Looking under Desktop > Computer via USB connection, the printer is detected as some hardware device I can mount and unmount. However, when I am trying to add this printer via System > Administration > Printing, the printer is not detected at all nor can I add. FYI, this printer works fine in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. How I can make this printer working in Fedora 13?

Aug 21, 2010I just installed 10.04 on my neighbors computer. They have an HP LaserJet 5MP. Sometimes it detects the printer other times (most of the time) it doesn't recognized the printer. I've triple check the cables and powered down restated the computer about 10 time with the printer on and it's not showing up.

Upon installation the drivers for the stylus SX 115 were not available, but there were drivers for the stylus SX110 which i then installed. Printing is fine although for some reason even though i connect via usb cable the printer is not detected as a external device. I have to pull out the usb cable without unmounting-what should i do?

I used the synaptic package manager to install the printer drivers ubuntu already had in their repository for my printer model. When I connect my printer to the computer Ubuntu recognizes the model, but cannot detect the printer drivers I have already installed. The printer drivers were installed to /usr where a Brother folder was created. the Cupswrapper and lpd files are in the Brother folder. How can I get the system to detect its own files so I can get the printer to work?

Oct 11, 2009I try to print with an HP 14000 PSC on Fedora 11. The printer is detected, send a document, it goes on the queue but does not get printed. The status is stopped. The printer status stay on idle with /usb/lib/cups/filter/foomatic-rip failed. I try to restart the printer, unplugged reboot; nothing. I used the same printer on F10 was working fine.

Jun 21, 2011I'm running OpenSuse 11.4 and trying to connect a brand-new Xerox Phaser 6010 printer through USB.
I started by trying Yast>Hardware>Printer>Add, but no printer was detected. I tried "Detect More", but still no printer was detected.
The USB cable is connected, the printer is turned on, and /dev/usb/lp0 exists. There is only one printer on my system, so this must by my printer device; indeed, it disappears when I turn off the printer. Also, the printer works nicely under Windows, so there is no hardware problem with the printer itself.
I tried removing and reinserting the usblp module (using `rmmod usblp; insmod usblp`), but still no printer. Cups does not seem to find it.
I also tried explicitly specifying a URI for the printer using ConnectionWizard>SpecifyArbitraryDeviceURI usb:/dev/usb/lp1, selected the Xerox Phaser 6010 driver (which is present in the list) and tried to print a test page, but nothing happens.
What other options are there to figure out what is wrong and get this printer to work under OpenSuse?

OpenSUSE Wireless :: Wireless Card Dormant Until Wired Connection Detected?
Feb 2, 2011I have searched and have not found anything specific to my issue. I am currently using NDISWrapper to load the bcmwl15 driver and when it's active it works beautifully.Problem is sometimes at boot, the card doesn't "turn on" and I don't know how else to describe it. The OS does not even detect that the hardware is present. I have disabled wireless hotkey in BIOS. The only way to make the wireless card "active" is to reboot with the wiredconnection to the router. After doing that the wireless card "wakes up" and works awesome.Is there anything I can do to make sure the driver load at boot?mes I get the error that NDISWrapper is not modprobbed when I go to network configuration and if I wish to do i now? I don't know if that has anything to do with the boot sequence. Using the <modprobe ndiswrapper> command as root does nothing permanant

Jun 16, 2011I know there are a million threads about this, but my problem tends to be slightly different. I've read the sticky on here, I've googled around for a few days now, I've re-installed new drivers, tried a lot of different things. A lot of people seem to be having the issue of being able to see wireless networks, but they can't connect. I'm not that far yet.
When I click on my connections area, near the top right of the screen, then I got to edit connections, under wireless there is no wlan0 or eth1, where as if I do the same for the wired network, it lists a eth0. For some reason my wireless is on eth1, but I can only see that though lshw -C network.
Sometimes my laptops wireless "Light" is on, and sometimes its not. When its on, it means the wireless is enabled. But even when it is on, unfortunately I still have the same issue. I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. I'm using an Acer Aspire 7552G-5430, it has the BCM43225 Wireless card.

Jun 18, 2011Wireless not detected I'm on Ubuntu 11.04 64-bit. I am using an E machine laptop with a duel boot Win XP and Ubuntu. Both systems work great, the XP can go on line with a touch of the Fn and F2 keys but the Ubuntu mode will not.
I do not have a manual switch or button to activate the wireless. I dont want to mess up the windows XP Fn, F2 connection when I boot into XP. What should I do to connect Ubuntu to the Internet?
Are there other keys to activate wireless in Ubuntu or the wireless (addresses) routers in my area?
Is there a directory of key combinations that work with Ubuntu?
I used Ctrl, Alt and 6 rfkill list to find that.

Jun 26, 2011I am using a Compaq presario laptop. I installed Ubuntu 11.04 (32 bit) within windows 7.Initially my WiFi was running fine in Ubuntu without me doing anything. Now suddenly Ubuntu has stopped showing any of the WiFi networks. I have not done any changes in Ubuntu.When i booted to my Win 7, it was able to detect the network. I uninstalled and reinstalled Ubuntu, with no avail. But Ubuntu is able to detect the wired network when connected. I am at a loss.
