Fedora Hardware :: Visioneer OneTouch 9020 Scanner Not Working
Feb 7, 2011
I got a Visioneer One Touch 9020 USB scanner at a local thrift store and I can't get it working. At the store they said it works. Not tested with Linux. It was only $3 so I figured I'd take the plunge -- proceeds go to local charities. Running sane-find-scanner outputs this:
# sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
# result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
# scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
# you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
[Code]...
says no sane devices found, as does the Xsane program when I try to start that. Should I take apart the scanner and see what chip it uses? On a side note, the same thrift store has a Mustek scanner that has only a USB connection, apparently drawing power from the USB bus. But I'm skeptical about this because all the scanners I've seen require 1.25 amps of current and USB provides only 0.5 amps. Has anyone any experience with this scanner and would it be worthwhile to purchase it and try to get it going? I have two scanners that work well with Linux but they are both the multifunction type that copy, scan and print. I'm hoping I can find a regular flatbed scanner. And I should also mention I have Python-imaging-sane installed for flatbed scanners.
Just acquired a slide/negative scanner (Traveller TV6500) which is reputed only to work under Winderz. Anyone know of a way to get it to run under Fedora 12?
I'm running Linux Fedora-Blue 2.6.32.21-168.fc12.i686 #1 SMP Wed Sep 15 16:25:04 UTC 2010 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux lsusb shows Bus 001 Device 019: ID 05a9:1550 OmniVision Technologies, Inc. VEHO Filmscanner
I've tried running it in a VirtualBox Windows XP, but it doesn't appear to work - goes off & churns but doesn't appear to get a picture back.
I can't get the scanner to work. I get this: [pedroski@fangshan ~]$ scanimage -L device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname USB2.0 1.3M UVC WebCam virtual device device `hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_1050_J410_series?serial=CN0CN3H3CZ05HW' is a Hewlett-Packard Deskjet_1050_J410_series all-in-one
and this [pedroski@fangshan ~]$ scanimage -d hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_1050_J410_series?serial=CN0CN3H3CZ05HW -T scanimage: open of device hpaio:/usb/Deskjet_1050_J410_series?serial=CN0CN3H3CZ05HW failed: Device busy.
Fedora came with 'Simple Scan' That also returns 'device busy'. Can this scanner work under Fedora? I have tried turning it off, then on. I have rebooted. I have hpijs and hplip installed also hplip-gui. I have put myself in the group lp.
I have recently installed Fedora11 and have managed to get the printer side of the above multifunction machine working but not the scanner . The computer recognises the scanner and sane, xsane, sanelib's etc are all installed . When I try to open it it gives the following:
Failed to open device 'brother3:bus5;dev1': Error during device I/O
I was able to get the printer up and running by downloading the printer driver for debian linux (3.1) from the Canon site without any problems.
Unfortunately I am not having the same luck with the scanner.
I tried downloading ScanGear MP for Linux (deb) (1.3) from the same Canon site but have not yet been able to get the XSane Image Scanner to recognize this scanner driver for my Canon.
I have a HP Office-Jet 6110 All-In-One for about 5 years now and I havve been using it on Suse and openSuse without a problem all these years. This morning I wanted to scan something and suddenly realised that the scanner is not working. I can print but not scan. i tried to set up the scanner using YaST like I have done for the past 5 years but it#s not working. Hpaio shows that no scanner is available for this driver. I can#t install the scanner. What has changed in 11.2 that devices that worked before are not working anymore?
Running openSUSE 11.2 with HP All-in-one 3055 printer/fax/scanner attached through network. Using hplip package.
Printer works just fine. Scanner did work for quite some time, however it stopped working after some update about a month ago (using only opensuse update repo).
When doing hp-scan I get following error:
Checking all the logs I can think of I can't figure this one out. Tried newer hplip package fom HP site same issue (I have two systems, on one I've tried the new driver, on one only using opensuse update repo ...both same issue)
I've been trying to get my Epson NX420 printer to scan for about three months now, and I finally got it working. Here's how: 1. Go to [URL] and search for your printer. Select distribution and version and answer a couple of other questions. 2. Download pipslite_1.5.0-2_i386.deb, (or the 64-bit version), and all the iscan*.deb files (again, appropriate to your system). 3. [CRITICAL] Go to [URL] and download this 8.04 package which worked just fine for me on 10.10. 4. Use the Software Center or GDebi or sudo dpkg -i the .debs in this order:
1) libtdl3, which is a dependency for Step 2. 2) pipslite 3) iscan-data 4) iscan-network 5) iscan (If you use a USB connection, you don't need the iscan-network file.) This got my NX420 scanner up and running just fine. Installing libtdl3 was the key; in fact, I used the Debian Lenny package.
I have an Epson CX4300 on Ubuntu 10.10 and I can't get it to scan. I loaded the driver for CX4200 since CX4300 isn't listed in [URL]
sane-find-scanner finds the scanner but scanimage doesn't: ilan@ilan-main:~$ sane-find-scanner -q found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x083f) at libusb:003:002 ilan@ilan-main:~$ scanimage -L
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
XSane also reports No Devices available and number 4 in their possible reasons is The backend is not loaded by SANE (man sane-dll). I get: ilan@ilan-main:~$ man sane-dll No manual entry for sane-dll
I do get a man for sane-epson so that hints that the epson driver exists. The fact that sane-dll doesn't seem to exist is probably the problem. I'm using libsane in the Synaptic Package Manager and that is supposed to supply the backends. Should it include sane-dll?
I just installed an all-in-one Brother MFC-8670DN in Ubuntu 9.04. The printing works great but I cannot get the scanner recognized. I tried brscan, brscan2 and brscan3 from the Linux section of the Brother website to no avail. Previously had a lower model Brother MFC working fine. I called Brother and they said that "I need to call Linux for help with the scanner." Anyone who can help with the Brother MFC-8670DN? It would be very much appreciated. This printer may go back to the store if I cannot get the scanner working in Ubuntu 9.04.
I have been given an Epson CX5000 3-in-1 that I only want to use the scanner part of (I have a laser and hate buying ink). The scanner works, tested under windoze, but xsane and scanimage -L fail to find it. But, lsusb does: $ /sbin/lsusb Bus 001 Device 003: ID 04b8:082b Seiko Epson Corp. Stylus DX5050
I saw a post about it under ubuntu that you had to modify /etc/udev/rules.d/45-libsane.rules Which doesn't exist on my Slackware 13 install. I hope this Epson runs faster than my Canon FB630U, which takes almost a four minutes to scan a 5x6 photo and forget scanning an 8.5x11 page (go take a nap).
I was able to get my Epson Stylus NX510 printer up and running (after much issue), but I can't get the scanner working. I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx.
After downloading and installing iscan and run it i see this message:
Could not send command to scanner. Check scanner's status.
After command sane-find-scanner:
And this message is result of scanimage command:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
We recently got an Epson Stylus TX550W Printer/Scanner unit, shared over Wi-Fi with both Windows/Ubuntu PC's, while I have the printing working flawlessly, I don't know where to start to get the scanner working. I've Googled, but haven't come up with much, checked the Ubuntu documentation, apparently Ubuntu (9.10 & earlier, nothing about 10.04) don't automatically detect networked printers, is there a way to get it to recognize without editing config files, which I hate doing? I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 64-bit.
I have a Brother MFC-6490CW network Scanner. Had it installed and working great in Gutsy. Upgraded to Natty 11.04 the other day, and the scanner stopped working. Printing is still ok. When I try to open a scanning program I get:
Have Karmic 9.10 ,Changed from Epson RX595 all in 1 (uses a ton of ink)Got the Lexmark Pro 805 3 in 1 because it says it supports Linux and the ink cartridge only cost $5 downloaded drivers and printer works but using Xsane Image Scanner error reports
'Lexmark_1_0_0:libsub/001/009': Device busy Using Image Scan - reports Could not send command to scanner Check the scanner status. The RX595's scanner drivers had to been manually instatlled,, in the Printer box the Lexmark shows available..
I've installed XSane Image Scanner. When I first opened it, it searched for my scanner and didn't give any error messages, and it had my scanner model in the heading of the scan window. But when I hit the scan button, it gave me saying, "Failed to start scanner: error during device I/O.I closed everything, and opened XSane again. This time it said there was no scanner available. The scanner is plugged into the USB port and uses that for both power and data. It's a Canoscan Model N650U.
I have a small home network. One of the machines has an Epson scanner attached to it and I have been using the Linux version of vuescan for scanning with it.would like to run vuescan ona different machine to scan without moving the scanner.
I installed Fedora 13 64 bit yesterday and so far so good. Except that it recognized my hp2100 printer scanner but it didn't work until I set up CUPS. I installed HPLIP and it doesn't see the printer even though it works. Now I would like to get the scanner to work, but simple scan doesn't see it. How do I get it to work?
I have a Canon Lide 100 flatbed scanner, however xsane 0.997 can't detect it.Just wanna ask you you guys add a scanner ?When I do a command line, this is what I get.Quote:[root@localhost]# sane-find-scannerfound USB scanner (vendor=0x04a9 [Canon], product=0x1904 [CanoScan], chip=GL843) at libusb:001:003However when I run the "Scanner Tool" from Application --> Graphics --> Scanner Tool
I have a Genius CP-SF600 scanner. I have put the fimware in the necessary directory for the backend (/usr/share/sane/gt68xx), and what I run sane-find-scanner I get:
Code: $ sane-find-scanner # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.
# No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter. found USB scanner (vendor=0x0458, product=0x2021, chip=GT-6816?) at libusb:002:006 # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.
# Not checking for parallel port scanners. # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports # can't be detected by this program. # You may want to run this program as root to find all devices. Once you # found the scanner devices, be sure to adjust access permissions as # necessary.
However, when I run scanimage -L I get: Code: $ scanimage -L No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages). So sane sees the scanner, but then scanimage says it can't find any scanners. If I run scanimage -L as root it does seem to find the scanner.. so its a permissions problem somewhere.. I will keep investigating....
I recently installed Fedora 14. Unfortunately, the scanner on my Epson CX3200 is not detected by the system. When i open 'Simple Scan', it shows i have a Epson CC-570L, and i don't know what to do to change it, so that it 'sees' my scanner. how i can change the scanner in 'Simple Scanner' to my CX3200?
I'm using a scanner with Fedora. However, linux does something that is undesirable; It turns off the scanner light, everytime it does a scan, which the HP software, which comes for windows, doesn't do. The result? The light never warms up enough and all the images come with a blue tone on them. Only after using the scanner a few times, the light warms up enough and the images start getting their true colour. The question is, can I somehow force the light to stay on, even during scans, like it happens when I am using Windows? Or not? Anyone has ideas?
I have Just got Fedora up and working and trying to setup my Epson V33 Scanner, I have downloaded the Driver packages from Avasys (http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/) But when I try to install the iscan rpm package it tells me that I need libltdl.so.3, after doing some googling I have managed to find this rpm for Mandriva but I am unsure if installing this on Fedora would cause any problems?[URL].. When I looked on the Avasys site this is available as an rpm (or to be exact libltdl.so.7!)
I want to get my Canon MP210 printer / scanner working under Fedora 8 Linux. When I plug the USB cable in, I get a little popup with a setup wizard, but my printer isn't even in that list. I've tried the system-config-printer wizard as well as going in through the control panels and trying everything reasonable.
I have Fedora 12 installed on my computer and I'm trying to set up a printer and a scanner for my personal use. The printer is a Canon LBP 3200 and the scanner a Mustek 1200 UB Plus. Both are connected via USB.For the printer i managed to install a driver, but it will still not print. It only ejects blank pages. For the scanner i tried sane, but to no avail.
