tried to follow the directions at http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web...all/index.html, and they weren't very good. How can I tell if everything is installed for the printer? Once it is installed, how do I configure it and set it up? It is a wireless printer.

Printer : HP C4580 Photosmart wireless (hplip-3.9.8)
Ethernet : Broadcom Corporation BCM4401-B0100Base-TX (b44.ko / eth0)
External Modem : Siemens CL-110 ADSL
OS : Fedora 6+11 (currently on fc6)
The external modem is connected via the laptop ethernet and provides the internet connection.
The printer is connected via wireless adhoc to the laptop's IPW3945 wireless card. I use firestarter as firewall. When firestarter is disabled everything works fine. If enabled it blocks my printer. I have tried to open every possible port via firestarter (according to several other threads) with no luck. My printer is set (under system-config-printer) as :

Oct 20, 2009I have Fedora 11 and am trying to install Brother HL-2170W Wireless laser printer. I installed it and used CPUS but cannot print. SELinux is enabled. On Brothers site there is an FAQ about SELinux and CUPS. [URL] I followed these instructions but still cannot print. Jobs get queued. Under Printer properties -> Policies, there is an Enabled checked. For some reason when I check this Enabled box and click Apply, the changes do not take effect. Then Enabled checkbox gets uncheck again.
I cannot even print a test page as its status shows Pending.

Oct 1, 2010I have recently installed Fedora 13 dual booted with windows 7. Everything on both OS's works fine with the exception of Linux printing. I am using a Netgear WGPS606 print server. (it works fine on Windows 7). I have, from Linux pinged the server (192.168.1.200) and have gotten a response for each string sent but following the usual procedure [System-Administration-Printing then Add (a printer)- Expand Network Printer etc.] The response is that there is no printer found at that address. (the firewall was disabled).

Jun 21, 2011I'm running OpenSuse 11.4 and trying to connect a brand-new Xerox Phaser 6010 printer through USB.
I started by trying Yast>Hardware>Printer>Add, but no printer was detected. I tried "Detect More", but still no printer was detected.
The USB cable is connected, the printer is turned on, and /dev/usb/lp0 exists. There is only one printer on my system, so this must by my printer device; indeed, it disappears when I turn off the printer. Also, the printer works nicely under Windows, so there is no hardware problem with the printer itself.
I tried removing and reinserting the usblp module (using `rmmod usblp; insmod usblp`), but still no printer. Cups does not seem to find it.
I also tried explicitly specifying a URI for the printer using ConnectionWizard>SpecifyArbitraryDeviceURI usb:/dev/usb/lp1, selected the Xerox Phaser 6010 driver (which is present in the list) and tried to print a test page, but nothing happens.
What other options are there to figure out what is wrong and get this printer to work under OpenSuse?

Jul 16, 2010I have just installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my AMD 64 bit desktop. I have a usb connection for my Brother MFC 8860DN printer. I used the synaptic package manager to install the printer drivers ubuntu already had in their repository for my printer model. When I connect my printer to the computer Ubuntu recognizes the model, but cannot detect the printer drivers I have already installed. The printer drivers were installed to /usr where a Brother folder was created. the Cupswrapper and lpd files are in the Brother folder. How can I get the system to detect its own files so I can get the printer to work?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Card Dormant Until Wired Connection Detected?
Feb 2, 2011I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant
